PUMA FOREVERRUN NITRO - A TRUE MAX CUSHION SHOE - BETTER THAN THE INVINCIBLE RUN 3? - EDDBUD
An initial review of the new PUMA FOREVERRUN NITRO, a brand new model from PUMA with 2 versions and softness levels of their superb nitrogen infused foam.
A shoe fired over to me by PUMA for review, but they are not paying me to make this video and wont be vetting my video before my valued viewers.
Cushioned and very comfortable this one is up there in terms of those max cushioned lower weight cruisers for 2023.
14 miles or about 24km in testing so far for this PUMA beast.
I comment on the upper, midsole and outsole after my initial runs.

Puma has knocked it out of the park with how good these shoes hold your feet. Just took the nitro elite 2 for its first run and the way it holds your feet is incredible. Puma coming in hot in 2023
I agree. These are great! Way more nimble than I thought they would be.
If I've added the scores correctly we have 6 mentions of the Vomero 16!!! 🤣😂 And up for comment of the year is " I'm not sure what that says about me, and I don't care!!" 🤣🙃 I was wondering how this would stack up against the Magnify Nitro. After a little over 100 miles the Magnify is the only recent Puma shoe that I haven't fallen in love with. Thanks for another great video and many thanks for all you do for all of us out here in UA-camville!!
Puma doing good things here. More about the performance than the looks. But that’s ok
Great review Edd. I’ll be picking this up to compliment my Deviate 2 and Deviate Elite. Loving what puma has been doing in 2022/2023.
Can’t loose if you love the others. A long range beast I think
When talking about the insolen i think a very important thing to mention is that it is designed together with Kaiser sport. Kaiser sport is a orthopedist specializing in insoles. So you liking it shouldn't be weird at all. I am definitely going to pick these up, since I'm a big fan of they Kaiser sport and their services and puma running shoes.
It’s a good insole. Higher quality than normal.
As someone who already has too many shoes, I can't wait to pick these up at a discount sometime in the near future. I absolutely adore the Vomero 16, and orange is my favourite colour, which means that this one is an absolute slam dunk, home run of a touchdown for me.
Gotta be a good pick for a discount bargain. Perhaps look out for a code or Puma sale.
Perhaps unsurprisingly for a new release, it's currently exempt from promotions. I decided not to sleep on this one, as the youth say, and ordered a pair from Start Fitness. I did an 11 mile run this morning in my Vomero 16s this morning but the Zoom Air unit caused some foot fatigue. I'm really hoping the ForeverRun hits the same spot minus the discomfort on those longer runs.
@@MrAsthenia My preferred running shoe colour is also orange and I have a dealer offering them with 22 % off but I hesitate ordering them because of the holes in the outsole ... sigh
Puma are absolutely smashing the market right now. None of the other manufacturers can get close to the value v performance Puma represents.
Yes you are spot on there.
Another good hit from puma! I’m heavily considering adding these to my daily/long run rotation.
Looks like that insole has a metatarsal pad to help redistribute the loading bearing and can help with anyone who may have pain in that area also. Great review!
Thanks for tuning in Jeremy
Recently bought the deviate nitro 2…wow I wasn’t expecting that. Really impressed with how it feels. Will look at the elite model for the spring maybe.
That’s a great shoe, for the price it’s hard to beat.
Puma is killing it with their offerings and you’re killing it with your reviews Edd. Thank you so much; love watching your vids.
Glad you enjoy the videos! Puma have some great models now
I'm a fan of puma running shoes. Was about to ask if it's a max cushion shoe. I'm glad that it is. Just hoping that we get them here in my part of the world. Another shoe added to the list. Great video edd.
Max cushion but not spongy. Nice comfort here
Really liking the look of this shoe, haven’t owned a puma running shoe yet but this looks like it might be worth picking up. In the market for a daily trainer!
The velocity nitro, deviate nitro and this are worth a good look.
Smell test is the best part
Great Review Ed and you’re bang on form in the humour department too 😂 This looks a good one and Puma line up gets better and better each year. Tempted but might wait until you review the imminent Reebok Energy Floatride 5 which looks equally a winner from the initial views I’ve seen so far. 👏👏
Still waiting on a pair of the energy 5. Excited about that one.
@@EDDBUD i recently picked up the energy 4's for £34 very comfy but am worried the foam is a bit soft. will test soon!
Had a blast from the past yesterday using the Zoom Fly Flyknit. Such a great shoe for some faster running 🤩 Potage bonne femme.
Was such a good shoe. Certainly not vin ordinare.
Absolutely top work with this one.... Laughed several times at your analogies 🤣
👏👏
I was on form. It was the rice, chicken and serious spice sent me wild!
@@EDDBUD haha.... I was going to ask what you were on beforehand 😂
PumaGrip is the road equivalent of Vibram Megagrip for trails. It's fricking awesome.
