little side note. Most of the Animals mentioned in the Song are Animals usually associated with Countries around Mongolia who, at some point in History, have tried to fight Mongolia and got the shit kicked out of them... This is basically a 6 Minute "Dont fuck with us" kinda song.

    • @Tyraeleon

Even though Mongol Empire did eventually separate and split up, the direct descendants of Genghis Khan survived as rulers all the way to the 90's as they assimilated into different cultures until they were overthrown from Communist uprisings or other means.
And yeah, China did give them trouble, but it was eventually conquered by one of the descendants and they even created a "chinese" dynasty called the Yuan Dynasty. It was the only foreign dynasty (not chinese) to have ever become a dynasty.

The Mughals have a very special lineage. Their founder Babur is the great grandson of Timur(Tamerlane) from his father's side, and a descendant of the Mughal Chagatai khanate (descendants of Chagatai, Genghis Khan's second son) from his mother's side.
It is as if they were destined for conquering something

Finally you get to see and hear the power of the "Mongolian horde" personified within the Hu.
The first time i heard them, knowing they were from Mongolia, i was hoping for 2 things, traditional instruments and traditional throat singing and was not disappointed, even more.. i wasnt expecting the power they have, the big sound and driving force within their music.. i fell in love within seconds.
I can only imagine if these guys were making music in the days of the great Khan, that they would be the battle band for Ghengis Khan himself, to strike fear into the hearts of their enemies.
After all, if you manage to strike fear into your enemy's ranks, you already won half the battle and with these guys... you're gonna win.
Great reaction Mr. Rock n Roll, i know you're into the music when you spend more time standing than sitting, and this time? you're standing/dancing/moving most of the video lol
It's with music like this, i feel that the internet does its job as intended, showing us all the wonderful music from across the globe.

Wrong about the throat singing. It is genetic and therefore absolutely effortless. My grandfather was from Siberia near Mongolia. I can sing like that effortlessly. I can just flip my voice like that instantly with zero effort. I was able to do that even before starting kindergarten. The rest of my grandparents were from Austria and St Petersburg, Russia. Remember that during the Ghinghis Khan and Timur Lenk, the Mongol Empire occupied more than half the world known at that time, their armies knocking on the gates of Rome. It was not a joke with them, they were a huge military force. Even though Mongolia does not really count as a military force at present,
if some mongoles warn you not to mess with them ... it would be good to take care of it.

Man intensely struggles with a leopard to contend
We, the lions slaughter the leopards in a match
The tiger beats the leopard in a contest
The elephant trounces the leopard in a fight
Man strenuously strains with a leopard in contention
An instigator, the jealousy of a snake it could be
And Khan Garuda leaps up above into the air

The blue wolf comes too from far away
    Hu - hu - hu - hu...

Ten thunderbolts strike at the same time
A hundred hearts energized in the thundering roar
    Simultaneously a thousand colliding thunderbolts
And too, ten thousand lightning strikes in the heavens

Saw them live this February. One hell of a show, somewhere around 500 people (or more) chanting "HU HU HU HU HU" as loud as we could and pounding the air with our fists in time to the beat. Not gonna lie when the show was over I where looking around for my a horse and sword wondering what happened to them. And then reality came back......

That driving beat just gets in your bones. I’ve listened to “Yuve, Yuve, Yu” and it was just as good. It was so good I’ve just ordered their Debut CD “The Gereg”.

The Mongolian guitar is called the Tovshuur. I forget the full name for the horse head fiddles, something Khuur. Do not ask me how to pronounce them because I have no frigging clue.

Mr. Rock N Roll, you actually show a good ability there at the end with your throat singing, and you hit the right key too, the 'Eb'. In fact, you've got the voice and tembre for that, it seems. Thank for your genuine reaction, wouldn't want it ANY other way ! I was head bumping with you the whole time from beginning 'til the end there. 🤣👍✌👏😎

Mongolian throat singing and the guitar like instrument is a turvuur, a three stringed guitar and if you notice, Temka's turvuur is shaped like a Mongolian horse bow.

if you are into reading, then the Conqueror series by Conn Iggulden (which covers the whole story around Dschinghis Khan, his conquest and the fall of the mongolian empire two generations later) are a great treat. After reading you will also see the references in several of the lyrics of The Hu that refer to that period in Mongolian history.

Everything in this video, apart from the bikes, the clothes, and possibly the drums, is entirely traditional. I've been saying for years that throat singing is MADE for metal. Incidentally, "Hu" Mongolian for "Human"
