Mixing traditional Mongolian instruments and vocals with modern metal instruments. Awesome. They also honor their women in "Song Of Women" with Lzzy Hale of Halestorm. They also did an incredible version of the Metallica song "Sad But True".
SOW is awesome a must.
oh I need to check that out!
Yes! Both of them please!
@@rosalieelliottofficial You must if you have not yet. First time I heard them was with with LZZY Hale... I loved it. Loved her interactions with them... it seemed so honest and real and the tributes... wont give it away... but beautiful.
I love this band. Their music is so primal and raw, it just stirs something in me. Their first album is good, but their second one they released earlier this year is pure fire!
I know you are going to love this. This band is unique and a breath of fresh air. They make something so traditional and old sound so up to date and cool.
The band’s name translates to the Mongolian root word for human being, and their unique approach blends instruments like the Morin Khuur (horsehead fiddle), Tovshuur (Mongolian guitar), Tumur Khuur (jaw harp) and throat singing withcontemporary sounds, creating a unique sonic profile that they call “Hunnu Rock.”
Also, the traditional large frame drum is the "hengereg". :D (They have both modern and traditional drummers!)
We studied Mongolian horde tactics in the US Marine Corps. They are great warriors. True warriors follow a creed, if you stand behind me, I will protect you, if you stand beside me, I will respect you, if you attack us, show no mercy. Have to watch the Hu do Metallica song. Great reaction.
Woah
they pretty much invented the modern military tactics including centralized command and control, psychological warfare, bio warfare, blitzkrieg and feigned retreats
All NATO militaries still studying for Mongol army’s tactics and strategies.
Tank ewe four you're cervix.
Even to the wearing of silk undergarments which provided a level of protection due to the strength of the fibres and also reduced infection as the silk didn’t infect the wound.
All four are classically trained musicians with degrees from the Conservatory of Music in Mongolia. They're fabulous in both traditional and rock genres.
Don’t mess with the Mongols… 😉 Great band, beautiful traditional instruments mixed into this driving heavy tight sound… they are awesome live! Check out their collaboration with Lzzy Hale! 👍⚡️🤘
They are awesome live. Saw them last year opening for Halestorm.
I'll watch later, I'll be at work during the premier.
Judging by the background, you did the official video. This is one of 3 songs redone with new English lyrics and guest vocalists. Wolf Totem was redone with Jacoby Shaddix (Papa Roach). The other 2 are Yuve Yuve Yu with Danny Case(From Ashes to New), and Song of Women with Lzzy Hale (Halestorm).
All three are great songs.
Agreed with @mconway5206 . All three are amazing songs.
Dude so did I! It was epic!
@@deadmeat5150butt 🤘🤘
I knew you would enjoy this. I heard them live earlier this year, and during their song "Black Thunder" there were six guys on stage all throat singing, and it is powerful. I recommend the music videos (it covers 2 vids) for it, they are beyond epic. They recently have been designated as "Artists of Peace" by Unesco. Wonderful humans all.
One of my favorite groups. They do a cover of Metallica's Sad But True. It's the throat singing that I love. Their instruments are the Morin Kuur or Horsehead Fiddle, Tovshuu (Mongolian guitar ), Tumur Kuur (jaw harp) for your buzz. Of course if you watch some of the live recordings at the Studio, you add all of the different drums and guitars. There's a whole bunch of people in studio. I've been listening to this band for years. They came to Boston not too long ago, unfortunately I am disabled and had no way to go see them in the city an hour away. Great reaction ✌❤😎
Haha would LOVE to see everyone's first reaction to their first ever HU listen.
There's a version of this song with the guy from Papa Roach that adds some sort of rapping to it that is also cool. And I believe they went on tour with Papa Roach
Their song "Song Of Women" featuring Lzzy Hale is something else.
I concur.
I concur
I also very much concur
I also ver very much concur
That would be a great song to comment on.
THE HU 👍
Loved your reaction!!! I was sure you'd get it with this music and, boy did you ever. And, yes, just like with Heilung, The HU stirs our primitive blood. I really appreciated your understanding of the male/female balance within each of us. Your follow-up comments at the end of your reactions are always worth listening to.
