    Finally! I was looking for someone that did this. I'm building a Harley Panhead Bobber, and would rather a small 2 gallon gas tank rather than the 3.5 gallon Harley tanks. But I don't want to stop every 60 miles for gas. So I thought another 2 or 3 gallon tank on the back fender, like you have. I might want to have mine removable, though. This is.a great start. Thanks!

    I'm planning to do this on my 150 c.c scooter, it has a 5.5 liter tank and the way I drive gives me approximately 100 kilometers. I'm planning to add an extra 10-15 liter tank that would replace the rack behind the seat. the way I'm planning to do it is to add a Y fitting that intercepts the hose going out of the stock tank, which will make both tanks drain simultaneously but of course the stock tank will be empty way before the one I'm planning to add does. Will that work efficiently too? despite the fact that I kinda won't have a gas gauge which won't bother me much because I'll mostly mount it while going on long rides on the highway. I hope you see this and give me a confidence boost to my plan 😂

    I wonder if it is possible (theoretically) to install similar fuel tanks in place of saddlebags (one fuel tank on each side of the rear wheel)?

    • @dougfink4962
      @dougfink4962  3 роки тому +2

      Yes it should be. You’ll need to run a breather higher than all the tanks. Mine has one breather valve fir both tanks and it’s at the top of the rear tank. If you have a sissy bar, you could mount it to the back side, nice and hidden.

    Doesn't Yamaha or some one out there make bigger fuel tanks that fit in the place of the original?

    • @dougfink4962

      Unfortunately I haven’t been able to find one since 2014. I’ve searched all over the Internet to try to find one but from what I found they don’t make them.

      It's more common for offroad motorcycles or endurance tanks for track bikes. You can find them with a quick good search.
      Sadly it can be really expensive. It's much easier to just buy a bike with a massive fuel tank stock.

    The so did you add the vented line yourself?

    Very nice! And looks OEM! What is the size of fuel line you ran from aux to main tank?

    • @dougfink4962
      @dougfink4962  3 роки тому

      Thank you. I ran a 3/8 fuel line to the breather of the main tank. I got a 3/8 and 1/4 inch tube from the parts store. One side was 3/8 and the other was 1/4.

    Great job, I need to do something similar on a Honda Magna. Does your Stryker utilize a fuel pump system in the stock bike or is it all gravity fed?

    • @dougfink4962
      @dougfink4962  2 роки тому +1

      My bike has a fuel pump, with fuel injectors. I didn’t touch it though. To be honest I didn’t want to risk screwing something up.

      Had ankle fusion surgery on June 23 2021 to repair and old injury from 20 years ago. Just got put into a walking boot. As soon as I can I’ll get back on the bike.

    Man I just did my 1000 miles in 24 hours ride. And with my 6 gallon tank on my harley I could get almost 500 miles so I would only have to fill up once
