That’s a good one, Steve. As many fishing videos as I’ve watched, you are the only one that’s mentioned a soft body frog on a flashy swimmer. I am going to try this. Thanks!
steve, I fish just about mostly the zoom HT. one of the things I've done is to use a clear smooth glass bead up the line. when its wet, it sheds weeds like nothing else. and I also think it helps move the bait inside the fish mouth on the hook set. plus, it adds a little more weight to the rig when trying to make those (preferred) longer casts... been waiting and looking for this video! thanks!
Thanks Coop.. One of my Favorite Frogs To Fish. Rage tail make a great one too. If they are still around. Before the frogs came out I use my spinner baits across the mats. The double blade work the best. It didn’t matter if the hook was weeded up as long as the blades were slapping the mat.
@@indeeponthedeltawithstevec5997 it was long before the frog top water.. I was tossing for green bass and by accident. A nice one exploded on it while I was reeling it in across the weed line. I don’t do that now. I would flip flop my bait on the mat. They like the sound of the blades clacking together.
Thank you for this video and the weekly reports! Ive never fished this style, but want to give it a try! I got my PB last year on a whopper plopper (8.5lbs), but havent got a sigle top water fish this year. 2023 has beeen WEIRD! Hopefully it gets back to "normal" soon!
Thanks Steve, great info, can’t wait to get some and give it a try! For a beginner what are your recommendations on rod length/weight and types of line/leader? Also, how long is the frog bite on the delta and what is the best time of day?
For the horny toad a generic 7'2" MH rod-50 or 60 lb braid with 3 feet of 15 to 18 lb test mono leader. For the Air Frog go with strait 50 or 60 lb braid and your standard frog rod. If you watch my report for 7/6/2023 the big slow motion blow up at the start was on the air frog.
Green Punpkin is #1. GP will closely mimic both cray fish and blugill colors. If I'm trying to match a bait fish it's a white belly and gray back, this is universal color comb usually call ghost minnow. I'm not big on having a ton of color combos. Size, cadence and depth are more important. Don't forget, the most important factor is to fish in productive water.
??? mR siR.. Silver or Gold blades ....your preference ??? I've been looking at them on amazon off and on for a couple months but never pulled the trigger and ordered um yet... Thanks Dan
Steve im using a soft plastic frog cannot get a hook set & im using proper hook size. Do you think i need a softer plastic frog ? The one im currently using is like a hard plastic barely has some elasticity
It could be your toad, try a zoom horney toad. It may also be your rod, make sure you have a MH rod with some back bone and try 40 lb braid, with 2 feet of 15 lb test mono. Make sure your EWG hook is sharp. Let me know how it goes.

It's been my best bait for the last 3 weeks, lots of fun to fish and you can't fish it wrong.
Excellent video Steve. I will definitely give this a try 👍🎣
If you're on the Delta make sure to have a soft body frog on your line. Good Luck.

I will have to give that a try, I am a big fan of the bead, thanks.
Thank you Steve for sharing your expertise and knowledge
Thanks for the support Rob, I have a great hobby.
Good tip with that flashy swimmer Steve. Thanks will have to give that a try.

Don't think I have ever tried spinner baits on mats.

Congrats on the PB. Keep grinding, the delta is just starting to look like the delta - now is the time.
Great teaching🎉
Good video I learned a lot.

Happy 4th Zman billy goat is the best!! It floats unlike the rest!! You like it for flipping its better as a topwater frog.
I love the goat-I guess I need to try it as a top water. Thanks.
Steve are you using medium heavy rods and braid for top water and Fluoro for flashy swimmer toad?
THE GAMAGATSU DOUBLE DOWN IS " ESCLIPIATED ".... AS PER THE ESCLIPIUS STAFF USED AS THE SYMBOL FOR MEDICAL FIELDS.
What colors do you use when? Favorite color?

For the Delta with stained water, I like gold. Let me know how you like them.

Happy 4th , I had a decent limit today. I think the bite is starting to heat up !
Nice job Anaya-a decent limit can win you a tournament on the delta. Good job.
SO, DID YOU TAKE THEM TO COURT FOR THE INFRINGEMENT H.T. ???? 😏
Lmfao
Glad to hear you enjoyed the video. Good luck.
