Just to let you know CiderSpider, don't let view counts let you down. In any channel that focuses primarily on a single subject that branches out there's always going to be some viewership disparity. This isn't a direct result of the subject being less popular so much as it's a function of probability. Only a percentage of the established viewership will have interest in the new subject and so each subject must essentially be treated as its own long-term project. I mention this because I remember you feeling disappointed about your previous Fears to Fathom video and I thought to address it. All you gotta do is give it some time and let newer people find out about it.
Love seeing the alternate content! There's really something special about the first few hours of a new MMO, especially when it's a new/beta. I think it's just that sense of wonder and possibility that gets lost with experience/10 different online guides telling you how to optimize and get every secret. Even if it doesnt become a long term game for you, that nostalgic feeling is a blast
Honestly, I don't like it. Idyl Slop made a pretty good video illustrating the points why, but disconnected progression from chapter to chapter makes skills feel wasted and just generally a reaaally monotonous gameplay loop which made me fall asleep within the first few hours.
I'm enjoying it. I have a short list of reasons why I quit RuneScape that this game seems to know about and has fixed. REALLY hard to sell my friends on it though. "Yeah, you click the same things a hundred times and you level up after a few hours. It's great!"
fuck yeah. Thanks for all your hard work on your entertaining channel. From days of mad because small to flexing that RS history with Brighter Shores, I'll keep coming back.
Heh, I can watch your commentary on anything, and I'm glad I get to see a preview of this. But I never could get into RuneScape back in the day, I doubt I could stick with this one for very long.
Tried to get into Runescape a few times over the years but never got further than an hour or two. This clicked with me pretty quickly though. Got more hyped about the patch today that let's you click once to gather than for 7.1. I think this will be a good MMO to get really into for a time and then take longer breaks from it. Kind of like I was hoping New World would be before they added some weird battle pass. It's still early but so far the approach to monetization seems perfect to me.
I wasn't a fun of Minecraft, but damn that i love your videos that i can watch anything you make so keep it coming, even if it's a video of just you just talking about nothing, you would find a way to make it entertaining
Hey Cidar, Do you mind if I toss my thoughts about this game so far? (Some 20hrs in, with 2 days of afk training too) I'm.. very conflicted, and quite curious to hear if you agree/disagree with some points in my head too.
For early access the game is not bad, they update it regularly, already change some stuff for better, there were no server issues so far, and they are improving slowly, tons of early access games are much worse with updates taking a long time or just abandoning game, i would give 6.5 - 7 for now
just doing my part in driving engagement I probably would get bored of this game quick but im glad youre giving it a shot! the square tiles certainly remind me of maple story 2 so theres at least that
i played this game for 3 and a half hours and came to the conclusion that it is a fundamentally terrible game in its current state. loot being complete rng with the actual level barely mattering, just rarity. enemies being completely immune to damage types. xp potions being worth less than the inventory space they take up. and the biggest problem being the fact that there is no reward for grinding. the only "reward" for grinding is the ability to grind more. i hope it improves overtime, but i sincerely doubt that it will ever change enough.
Paying for a year by monthly sub of 5.99 is 71.88. Paying for a year by 4 90 day passes is 95.96. Paying for a year up-front is 74.99 WHO THE FUCK set those prices LMAO.
I think Brighter Shores has tried to be a casual game and a hardcore grindfest at the same time and it hasn't gone well on either front. You don't unlock anything different from levelling so there's no sense of progression. The combat jobs are the prime example of this; normally your incentive to level combat is being able to survive harder areas and see more of the world, instead you can go anywhere whenever and whatevers there scales to you. So there's no payoff to being a higher level. They've said they've done this so casual players can experience everything too but there really isn't much there for the casual player; what meagre story there is still requires a lot more time grinding skills to access vs time experiencing it, and any given side quest seems to require you to have spent several hours grinding one specific skill.
While the skill capes, and god forbid the max cape on OSRS are still great achievements of dedication and grinding, I realized that FF14 still has some bs that even outclasses that. Assuming the odds of winning the jumbo cactpot grand prize are legit and not rigged in any way, it will take you 64 years of your life to be on drop rate for winning the grand prize. Given how each thing is 1/10000, and you pull 3 each week for a 3/10k chance. Given how there are 52 weeks in a year, you got 156/10k chance or 1.5% chance to get the Mad Bird Ring in a year. 10k/156 (how many chances you get per year) totals out to 64.1 chance of being on drop rate for the ring... I don't think there is even a singular MMO that has been known about, let alone existed for half that time, let alone 64 years. And while I do think FF14 is a great game, I don't think it's 64 years old good for a live service game. Remember. This is just on drop rate. You could still suffer a dry streak, and frankly I am too much of a drunken lalafell to even fathom calculating that shit out!
I was hyped for this game, but after playing it..... Let's just say... making classes that are bound to specific chapters... is the worst game design I have seen in a long while. It makes the devs having to reuse the same farming spots over and over and over and over again, because they cant put the resources for fisher for example in the chapter 2 region... I knew every single fishing spot that I have to farm the skill at after 1,5h. I will never find another special spot or have to look for a special fishing spot because there are no others. You have to farm the same spot of fishes from level 1 to level 500, they just change their colour when you reach a higher level. So incredibly stupid man. It really is making me much sad.
Adventure time come on, grab your friends we're going to a very distant land cider spider and james the death crow the fun will never end is adventure time your personal theme song cider spider and also I want you too keep on playing this mmo game all because this is runescape vibes so there for please keep up with this episodes okay huge love cider spider k bye.
Not the content I expected to see this channel upload on 7.1 release day but definitely welcomed

No time to think, there's a forest to cut down
As someone who doesn't play FFXIV anymore, yet still watches your FF content, i can safely say that your personality and humour keep people watching!