Nothing compares. Super traction.
The shoe feels so good. I accidentally tanned 18 miles in the shoe. My foot didn’t feel tired at all. And the furthest I ever ran was 6 miles. So I definitely buying 3 and 4 and puma nitro is a must have in my rotation now. I was a big fan of ultraboost and power run. But this is the best I felt after running. Not sore at all after a run.
Nitro is a good middle of the road foam. Superb for training
I ordered mine on release date, they arrive today (hopefully). I'm putting off my easy 10k until they arrive. I managed to get them for £98 with a 30% discount that I've been waiting to use.
Loving my pair! They check all of my boxes for a daily trainer. I don’t need stability, but it is so unobtrusive, it doesn’t matter.
Yeah they are a great shoe for the cash. People think they are some very in your face stability model but that isn’t the case
Love my Saucony Tempus for that extra bit of help along would be interesting to see if these are direct competition and how they compare
Seems like the tempus is similar.
This is really a good shoe, mine is coming close to its retirement. Hoping for a version 2 coming soon
I think they have a more maximised version coming soon
Appreciate your response, Bud! Btw what do you prefer more ForeverRun or Magnify nitro 2?😁
Definitely thinking about getting this stable little habanero pepper! 🧡
Not really much out there quite like it
Great review. It's a very nice looking shoe.
Much appreciated
You deserve all of your success 💯 Here’s to originality.
Thanks Mike! 👍🏼👊
I love the Velocity Nitro 2's so much I now have 4 pairs of them. That's not to say they don't last, I've used the same pair over the whole of the winter, and they still have life left in them now, and roughly 1300 miles in them too!!
Super outsoles too
@@EDDBUD The outsoles are awesome! Great grip on all surfaces wet or dry, and they last and last as well, they are magical. Just added up how many miles I've actually done in them, and it's roughly 1300 miles over the last 5 months.!!
Welp, and I just got the Nimbus 25 for my max cush shoe. (Love it though) I love the Deviate Nitro 2 for my faster runs and its my favorite shoe right now.
I really like what Puma is doing with their shoes….but really hard to find them in the upper Midwest region of the USA
I think they are growing their outlets and online presence. Though I appreciate people like to try before they buy
Puma are really killing it at the moment. I ran a 10k PB this morning in the Deviate Nitro Elite (the first version).
Cracking models right now
I've bought the exact same shoe and colour. One of my faves. I do appreciate more rubber on the sole, helps with durability. Come out with a good red Puma. This orange is street flagger bright. Brown's Shoes is offering 40% off.
Hard to beat on versatility
Got tired of waiting for vomero 17, was running in a 3 year old pair of the 14, tried these today, the cushion and the responsiveness was amazing, immediately bought them.
Glad to hear they are going to work for you.
As a big shoe manufacturer out there and looking to specialize in running shoe, they have to offer options for wider 2E 4E sizing
I’m sure they will look into that. Though Nike themselves who are shoe specialists offer next to no wife versions.
Enjoying the content... and there's something seriously wrong if you don't appreciate a nod to Hideo Kojima. Snake ...are you there Snake? SNAAAAKKEE!!!!
Snakkkkkkeeeee! 🐍
Another excellent review!
Glad you liked it!
The Puma velocity V1 is my foreverrun…1200 miles and still going! Interested to see how long they go for.
My word! That’s some good miles.
@@EDDBUD they’re my daily shoe for my run commute and some long runs. Very good recommendation of yours! 😁👍
we need a Boston eddbud meetup. hahaha. Highly recommend seeing a Red Sox game and visiting the JFK library :)
Would love to get some sport in when I’m there if possible
Pretty sure i'll be adding this to the collection , always seems to be some discount codes floating around for Puma..... thanks for describing the grip, something that is key but rarely mentioned by the other shoetuberists . had a few SOCK-A-KNEE of last that are less than grippy on damp tarmac ...... eh maybe you need an ADD-E-DAS ??
The guide 16 is up next. Lots of exposed midsole on there!
Sounds like a good shoe, talking of outsoles, the outsole on the new Mizuno Wave Rebellion Pro is mighty impressive, especially for a super shoe. Another point, the upcoming new Cloudsurfer from On is going to be a seriously good shoe, not quite maximum cushion but could certainly replace any of these shoes in a rotation and be a quicker shoe too
Quite a number of you seem keen on the mizuno.
@@EDDBUD you ought to try them, a fast shoe that I think is up there with the best
Great review, the Puma people seem to be doing an amazing job with the running tech at an affordable price. On a different note I'm a BDS supporter so will sadly not experience these bad boys.
What does it mean that you won’t use these shoes because you are a BDS supporter? I’m afraid I’m not as fluent in all the lingo as I should be.
