If you use a photo for modification like shown in your video, should the SketchUp geometry then already have the same or at least similar proportions as the used photo?

Yes! It should be, I have tried to match it roughly but not very accurately.

A great contribution from you and the "rastering" with any simple but subsequently changeable SkUp base component shown in your video is many times better In my opinion than all the Adobe PSD or AI alternatives.