What do you think of this game so far?
Some of the UI elements give me real 2010 Flash Player game vibes.
First impression is rough, but I don't doubt it will find its niche audience.
They are improving it with every patch. its gonna be peoples 'waiting for rare spawn' game for a while.
Honestly, I don't like it. Idyl Slop made a pretty good video illustrating the points why, but disconnected progression from chapter to chapter makes skills feel wasted and just generally a reaaally monotonous gameplay loop which made me fall asleep within the first few hours.
The new ffxiv patch seems to be a bit of a downgrade in the graphics department... and dont get me started with all the combat changes!
I'm enjoying it. I have a short list of reasons why I quit RuneScape that this game seems to know about and has fixed.
REALLY hard to sell my friends on it though. "Yeah, you click the same things a hundred times and you level up after a few hours. It's great!"
I appreciate the very quiet Smile during the disconnects.
I'm not looking to switch MMOs anytime soon, but I'm boosting this in the algo in the hopes that the RuneScape fans out there end up finding this
This game looks like HOT garbage
"We're under attack! Power walk as fast as you can!"
Shores Brightened, ten. points.
Yay! I’ve been curious about this, thanks for covering it!
fuck yeah. Thanks for all your hard work on your entertaining channel. From days of mad because small to flexing that RS history with Brighter Shores, I'll keep coming back.
40:07 And that need to unequip and reequip armor is why the Quartermaster's bank spell is awesome
24:37 i actually expeceted to hear "... 10 points" right here.
43:19 The XP boost from Knowledge Points is always ¼ of your current level's required XP, so every 4 KPs is 1 level in something.
I'm deffo excited for more of this series.
i love how quickly you got 23fishing when alot of ppl struggle after 20 good job you grind god
@11:46 "30 days for $6, 90 days for $24"...what?
This was really chill to watch :)
This game may be one to keep me entertained for some time
Hahaha the people fishing foreshadowing is great
Heh, I can watch your commentary on anything, and I'm glad I get to see a preview of this. But I never could get into RuneScape back in the day, I doubt I could stick with this one for very long.
hope this game gets some social features soon. it got a lot of potential when fixing the QoL stuff and introducing raids, bosses and parties
Mad because No Small!
great game great video 🎉
Thanks for showing off this game. Wasn't on my radar.
I like it. It's also fun to watch you play something else!
pretty good fist impressions
Oh no. My bing-bing-wahoo senses are going off. Number Must Go Up.
I tip my party hat to you, sir.
enjoying the variety

i will watch your stuff just for entertainment so keep it coming :)
Missed out on a "This is Thancred!" audio queue. XD
Brighter Shores, eh? I can definitely feel the RuneScape vibes. This one looks neat. I'll stay tuned.
Literally created by the Original Runescape Creator (Andrew Gower)
I wasn't a fun of Minecraft, but damn that i love your videos that i can watch anything you make so keep it coming, even if it's a video of just you just talking about nothing, you would find a way to make it entertaining
This looks promising. Will follow your journey and decide whether or not that might replace ff14 for me

0:40 Cool! So NOT a passion project, got it.
Yep, what a great way to get people fired up for your project!
I played a little bit of RuneScape back in the day, couldn't get into it. This looks neat enough.
just doing my part in driving engagement
I probably would get bored of this game quick but im glad youre giving it a shot! the square tiles certainly remind me of maple story 2 so theres at least that
Hell yeah spider get your mmo on ! I really like the art style great stuff! No killing goblins does no one read the sign!

AAAAGGH
I had to do the money order thing to and my brother didn't want to lol ! IT took like two months to get the membership
Kevin sells the best bacon
I've only played one MMO so far so I dunno what to expect from others.
Paying for a year by monthly sub of 5.99 is 71.88. Paying for a year by 4 90 day passes is 95.96. Paying for a year up-front is 74.99
WHO THE FUCK set those prices LMAO.
Monthly is auto renewal, so they are basically giving you a cheaper price for locking into auto renewal. The longer ones are one off prices.
This will be nice.
thanks god they finally put a single action click so is way better :D ( grind af but good (: )

More like brighter snores lmao boom gottem
No lalas? 0/10 crap game.
Commenting to appease the algorithm. 1 comment = 1 algorithm
What is this “La Mayo” you keep mentioning? Is it tasty? I am in the mood for a chicken, lettuce and la mayo sandwich.
All that time and not once did the sentence "Speak with Wuk Lamat" appear in the quests. Not a bad start.
i made it this far
Why every ff14 creator playing this game?
You'd think he'd name his new game like an evolution of Runescape, like Runeworld, or Runeverse.
If you like it, great. Looks boring as heck to me. I also never played rune scape so i guess its not really marketed to me.
Why can't I quit this stupid game?
Dang, not a fan of this game. Looks... bland.
