I think Keylor Navas would feature in a top 10. His technique in nets is really impressive and what he’s been able to achieve is even more so when you take his height into consideration. As a GK, when I watch Navas the way he plays completely outdoes at the very least every other current Premier League keeper. You get a sense with every goal he concedes that nobody else would really be able to save it.
IMHO, Keylor Navas is pretty much the Rodney Dangerfield of keepers. Arguably the best keeper EVER in CONCACAF, here's a guy who's won pretty much everything at club level, but keeps on getting pushed aside for the new-shiny even though at his current age, he's still a top-level keeper with at least two more seasons of elite-level play left in him. Don't get me wrong, Courtois was an upgrade at Real, but that's like upgrading from a Bentley to a Rolls. Or what have you. Navas landed on his feet at PSG, but again he got pushed aside for the new-shiny when PSG signed Donnarumma, and nothing against him, but Donnarumma's only advantage over Navas is his age, and now Navas is in a relegation scrap with Forest, and will be out of contract at the end of the season. If he chooses to stay in Europe after this season, I can't imagine he'll be out of contract for too long, even if it is just for another year or two. Buffon deserved the balon d'or over Cannavaro in 2006 imo. Their world cup high performance was extremely comparable, but he only conceeded 1 gol on penalty by Zidane and an unfortunate self-goal by Zaccardo in the WHOLE tournament. Not even ONE goal conceeded in action by the opposing team, which is just crazy. Also Buffon was having a ridicoulus career since late 90's at Parma (also Cannavaro, but not quite at the same lvl imo). On the other hand Neuer, having a great season in 2014 and also closely deserving a balon, d'or, conceded only 5 goals less, but only playing half of Buffon's career, which without any doubts puts him second compared to the GOAT, which till to this day, deserved the balon d'or. Also Bayern had a better overall team trought Neuer's career, and Bundesliga was clearly easier than what Buffon ever encountered. Serie A was the best league in the 90's and the early 2000.
Igor Akinfeev as an honourable mention is based asf, I’m so happy he gets recognition! People would love him way more had he left CSKA, but his loyalty makes him so special!
Jens Lehmann? He even scored two goals during his tenure at Schalke 04 (one via penalty, and in 1997 he became the first goalie in the Bundesliga to score a regular field goal).
Posting for the 11th time: I created an all-time XI with no overlap of international careers - no player was active for their national team at the same time as any other player. Here it is (with the years of each player's international career listed in parentheses): 🇩🇪 Oliver Kahn (1995 - 2006) 🇩🇪 Manfred Kaltz (1975 - 1983), 🏴 Bob Crompton (1902 - 1914), 🇧🇷 Thiago Silva (2008 - ), 🇩🇪 Andreas Brehme (1984 - 1994) 🇺🇾 José Leandro Andrade (1923 - 1930), 🇮🇹 Ugo Locatelli (1936 - 1940) 🇮🇹 Valentino Mazzola (1942 - March 1949) 🇧🇷 Pelé (1957 - 1971), 🇧🇷 Neco (1917 - 1922), 🇭🇺 Zoltán Czibor (May 1949 - 1956) Manager: 🇨🇿 Karel Petrů (1931 - 1935) If you choose to ignore the position of manager, Ugo Locatelli can be replaced in midfield by 🇦🇷 Antonio Sastre (1933 - 1941). How about making a video featuring an XI you created using this limitation (and without using uncapped players)?
I love Thiago Silva but how is he the current gen player you would include out of all the choices you had. Surely Messi walks into any team at this point and you could include any CB from back in the day.
@@areebsiddiqui758 Lionel Messi debuted for Argentina in 2005, so if you put him in you'd need to remove both Oliver Kahn and Thiago Silva. My guess is absolutely right as the Italian legend Gianluigi Buffon deserves to be in the top spot for the "Greatest Goalkeepers Since 2000" list as he has achieved his best before the turn of the millennium and became a world class player at that period of time and won numerous trophies, except the UEFA Champions League trophies, good friends!!!Shoutout to the other respective legends who he has mentioned and long lives respectively to all of them, good friends!!!:-D
Neuer in the 2nd place is outrageous! He revolutionized goalkeeper's position with his excellent ball control and he had such amazing performances in the WC 2014, in the Champions league from 2011 onwards and if it wasnt for him Bayern wouldnt have won the CL in 2020. I cant believe someone in their right mind put him in second place
Well, just about anyone who ever really saw Buffon play would have no other chouce than to put Neuer in 2nd. And I say this as a German who has followed Neuer's career closely!