Thanks so much :) glad you enjoyed it. This was a fantastic suggestion!!
The Hu: This band was founded in 2016. The syllable Hu in the band name is the Mongolian root for the word human. The band name roughly translates as 'the people'. The band's logo shows a snow leopard. The band chose this animal because of its mythical significance. Among other things, it is said to be a symbolic animal for ancient Mongolian tribes.
The four members of the band, Gala (Singer), Jaya (Singer), Enkush (Mongolian horse head violin, Undertone singing) and Temka (Mongolian Gitarre), all have degrees in music from the Mongolian State Conservatory. Jaya teaches there under his real name G. Nyamjantsan. The HU have modified and strengthened their instruments, which were mostly played sitting down.
The Hu call their style of music Hunnu Rock. They use traditional Mongolian musical instruments such as the horse head violin, the Mongolian guitar and also employ traditional Mongolian undertone singing. The HU have modified and strengthened their instruments, which were mostly played sitting down. From the field of heavy metal they mainly borrow the hammering basses for their music. (www)
thank you so much for this great information!!! :) very helpful.
Thanks for the information. 👍
Thanks for the personal history of the members. This explains a lot. Their knowledge of Mongolian history is awesome. I have watched 3 or 4 documentaries and realize I still haven't scratched the surface. Mighty warriors of history. Rugged people.
That's not just a snow leopard, it's the GREAT ONE HORNED SNOW LEOPARD! 🤘🤘
And the drums; don't miss the heavy hammer of the gods drums!
Rosalie, you are too cool for school. So much fun. Love you, best reactions ever.
:) thank you very much!!
Been waiting for this trip to Mongolia!
:) I’m excited about it.
you won't regret it :) been there 3 times :)
So they're singing here as a practice commonly referred to as throat singing. It is common in Mongolia and also practiced in Tibet by monks. I have attempted this technique and it is very difficult for me because I have breath control issues when singing anyways. We're always blows me away about this piece of music is the fantastic job they did picking up these instruments and recording them. What an incredible piece of recording work someone did with these guys!
Thank your for this content. I'd heard it before but I guess I needed to witness someone to "hear" it with their body and eyes. Dnle, Love. Peace and Love to you and yours.
"Song of woman" is worth a view too. Loved this.
I see that a lot other options mentioned, but most covers. For more original Hu songs The Great Chinnhis Khan and Yuve Yuve Yu (which even more mixes the modern and ancient with great visuals, although more melody and less chanting)...l got introduced to this band a few months ago and I am now hooked
Good reaction, good choice..👍
Hu, Hu, Hu, Hu, Hu, Hu..!!🔥
Your reaction is just like mine was when I first discovered the HU
Hell yeah! great song/vid, these guys are amazing.
They once did an impromptu show at a subway station in New York just for fun... there are videos on UA-cam it's pretty cool
The hu also has some awesome songs like yuve yuve yu and sad but true , woman song
Thanks!
Oh Snap! Truer words were never spoken!
I love this because I love indigenous music from around the world since I’m part Native American on both sides of my family, with Cherokee on my mother’s side and Navajo and Blackfeet on my Father’s side, the only grandfather I ever got to know was my Stepgrandfather who was full blooded Navajo
What a great reaction! Fantastic 👍🏻
I read that Mongolia was never invaded. (?!!) ❤ to you.
the instruments are called morin khuur and tovshuur. ❤️🇲🇳🐎
Got a more world bands for you to check out : shepherds reign ( Polynesian metal) and alien weaponry ( New Zealand metal)
I just saw them live in November and let me tell you, they put on a heck of a show. The energy you felt from watching the video was felt throughout their show!
Dear Rosalie,
Thank you so much for your reaction to this song. I feel the same as you, whenever I hear this song I just have to bob along. It always makes me happy when other people discover these cool guys.
I was lucky enough to see the HU live last month. Although I don't really like live gigs, I went crazy. After the concert I hobbled like on eggshells towards the tram station because my feet hurt from hopping around and stomping. Gosh, I'm getting too old for that kind of thing 🙈!
Lots of love from Switzerland 🤗🇨🇭
Really great! Melody, rithm, the voices... Amazing! Thank you for sharing your reaction!