@@iakona23 Puma sponsor the Israeli Football Association that includes occupied territories of Palestine. Some extreme human rights violations and a long history of brutal violence towards Palestinians that has resulted in countless deaths. BDS stands for Boycott, Divestment Sanction.
@@aeroman321 ok. Thank you. I guess that means that I also have to boycott corporations who do business or sponsorships with Russia, China, Iran, Turkey (occupied Cyprus, systematic warfare and human rights violations against Kurds and Syrians) etc. etc. That’s going to limit my choices a bit, especially the China part!
@@iakona23 you don't have to, no one person is going to right all the wrongs in the world but fighting for a cause you believe in, in whatever way you can, I think is important :)
this is what I wanted for the Velocity Nitro 3 I wonder how it will be then
Puma just always fits my foot better than any other shoe brand. They’ve always had very soft cushioning too. Not sure why they’re not more appreciated. Maybe because they’re seen as a casual sneaker brand rather than a running show company.
Yeah me too they just seem to fit the shape better.
I’m curious, you’ve always noted how the heel/forefoot height scales with shoe size-what about laces? Surely you’d think larger sizes need longer laces, but I wonder if that’s not always the case with production logistics.
Seems like some manufacturers take more care over lace length than others.
i got the orange color of takumi sen 8 after seeing your video
One of the best shoes out there.
Looks like a great shoe, thanks for the great review! And did I hear you correct that you're going to be in Boston for the marathon? I'm running the Boston Marathon this year and it would be neat to meet you 😁
I will be there as an excited observer!
@@EDDBUD that'll be so much fun because the city comes alive for the marathon!! Make sure you check out Mike's pastry for some amazing cannoli and have a pint in the cheers bar from the TV show. 😁😁
Getting another 100 miles from my Bondi 8 and then will bin off. These seem up there with the More 4 to replace, thank you
I had some insoles with a lump in them recommended for my plantar fasciitis ,they were the only thing that worked after trying loads of different remedies
Sounds like it could be the same thing here.
First run for me tomorrow in Pumas ( Velocity Nitro 2).
The Vaporfly 3 just dropped. Hope to review it this week. 👍🏼
Great video Edd. Was distracted by the sexy gun metal grey Sauconys behind you. What are they? I’ll buy them just to avoid constantly scrubbing colourful shoes clean.
The latest peregrine. Keen to test them out. The outsole appears almost angry!
The nitro range is goated
Too true
Cheers Edd.
Appreciated as always 👍🏼👊
Can you do a twist test comparison in the middle of the shoe and compare it with the Velocity Nitro 2 ?!
Hopefully, it will not twist at all since it is a well constructed stability shoe, I hope. In that department, I had no luck with the Velocity 2 ...
Thanks .
There’s some reasonable torsional support here.
What is that saucony in the back ground?? My eyes are drawn to it 👀
Me too. I asked the same question
Guide 16
I think you’ve duped us there Ed! Looks like the peregrine 13 gortex from doing a lil digging 😉
maybe I should get this one for my poor knees.... However my deviate 2 is getting better after 10km... And still fits like a glove... Grippy sole.
Same grippy feel but less rigid.
Been waiting for a review on this from one of the more prominent YT’bers, thanks! Would you say the guiderails would stop over pronation?
It’s there but not mega apparent.
@@EDDBUD thank you, sir!
Young Sir, max cushioned you say, would it help with my old man dodgy knees (a la Hoka Clifton)?
Yes more cushion and forgiving feel than EVA
Can the Deviate Nitro 2 not do the same job? It’s my favourite daily trainer
Different ride and less rigid feel.
Ed I want to tell you about my Li Ning Shadow Essential experience. It is a fail. Leave it from your list. 😅 Hard, No cushion, just uncomfortable. Good video 🤟🏻 btw
Sad to hear it didn’t work out
First for sure 🤜🤛
if this FR Nitro - a max cushion shoe..where does the Magnify Nitro 2 fits in ? hmmm
I think minus the stability element
What is the neutral max cushion Puma's model ? I dont like stability shoe with inside foam more firm than outside for pronation ....There is a Puma max cushion model for neutral runners?
The forthcoming magnify nitro 2.
Is it comparable to the Magnify Nitro? I have that one and really enjoy it, but it looks like this might be a bit lighter?
Lighter and more forgiving. Bit less dense.
@@EDDBUD thanks Edd! I'll be on the lookout for a good sale in the future then 😁
How does this compare to the triumph 20? I love that shoe
Not tried the triumph.
Ed, I know you're a big fan of the Velocity Nitro ... does this share any similarities with that shoe aside from the stability features?
More stack and a little more squashy here.
So this shoe didn't fit brilliantly out of the box. I managed to solve the problem by using a double layer.. A Scholl insole underneath, and Puma one on top, and it fits a lot better. So if you're finding the ForeverRun too roomy, you can always try that.
