The issues you’re pointing out with the 19 aren’t really “issues” because you’re expecting a structureless bag to keep its shape when this bag is supposed to be squishy. I think you’re better off getting the Classic Flaps or Boy Bag if you want the bag to keep its shape.
I’ve had my small 19 Bag for a year now and use a base shaper and organizer and the flap is still even and no sagging of the top part or whatsoever. I also stuff it when not in use.

I have just subscribed. I really love how honest and thorough your review was. I was considering getting one but you made such a good point about carrying it top handle and how it might rip over time. I didn’t mind the slouch so much as I understood that was the style but with Chanel’s recent quality issues I have no doubt I will also be squeamish about the way the top handle is engineered. When I spend that much money on a bag I like to make sure I can feel confident it will age well. This bag does NOT seem like one that will age well even after the intended slouching everyone else is talking about. That has to do with the way the bag has been engineered, not styled.
Exactly! I still love how the bag is styled but what turns me off is the structural problem that will make the bag not be able to last for a long time like a normal luxury bag should. The recent quality issue definitely doesn’t help.

I like the fact that you compared LV Onthego PM to Chanel 19 at the end of this video because I am debating to replace my Chanel 19 with the same Onthego you have. My SA did mention that we should lay the Chanel 19 bag in flat with bag insert to hold the shape when storing it, so my 19 is actually in pristine condition for a year now (I bought mine 22C in 2021 winter). I will probably use my 19 more often before I decide to let it go some time in the future. Thanks for the comparison!

Yes another UA-camr told me the same thing about laying the 19 Bag flat with insert! I’m happy it worked for you. Great Video! Really helpful insights. I agree Chanel 19 is not a classic, I consider it a trendy bag even though Chanel has it in their "Classic" line. It's not a must have for me, but I do have one in non-leather. I can't buy enough classic flaps but I don't feel that way about the Chanel 19.
You could always get a Birkin or Kelly in a grey with gold hardware in the future to scratch your grey itch. I think you made the right decision to sell before it shows more wear and the popularity goes down more.

I have the caramel 21p and I’ve compared it to the 21k and 22A caramel and the quality of the leathers are world apart! The 21P 19 leather is super thick and doesn’t collapse at the top when carried. Like you have to see and feel one in person to know. I bought another from 22A and promptly returned it as I felt as though the leather was so thin and so fragile like the ones you have

Chanel 19 bags has no reinforcement in their structure like their classic flaps. They are not made to age well ,it’s a slouchy bag regardless how rigid your bag insert is. Especially if someone stuff their 19, it will definitely damaged the top part when carried top handle. No Chanel bags are indestructible despite their price tag. If this bag were to be under £500, you probably be less stress to use her. I don’t feel this bag is even worth. £1000. Any leather bags will crease,it’s a matter of how bad it is. Leather is like our skin.
No matter how much I researched, I realized that I will never know if a bag will really work for me till I use the bag for some time😔. There's about 6 bags I need to let go. I think 6-8 Lux bags is a good enough number for me. I learned that I don't like too structured bags but not too floppy that I will have the same prob like the 19, tassels and cloquettes bugs me, heavy chains not a fan but I'm stuck with them for now. I will wait a year or two so I can recoup my money from it.

Could the shape not be maintained with the aid of a taller bag insert (2mm +)? Thank you for sharing your experience, everyone should consider such large purchases and feel informed before handing over so much for an item they fall out of love with 💕
I think the shape could have been better if I stuff even more paper in it or a more solid bag insert. Lesson learned for softer bags like this! 😄
I just sold my 19 too but I really loved the slouch and even preferred to use the bag without the organiser. I like to squish the bag laying flat against my body its so comfortable to use. ❤️
What I don't like about the bag is firstly the strap isn't comfortable crossbody. The metal chain bag hurts my back and shoulder, even with the leather part-its so stiff! I tried to use it for a week's holiday and it made me decide to sell.
Secondly, the strap is way too long as shoulder bag when I use for work. I tried ways to shorten the strap but ended up isn't stable when I open it while carrying, or the sides of the strap totally lifted up the flap and misshapen the entire look.
I still love the bag tho but it's not for me xoxo

I got the gray bag like you!! And I got the same problem. To avoid that I carry the bag under the arm as you can see in the catwalke, but it not so pratical!!

When I first saw the 19 bag it was in black and I thought it looked like a trash bag. So I hated it but a year later I bought it in a cream shade and I love it. It’s my most used chanel bag in collection. I still don’t like it in black though 😅
The color makes such a big difference! Same for me. If it wasn’t the beautiful grey and caramel I wouldn’t have bought the 19 Bag in the first place.
Its not just the color. I bought it in black small the very first time they came out with it in the year 2018 and the quality of leather is just superb. Beautiful thick shiny leather best lambskin leather I have seen
I love how it’s look. If it’s $1000 I would buy it because It doesn’t hold much. The lambskin is hard to take care.
Your reasons are definitely legitimate. I've been tempted by this bag so many times but just couldn't get past the mixed metals - this video confirms the bag just isn't for me.
For someone thinks that the classic flap bag an old lady bag, I LOVE this bag😅
I feel like it looks classic in design but after use, it cannot be considered as such because the construction doesn't allow it to last as long as something like the Chanel CF. People aren't going to be handing these down to their kids because they will just be expensive, unrecognisable, heavy lumps of leather and metalby the time they're old enough to wear them. I don't think it was meant to look classy in the way we're used to, moreso to elevate a more casual look without seeming out of place like a CF can sometimes do or to slightly dress down a fancier outfit. I wouldn't take this to a wedding but I would gladly throw it on with some jeans and boots for a day out so I feel chic but comfy.
It took a while for me to like it but I was looking at it from the POV of timelessness, practicality and longevity - it scores badly on all three 😂 (except maybe practicality for some) but I feel like with some redesign like a structured back and base but leaving everything else slouchy, this bag could live to become truly classic.
I feel exactly the same as you do. I could have done a better job at maintaining its shape of course, but they slouchy design is not meant to maintain its shape in a longer period of time like the classic flaps. I was happy the 19 bag gave me lots of joy when I paired it with chic and casual outfit. But the shape just gets on my nerves and I think sometimes you want different things as you age 😂
It honestly was made to be a slouchy casual bag. Mine is 4 years old and Iove how relaxed the bag look. It's not supposed to be like the original structured Chanels.

I love my small 19 it’s one of my most used bags. I stuff it and it remains very nice I’ve had mine for over a year. This is a squishy bag so ya not structured.

I’m sorry if you’ve already mentioned this but, are they lambskin? That may be why they’re sagging to your dismay.
My SA said the grey is goatskin, not sure about the caramel but I think it’s the same.
You should’ve researched more before purchasing the bag and should’ve purchased 1 try it out first before buying the 2nd one.