Your reaction is priceless 🤣😂🤣😂❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏
wow
LOVE THE HU . He come to France for play ; great . If you like her can you listen to the group SKALD "O VALHALLA" live @ Hellfest 2019 ; old instruments and old lyrics viking . I love her clip "run" . KISS FROM FRANCE.
Saw these guys live in SoCal. We AMAZING! They really put on a great show
The HU are incredible, they've been one of my favorite bands over the last few years. This song comes from their first album, The Gereg. The whole album is great, and their second album, Rumble Of Thunder is even better.
and yep, my people definitel ycome from them, way back in the day, haha, before their horse fiddle and equivalent of a modern bass guitar, based off their instruments came about....we have a ton similarties, in all ways. Alaskan Native by the way, we are supposed to have been from that part of the world originally, at least some, fitting, from what I remember, language sounds similar, though different, along with mindset and conquering, we did that, also, us Tlinqets....
Batu Khan's troops (Ginghis Khan's grandson) came as far as Liegnitz/Legnica. The Hu comes all over the world.
In battle a warrior needs to be not only physically able, but also has to have psychological preparedness. Isolation and doubt is no stranger to warriors before a fight and the uninitiated often have a harder time mentally winning the battle of their own mortality. Chanting, bellowing out war cries and like dispels any fears which look to weaken the ranks. It also serves as tool of support amongst the group, letting one another know that they are not alone, it strengthen morale and in many ways it the purest form of winning a fight before it has even begun, so all that remains is the breaking of bone and the tearing of flesh.
I saw these guys this past summer in Massholia with Five Finger Death Punch and Megadeth. I've been a fan for a while and they completely crushed live.
New subscriber. Love your look, accent, and reactions.
Feed Love. Starve hate. 🤘
Something to think about; Wolf Totem is, quite literally, a 700 year old war chant used under the aegis of the Great Khan, set to music!
Haunting and primal, it's amazing, music like this shows, if the music is this good it does not matter where you are from or how much melanin you have in your skin, it hits you in a place that is so deep inside, you just join the F in and immerse you're self in it.
My favorite of everything I've seen from them is their collab with Lzzy Hale on Song of Women. Mongolian throat singing is very powerful but so is Lzzy. Yeah, these guys are great!
Love these guys. I discovered them a couple years ago.
You can check out the alternate version of Wolf Totem with Jacoby Shaddix. Another great song
2018 sang Dimash mit Tengri, einem mongolischen Sänger, das Lied Swan Goose (diesen Vogel gibt es wirklich :)
Die Begleitband war: The Hu.
* Swan Goose - Dimash & Tengri - ua-cam.com/video/8LEXQctl0Q0/v-deo.html
Yes, these band of Warrior Men are awesome and badass but but a collaboration with Lzzy Hale from Halestorm will show you that they know where they come from and is a powerful tribute to the women that made them who they are! Check out Song of Women and you will love it, I promise!
Also, that will be a great introduction to Lzzy Hale and her brother’s group, Halestorm. Lzzy is a force to be reckoned with as far as women’s rock vocals!!
Speaking of Viking, you should aslo check out Heilung! Maybe, In Maidjan, Krigsgaldr live or Anoana for a official video! Enjoy and I’m loving your channel! ✌🏻
Can't wait to check out that song. I've done a reaction to "Heilung", but it was blocked repeatedly on YT :( It's available on Patreon for all tiers. I'm excited to check out the Women song soon too. Thank you! :)
That low ongoing tone you talk of is called a Drone note. As old as the hills, you will find it in most cultures somewhere, used a lot in Classical music and even modern music. Nightwish use it a lot. A lot of Scottish traditional music and other Celtic / Saxon /germanic music incorporate it. The Bagpipes and Uillean Pipes actually have one or two pipes that are purely Drones. In all likelyhood it probably goes all the way back to our ancestors blowing on a hollowed out bone, sat around a fire in a cave. So yes, it is Primal and speaks to the Racial Memories in all Human species, even the ones long gone
When he sings it registers 6 on the Richter Scale!
