I had third party batteries for my A6400 from Ravpower. They held up reasonably well and I had no issues with shorter battery life. One of two died after two years of use though while the original Sony battery is still working like a charm after 4 years now. Used them all the same. As for the A7IV, I have bought an additional Sony battery and yesterday my dummy battery arrived. Now I can also use it with a powerbank or mains power if it is stationary. Only thing I am unhappy about is that the battery door can't be closed because of the cable. The A6400 battery door had a small "door" for the battery cable so it could be closed without problems. PS. Coming from the 6400 which had 40-50 minutes of battery life in 4K, the A7IV feels like a marathon runner to me. I know it is a sprinter compared to other brands, but I am very happy with it.
Thanks for sharing! Yeah I just take the battery door off. It's definitely annoying though. You know a camera's pretty good when these are the kinds of things to complain about 😂
I totally agree. I upgraded from a7c to a7iv recently. The first thing I realized was the battery being drained fast, and I use Sony batteries. I was upset to see the battery life go down from 100% to 92% after changing settings for few minutes... Sony definitely need to work on this problem. Nice content btw
😂 no worries. It's fun we both had the same solution. I talked about it even more in my last video. It's overheated on me once using that kit but i'm still really pleased with it.
Hey hey... your vid came up in my recommended list so I took a look-see. May I respectfully suggest to keep your commentary pithy... to the point. I.e., a lot of words were used to communicate a simple point and I grew impatient and started scanning for the punch line. I found your commentary about the office interesting, but that is actually the subject of a different video. :) Good luck!
It’s showing $78 on Amazon rn. Off brand is half that. Compared to the $15 GH5 batteries I could get it’s quite a bit different than I’m used to lol especially when buying 2-3 at a time

Thanks! Yes it's an adjustment, but everything else about the camera I love, so I guess there's a trade off with everything.
Hi Man! You started the subject at 3:52 in a 8.5 Minute video. Got to change that or you will lose views man
I've added chapters for those who want to skip 👍🏻
@@zachwilkins Sorry man, Didn't mean to disparage you. I just thought you will lose viewers. All the best !
@@sachinnair3820 All good!
you should get the Anton titan powerbase kit, it gets about 8 hours on the Sony. and since it uses a dummy battery it doesn't overheat either
Did you watch the video? It's in the description too 😉
@@zachwilkins ahahaha my ADHD made me space out ahahahha

Thanks for the feedback!
Now you made me not regret my lumix s5, battery lasts me 2.5-3 hours of street photography, my a7ii 45 mins.
Nice! I miss the battery life on my panasonic for sure
@@zachwilkins the reps gave me 4 stock batteries with my camera, couldn't pass that up. Also charging them only to 80% helps extend the cycles.
@@jayc9184 Really? That's definitely interesting. Wonder how that works lol
I bought all official batteries because I was slightly scared to put cheap batteries in a $2,500 camera lol
Wise man!
2 hours of 4k recording on an in grip battery is about as good as any other camera does, no ? For photography, it lasts ages.
Good to know!
Go to Canon C70 or R5C that would be a better switch for you
Battery is less than $70👀