The thing is, Neuer didn't make his professional debut until 2006. By that point, Gianluigi Buffon was a World Cup winner on top of being the best keeper on the planet. Sure, Neuer has been outstanding, but Buffon has been just as good - for longer.
Petr Cech spent a few months towards the tail end of this ice hockey season playing for my local team, The Chelmsford Chieftains, in case anyone wanted to know what Cech’s up to nowadays
4:08 was he actually? I have been around when Kahn was playing and I have never heard about "Volcano", his nickname was "Titan". Nonetheless, still hoping for that Austrian Wunderteam video 😇✌.
Hugely biased, but Claudio Bravo gets a huge honorable mention for me. He was a beast in Real Sociedad and if he had stayed in a smaller club rather than selling out to Barcelona and City and become a number 2, we would have heard more about him. Although by not appearing much in both of those clubs he was capable of carrying Chile to their two and only consecutive Copa Americas, which does say something about how good he is.
Thanks for including De Gea, he kept Man United just about afloat for several years. It takes a special goalie to do a job with some of those defenders in front of him.
No way anyone puts Bravo and Ochoa as honorable mentions but not Abbondanzieri who was actually in the top 10 keepers of the XXI century made by IFFHS, guy was Zamora of La Liga with Getafe out of all teams.
As a german and a bayern fan, i would 100% put neuer on top, because in my opinion, he's the greatest ever in his position. But i can live with buffon over him. I would have started mayhem if he was behind casillas though

I would have liked to see Rogerio Ceni get an honourable mention - maybe for pure goalkeeping he wasn't as good as some of the others mentioned, but over 100 club goals is noteworthy for a keeper...
My opinion 1Manuel Neuer 2Gianluigi Buffon 3Iker Casilas 4Petr Cech 5Oliver Kahn 6Jens Lehman 7Julio Cesar Honourable Mentions: Van der Sar, Ederson, Alisson, Thibaut Courtois, David De Gea, Marc-André Ter Stegen, Victor Valdez, Hugo Lloris, Joe Hart, Keylor Navas, Jan Oblak
Heurelho Gomes was insanely good at PSV for 4 seasons winning B2B2B2B league titles with them and reaching the semifinal of the champions league as well. I know he didnt do so well in England but his legacy in the Netherlands is stellar.
To add some facts: In 4 seasons in the league he conceded 90 goals or about 0.5-0.6 per game. The next best team during that period (Ajax) conceded 154. Gomes was literally the difference during those 4 seasons. In 2007-2008 for instance Ajax outscored PSV by 29 goals but conceded 21 more.
Not sure if you’ve got any need for video ideas, but a what on earth is happening at Fola in the Luxembourg national division would be interesting to me idk about anyone else, as always keep up the great work Alfie!!
Rogério Ceni not even being mentioned in this video baffles me, hes only the keeper with most goals (131), 50 overall penalties saved (33 in game, 17 in shoouts), and was doing everything that Neuer does since at least 2003, in 2007 had a 988 minute streak without conceding a goal, has 1117 games for São Paulo FC (978 of wich he was the captain, both world records) and was the teams top scorer in 2005 [21] and 2006 [15] (in 2005 São Paulo won a treble with the State Championchip, Libertadores and Club World Cup, and in 2006 won the Brazilian League) also De Gea being on the list over Van Der Sar?????????
What about Jens Lehmann? You should have at least mentioned him in the honourable mentions. Definetly the German goal keeper, who laid the basis for Manuel Neuer.

Past his prime or not, I didn't even think he was that bad at Watford? I can remember him making some magnificent saves.
And he got Watford to an FA cup final. Heurelho was a decent goalkeeper
Proper comment: This might be my Mags bias talking, but I think Shay Given could have been an honourable mention, at least during his peak. A lot of the keepers in the list had some truly exceptional defenders, while Given had a hell of a lot more to do because the defenders in front of him were people like, er, Titus Bramble. He's certainly no Buffon or Kahn or even a Victor Valdez, but I think he's probably the most underrated goalkeeper of the post-2000 Premier League era.
Aw Bramble wasn’t so bad, just had a silly name. If his name was Will Johnson he wouldn’t get nearly as much stick 😅
@@gofannon1943 I have to disagree there, but I think we can both agree that Jean-Alain Boumsong was a total waste of space - and Given was often stuck behind both of them at the same time. =]
Buffon at 2006 world cup was a monster as well, i still cant believe to this day zidane doesnt score that header
It's a shame he had his career run down by politics, while watching through highlights he impressed me during the 2018 WC
@@Giooseb What politics ?