The HU is a great band that sings about serious subjects in their songs. They invoke the rise of the spirit of the mighty Gehngis Khan and his ruling Khan daughters. They call against the oppression from Communist China and Russia. Who keep them down. They called for the return of the Mongolian warrior spirit that is missing in their society. The HU wants the return of the mighty Khan empire. True warriors at heart. I gathered this from many of their songs.
very interesting! thank you for that insightful comment and for the info.
I hope they don't literally want the return of the empire of Genghis Khan since Genghis Kahn was responsible for killing over 10% of the earth's population at the time. Today that would be the equivalent of killing every man, woman and child in North America and about half of everyone in South America. Or more pertinent to Mongolia, it would be doing a Thanos and wiping out half the combined populations of Russia and China. A country needs a warrior spirit for defense, just not the conquering kind, especially the Genghis Kahn conquering kind.
You speak great truths. So brilliant!! Thank you!
Need to check out song of women with Lizzy hale it's a must this band kicks ass you said everything keep rocking
I discover your channel. You got it right: head banging after one minute! No other way is possible. And you HAVE TO go to their concert. Full power for 2 hours!
Keep hear some of the other songs, they are amazing. I really love them. Have follow them for a long time now.
Knew you would like this group. They growl like Tatiana!!!!!
I loved this, now there's a collaboration between the HU and Lizzy Hale (Song of Women) that I would love to see you react to.
On another note if you want to be charmed you might check out the Mongolian singer Batzorig Vaanchig's song with his daughter, and some of his work which includes some throat singing.
Hi girlie; luv ya! Your reaction too. Pleeese do The Hu with Lzzy Hale, Song Of Women. Trust me, you like. Incredible contrast. Also, I should mention - you’re pretty!
Great reaction.
They call it throat singing. These guys are awesome
Great reaction
This song is the musical version of the "Braveheart speech!"
As a sidenote, I Love how much value you have been finding in the lyrics and sounds and now aesthetics of metal culture...Metalhead.
Horse head fiddle is the instrument played with a bow.
Great reaction and commentary!
Thank you very much!
Great reaction Rosalie! The instruments are traditional and I believe they use horse hair for the strings. I've seen the names in comments to others reactors but can't recall them now.
I’m glad you’re discovering one of the most badass bands I’ve ever heard in my life. I’ve enjoyed them for years now.
me too! :)
Isn't the throat singing AWESOME? Hua! Hua! Hua!
Yesss so epic!! :)
You need to react to the HU with Lizzy Hale and "Song of Women". The video features pictures of the band members and Lizzy as children with their mothers.
Heard this in an acustic version before, but this is way cooler. I love it
Another traditional band with modern instruments mixed in is a womans band from Russia name is otyken check them out as well
I believe the reference to "blue mane" is there because Mongolian babies are born with blueish spots at the base of the spine. These birthmarks usually disappear over time but for Mongolians it's naturally a very obvious identification sign and something that reminds them of their ancestry and ethnicity.
Am I the only one that when they drop into it tries the Aaahhhhhhhhh 😂 🤘🏼💥🤘🏼
On your thumbnail picture the man in the back on the right wearing a bandanna is the president of Mongolia
Interesting thing about the “wrath of heaven” reference, there’s a story (I’ll tell the short version) about a defeated King who was spared but his kingdom utterly destroyed by Chinggis Khaan, he asked what they did to deserve this, to which Chinggis Khaan (supposedly) replied “I am the Wrath of Heaven, if your sins had not been so great God would not have sent me to destroy you.”
The Hu are flippin awesome.
Next up: Heilung.
You gots to do Heilung.
This is one of the best rabbit holes you could have ever fell into! Enjoy this ride it's sooooo worth it! Hu! Hu! Hu! My recommendation for your next song The Great Chinggis Khan
You need to hear the version with Lzzy Hale of Halestorm!!!
Nice... great react
You really need to hear Song of Women with Lizzie Hale.. so good!
You should check out Batzorig Vaanchig “ throat singing with his daughter”, its charming and awesome in equal measures and then you work out what instrument his daughter is playing
If you haven't already. New Zealand should be your next musical destination with the band, Alien Weaponry and their song "Kai Tangata".