@@Giooseb are you talking about the Russian invasion of Ukraine? Because if not I didn’t realize there was any politics involved in his career?
You forgot to mention leman from arsenal. Also shy given was great honorable mention
Jens Lehmann? He even scored two goals during his tenure at Schalke 04 (one via penalty, and in 1997 he became the first goalie in the Bundesliga to score a regular field goal).
I was shocked that Lehmann didn't get a mention
Posting for the 11th time:
I created an all-time XI with no overlap of international careers - no player was active for their national team at the same time as any other player.
Here it is (with the years of each player's international career listed in parentheses):
🇩🇪 Oliver Kahn (1995 - 2006)
🇩🇪 Manfred Kaltz (1975 - 1983), 🏴 Bob Crompton (1902 - 1914), 🇧🇷 Thiago Silva (2008 - ), 🇩🇪 Andreas Brehme (1984 - 1994)
🇺🇾 José Leandro Andrade (1923 - 1930), 🇮🇹 Ugo Locatelli (1936 - 1940)
🇮🇹 Valentino Mazzola (1942 - March 1949)
🇧🇷 Pelé (1957 - 1971), 🇧🇷 Neco (1917 - 1922), 🇭🇺 Zoltán Czibor (May 1949 - 1956)
Manager: 🇨🇿 Karel Petrů (1931 - 1935)
If you choose to ignore the position of manager, Ugo Locatelli can be replaced in midfield by 🇦🇷 Antonio Sastre (1933 - 1941).
How about making a video featuring an XI you created using this limitation (and without using uncapped players)?
I love Thiago Silva but how is he the current gen player you would include out of all the choices you had. Surely Messi walks into any team at this point and you could include any CB from back in the day.
Ee
@@areebsiddiqui758 Lionel Messi debuted for Argentina in 2005, so if you put him in you'd need to remove both Oliver Kahn and Thiago Silva. If you can come up with a better XI (with historically great players in all positions, not just forwards and midfielders) while including Lionel Messi, by all means go ahead and create it.
In my opinion Manuel Neuer is the greatest goalkeeper of all time
I would love to put cech in the top 3, but there is just no way to leave out buffon, casillas and neuer.
Started the video, went to the kitchen to make a 3 course meal, and came back just before the video intro ended.
Finally some love for Costa Rica!!!! Missed us in so many lists, at least Keylor was here. Yes, my little nation is still watching Alfie, hopefully we'll get some respect one day
Is keylor seen as a hero out in Costa Rica?
@@tommyvinceze6249 Well, three World Cups including the legendary 2014 quarterfinals run, winning everything there is to win during his time at Real Madrid, sweeping through Ligue 1 with PSG, even making third place at the Club World Cup with his former club Saprissa... I'd say: Yes, he's pretty much a national hero and in Costa Rica and as goalie in CONCACAF, you could call him the GOAT.
Knew who would be top 3, the only uncertainty would be the order of those 3.
Video idea:
7 important rules changes in association football history (whether for the better, for the worse, or somewhat in between)
7 greatest footballers to not receive a international cap
Neuer in the 2nd place is outrageous! He revolutionized goalkeeper's position with his excellent ball control and he had such amazing performances in the WC 2014, in the Champions league from 2011 onwards and if it wasnt for him Bayern wouldnt have won the CL in 2020. I cant believe someone in their right mind put him in second place
Well, just about anyone who ever really saw Buffon play would have no other chouce than to put Neuer in 2nd. And I say this as a German who has followed Neuer's career closely!
@@AblemanSy well said ! I am Italo-German and I couldn't agree more
The thing is, Neuer didn't make his professional debut until 2006. By that point, Gianluigi Buffon was a World Cup winner on top of being the best keeper on the planet. Sure, Neuer has been outstanding, but Buffon has been just as good - for longer.
@@AzureKite Yeah, if it were rankings from 2010, then no doubt Neuer’d top all
Finally. Something I have been waiting for. Please, I want to see the best passers of this decade.
If DeBruyne is not first on the list then who is? (he commented hoping to continue a thread until Alfie notices it)
@@bumblethebeadle3504 Iniesta might be slightly better for the 2010s.
Petr Cech spent a few months towards the tail end of this ice hockey season playing for my local team, The Chelmsford Chieftains, in case anyone wanted to know what Cech’s up to nowadays
Donnarumma becoming one of the best ever seems about as likely as Kolo Muani doing so lol
4:08 was he actually? I have been around when Kahn was playing and I have never heard about "Volcano", his nickname was "Titan".
Nonetheless, still hoping for that Austrian Wunderteam video 😇✌.
Both. I think Vulkan came earlier and later he became Titan.
@Rest in peace bro he was called the Vulkan in German media a lot.
@Rest in peace bro and my experience was that he was often called Vulkan,or Vulkahn
I have been around from his very beginning. And I have never heard Vulcano either.
The kind of videos I love and ask for
In all honesty, Schmeichel in 2000 was great, won the treble the previous year and helped Sporting win the first league trophy in 18 years
Hugely biased, but Claudio Bravo gets a huge honorable mention for me.
Can’t argue with any of this ..picked every position except for Kahn, who I forgot about and immediately agreed on ! 😂
Buffon was voted 14 FOURTEEN times in the IFFHS best Goalkeeper top 3 since 2000. Insane
Thanks for including De Gea, he kept Man United just about afloat for several years. It takes a special goalie to do a job with some of those defenders in front of him.
Iam very happy in doing this type videos, because I was born in 2000.
NEUER IS THE BEST FOR SURE
Neuer is the GOATkeeper
No way anyone puts Bravo and Ochoa as honorable mentions but not Abbondanzieri who was actually in the top 10 keepers of the XXI century made by IFFHS, guy was Zamora of La Liga with Getafe out of all teams.
Let's get a few honourable mentions here, Sergio Canizares, Julio Cesar, Joe Hart, Dida, Victor Valdes and Ochoa
As a german and a bayern fan, i would 100% put neuer on top, because in my opinion, he's the greatest ever in his position. But i can live with buffon over him. I would have started mayhem if he was behind casillas though
Yes Alfie! Up the GK content
Edwin Van der ser and Vincent Enyeama should have gotten a look in
Van der Sar was a honorable mention
@@AzureKite he's far better than getting a honorable mention, I could accept vincent Enyeama as Honorable mention
It's not shocking for Buffon to be No.1. I actually expected that
not even a mention for Rogerio Cení I'm crushed 😔
Please make a documentary about the following topics:
-Corrine Diacre’s controversial/toxic tenure as the manager of France’s Women’s National team which lead her to get sacked last month
-The alleged attack on Kheira Hamaroui by her own former PSG Teammate Aminata Diallo
-The drama/scandal surrounding Gregg Berhalter and Gio Reyna’s parents during the 2022 FIGA World Cup
-Ranking all of the goals that won the FIFA World Cup Goal of the Tournament Award
Maqwell already made a video that's comprehensive enough on the Berhalter scandal. Watch that instead. Rest all are good suggestions.
Got to love someone with concussion being dismissed as "error prone"
Keep up the amazing and interesting videos
Best German players in the premier league of all time. (Day 485)
I will not give up until the video is made or Alfie himself tells me to stop. Everyone else telling me that will be ignored.
If you don't believe my number, just go back to the previous videos. I'm at the bottom most of the time, but I'm there.
I would have liked to see Rogerio Ceni get an honourable mention - maybe for pure goalkeeping he wasn't as good as some of the others mentioned, but over 100 club goals is noteworthy for a keeper...
Buffon Invicta. The invincible Buffon.
It's unsurprising that Neuer never won the Ballon d'Or, but if you ask me, Buffon should've won it in 2006 over Cannavaro
100% with buffon in 2006 yeah.
okay and neuer should have won it in 2014
4:18 This Kahn story cracked me up 😂😂😂
My opinion
1Manuel Neuer
2Gianluigi Buffon
3Iker Casilas
4Petr Cech
5Oliver Kahn
6Jens Lehman
7Julio Cesar
Honourable Mentions: Van der Sar, Ederson, Alisson, Thibaut Courtois, David De Gea, Marc-André Ter Stegen, Victor Valdez, Hugo Lloris, Joe Hart, Keylor Navas, Jan Oblak
This is generally class content
Kasper schmeichel should’ve been in honourable mentions I reckon
Heurelho Gomes was insanely good at PSV for 4 seasons winning B2B2B2B league titles with them and reaching the semifinal of the champions league as well.
I know he didnt do so well in England but his legacy in the Netherlands is stellar.
To add some facts:
In 4 seasons in the league he conceded 90 goals or about 0.5-0.6 per game. The next best team during that period (Ajax) conceded 154. Gomes was literally the difference during those 4 seasons. In 2007-2008 for instance Ajax outscored PSV by 29 goals but conceded 21 more.