Yes! I agree with you on the beautiful divine masculine! 100%!
Another song by this group that you probably will like is "Yuve Yuve Yu". There are 2 groups from Mongolia that use the Shantz instrument, one is Shantz 3 and the other is Behi.
That was almost primal, really like it, there's spiritual feel to this music, even though I don't speak Mongolia.😆
The bird at the very end is an eagle, for those who don’t know the call.
It is not a eagle, but a saker falcon🤘🏼
@@altanzuldash-yampil306 Uuhhhmmmm - no. Check your bird calls. I have bald and golden eagles by my house. There are goldens in Mongolia.
Correction:
Instrument is "Morin khuur" (horse headed fiddle) a tradionnal mongolian instrument, two strings
You can even hear a neigh on this clip : 5:36
:)
Bottom line-I hear this coming out on the steppe, I running far and fast. 😳🤣🤣🤣
thanks for this ride today the first time I heard this it kind of threw me off but the more I listened the more I liked it it is different and just wild they can make you feel a certain way and some of it reminds me fo Heilung too so it was a fun ride today as always your ride or die forever Eyyy Oooo it just came to me as I was finishing this message they are primal and tribal and a little ancient as well
Yes well said. I think that’s what I like about them
Another singer you should check out is Aryuna Nimaeva. She is a Mongolian throat singer and uses similar instruments to the HU Band. Aryuna is ethnic Mongolian but lives in Russia. HU is more rock and metal. Aryuna is more pop. I'll link a video ua-cam.com/video/sjvoq7aFseM/v-deo.html
Also check out HU "Song of Woman" with guest Lzzy Hale from Halestorm.
ua-cam.com/video/mdN1U9NvuIc/v-deo.html
Their song Song of women ft. Lzzy Hale is gorgeous and delicate.
Well worth listening to!
Funny you should mention the impact of low voices.
There's a compilation video of women reacting to Tim Fousts low notes. They all looked like their ovaries were having a party.
The low notes have an actual physical and emotional
effect, I've felt it too.
Since you're into psychology, do you know anything about where that almost universal feeling in women to very low, male notes comes from? Left ove primal instinct?
I would love to know more about it.
Have you thought about doing a video about the physical and mental impact of music on the body and mind?
Very true. I don’t know as much as I’d like to about it but I plan to research more and I’m actually planning to start a separate channel where I go into more depth about the psychological aspects of music. More of an educational channel if you will. I’ll keep this platform posted when it’s ready.
@@rosalieelliottofficial Great idea! That should be *very* interesting. Maybe over time it could give me an answer why I as a man react so strongly to powerful female singers - apart from the obvious "it's hormonal" explanation...
Another should check out by the Hu is 'Song Of Women' ft Lzzy Hale of Halestorm ua-cam.com/video/mdN1U9NvuIc/v-deo.html
In Mongolia, women are highly respected and this song shows that
If you like world music I can only advise you to take a look at the Wagakki Band.
A Japanese band mixing rock instruments with traditional Japanese instruments, Koto, Taiko drums, Shamizen and shakuhachi as well as an incredible female singer trained in traditional sung poetry, Shigin. Although if you're not a vibrato customer, your ears may bleed 😆
The video grouping Homura + Akatsuki no Ito, with its 13M views is a good introduction to the band and made them known all over the world.
Even though I'm a fan of symphonic metal, The Hu and Wagakki band are among my favorite bands.
Thank you for the suggestion :) I do like vibrato in a voice, just prefer it in moderation. But not unwilling to be open minded and who knows? I may grow to like it. Made a note. Def interested in your suggestion. Thank you
Well you got introduced to this band faster than I thought you would. They have done a Hu-Version of Sad but True (Metallica) that I think is amazing. I love their throat singing. I think that there is a song out there that you would love. Woman's song ft Lzzy Hale of Halestorm.
We will always have conflict and war as long as we praise it, add it to our sports, gaming, cartoons etc.
Chk out their song:
"YUVE YUVE YU"
ANOTHER HARD BANGER ALSO
ANOTHER VERSION OF" WOLF TOTEM" WITH "PAPA ROACH" IS A MUST SEE🎶🎻🎸🎼🎧👊💖