HITC Gang on Deck ………. ⚽️
Amazing vid 😍 Gigi BUFFONNN
Iker Cassilas was a joy to watch 💖
NEUER WAS AND IS A JOY TO WATCH
Finished my breakfast before you finished your intro 😂
Iker Casillas is the only keeper who is a SAINT 🙏
💀
Not sure if you’ve got any need for video ideas, but a what on earth is happening at Fola in the Luxembourg national division would be interesting to me idk about anyone else, as always keep up the great work Alfie!!
Rogério Ceni not even being mentioned in this video baffles me, hes only the keeper with most goals (131), 50 overall penalties saved (33 in game, 17 in shoouts), and was doing everything that Neuer does since at least 2003, in 2007 had a 988 minute streak without conceding a goal, has 1117 games for São Paulo FC (978 of wich he was the captain, both world records) and was the teams top scorer in 2005 [21] and 2006 [15] (in 2005 São Paulo won a treble with the State Championchip, Libertadores and Club World Cup, and in 2006 won the Brazilian League)
also De Gea being on the list over Van Der Sar?????????
but hes not really a great keeper tbh
What about Jens Lehmann?
You should have at least mentioned him in the honourable mentions.
Definetly the German goal keeper, who laid the basis for Manuel Neuer.
It's weird you play this video in 2x speed and it still feels like it's really slow.
a documentary of Borussia Dortmund and how they were extremely close to bankruptcy in 2002 time and how Bayern had to save them. The extreme difficulties the club has had to manage within to get back to where they are #thepeopleschannel
Name of the background music???
Day 8: best XI Brazilians that played for other nations
Pepe
i can only recommend listening on 1.5 speed. his voice is so much more enjoyable.
I watch these specifically to hear Alfie say 'without further Adu' every single video
Biased as Argentina fan but Martinez could be on this list in time
Casillas at his peak was a genius, especially considering he was never that tall compared to most keepers
This list is pretty much accurate....but i reckon Edersons distribution for GK'S is the best of all time
I don't like Neuer but you can't deny he is undeniably the best of the 2000s
Without a doubt and by a mile, no honourable mention 4 Ederson, thumbnail needs better clarify lol
Honorable mention- Mark Paston. 2010 World Cup. 80 something saves. Only 2 conceded including 1 pen.
😇
What's going on with the other channel? Atm there's no videos.
Have you ever made a video on Rogerio Ceni? Top Goalscorer for Sao Paulo in 05 despite being a GK
On December 31st 1999 at 11:59pm, Big Ben bonged around my house, but we didn't see him for the rest of the night, as he pulled white.
Special mention - Rogerio Ceni. The only GK to have scored 100+ goals.
Came here to say this. Plus he captained (and was the main player) of an all-conquering brazilian side in the 2000s (São Paulo) and kept playing, sometimes really well, up until he was 42 in 2015
The 7 greatest referee's of all time.
Pierluigi Collina also Gianluca Paparesta
Gregory coupet should be an honourable mention as well
me (seeing thumbnail) - wonder where Buffon is ranked?
me (as Alfie's ranking progressed gradually - and no Buffon yet) - Looks like Alfie hates Buffon? wonder why?
*excellent vid as always - no complaints.
Ochoa has just received his 1000th goal conceded in his career
Massimo Taibi. Best of all time
2000-2024:
1. Manuel Neuer, 2. Iker Casillas, 3. Gianluigi Buffon, 4. Oliver Kahn, 5. Thibaut Courtois, 6. Petr Ćech, 7. Keylor Navas, 8. Edwin Van der Sar, 9. Emiliano Martinez, 10. Dida, 11. For me Neuer is number 1. Buffon & Casillias never hit the same peaks Neuer did.
De gea being in this list instead of Valdes is a crime
Good friend Alfie, well played to your beloved Hull City for getting a 0-0 draw at Blackburn Rovers to move to fifteenth place with fifty three points!!!🏋♂️
Can you make a video on the Lampard, Ferdinand, Dyer Aya Napa video with some friendly ladies in 2000 ish ?... I think people have forgotten about it. Maybe do a Top 7 footballer video romps 😁
Vitor Baía deserved at least an honorable mention Alfie.
You should make a video about the 7 most famous people subscribed to you
Day 21: Rise and fall of Klaipėdos Atlantas
Honestly, I was expecting a punchline of mentioning Emiliano Martinez for the number 1 spot, but I guess it wasn't necessary. Buffon deservedly earns top spot here. I think if he plays in Serie A at age 50, he must be up there with Lev Yashin and Dino Zoff as one of the greatest GKs ever, although he IS already up there at this time).