So good that you clean the outsole before reviewing..many of your youtube creator colleagues love to touch all the shite and debris and then having a poo fest on their table in the living room....
No I had to clean it up to make it presentable. Aside from the 100 mile reviews. 🤣👍🏼
How is this compare to new balance 1080v12? More cushion?
Not tried the v12. But this is nicer than the v11.
Hi Eddbud. Would these shoes be good for people with knee issues, ankle issues or both? Btw I'm new to your channel and love the review quality and the commitment to answer comments. Congrats!!
Also, would these shoes be harmful for supinator runners?
Don’t see why not. There’s a hint of stability here but it’s not too in your face.
Bought these, gave me terrible knee pain for days as soon as i finished 1st session running 6km. Hope this helps somehow
If you can pick only one between ForeverRun vs Velocity Nitro 2, which shoes is your choice, and why?
Probably the forever run, the other is a lower stack and not up to the longer efforts. Bit more versatility from the foreverrun.
@@EDDBUD interesting, definitely will look into it... btw, I am running with velocity nitro 2 at the moment, and got knee pain after run... it is not the shoes fault for sure, as my knee is not in great condition after 20 years of badminton... so do you have any shoes to recommend to reduce the knee pain after run? was looking at 1080v12, hoping it could soak up the beating on my legs a little bit
So if you were to choose between this and the magnify which would go for? Thanks!
Magnify for me. Though it’s close in fairness.
Hi and thanks for your review. You touch a bit on this but would you consider (as I think it is marketed) this to be a stability shoe or a neutral one? I am always hesitating to order shoes qualified as stability ones for my neutral wide paws. Thanks.
Its not all that noticeable in terms of the stability elements. They aren’t too apparent at all.
@@EDDBUD Thanks for the quick reply! I have and am enjoying the Puma Velocity Nitro 2 but their narrowness in the forefoot is a bit of a constraint for me. Those FoeverRun seem a bit more accommodable. Running shoes conceivers definitively have too small feet ....
Thanks for your reply again. Just received my new pair of Forever Run and I am a bit puzzled by the narrowness of the midfoot section (which is not often mentioned in reviews). Does the upper stretch a bit after a few runs? If not I am not sure I will actually keep those (unless I find a way for my feet to get slimmer)
Should I buy this over Addidas Ultraboost, Nimbus ASics or idk zoom Nike? Also, great video there!
Personally I think this ticks more boxes than the other more niche shoes
@@EDDBUD ah alright. Thank you for your opinion!
Would you say that this would be a good shoe for preparation to run a half-marathon , Edd?
Don’t see why not
@@EDDBUD Cheers Edd 👍
What u reccomend , Puma deviate nitro 2 elite or Nike pegasus 39 armor , both are like 110$.
The Puma is the better shoe. The Pegasus is ok but it’s being left behind by other models
Definitely replacing my Magnify for long and recovery days. They look really good to me also
A very good upgrade on the magnify.
Are you really going to Boston, MA next month Ed?
Yes I shall be in Boston for the marathon. Not running but I will be there!
@@EDDBUD Great, can't wait for the 🐐 content that is Eliud
The smell of shoes is important for me to buy.
Most important of all attributes.
got this on sale for 80 gbp (based on currency exchange) and so far it works as expected the only thing that bothers me is that although I tied up the lace tight it still looks like that the upper part is starting to loose. maybe same issue just like the Puma Pro foam but issue of that one is the tongue is always misalign while running. not sure if it's a Puma Thing? and since this is the first time wearing a cushion shoes I felt like I'm taller than a few millimeter 😅. overall it's a comfortable shoes and I'll be trying it out on a longer run in the weekend.
Not sure I found any tongue slide in these. Hope they hold up for you
I don't understand those shoe manufactorers. Don't they run themselves?
Seems like the perfect shoe for me if it weren't for those holes in the outsole.
Even if you stay on the road you'll have to check them and empty them after each run ... many of my paved roads have trees on the sides and there are acorn or pine cones on my path.
My Deviate Nitro 2 also needs a "hole check" after each run, there is always something in them.
It’s not too bad in these. Did a 12 mile run just now and nothing was picked up on the way.
How does this compare to the Saucony Tempus?
Tempus is faster
Not tried the tempus sadly.
Would like more of a rocker. Silly Swiss cheese sole
Quite flexible here in fairness.
Coz u said Vomero 16 one too many times… are those a better buy right now? 😅
Either models will fulfil the needs of the runner
I have an exact same colour of Boston 9 as well😂
Yes it’s very close.
What is the Saucony in the background?

@@EDDBUD Thanks
"A little bit soft and kitten like" Oh great, I don't want to feel like I'm squashing kittens! 🤣 Does seem like an interesting shoe though, but at the moment I'm waiting for the deviate nitro 2 to be swapped for a half size down.
I mean from the stroking of kittens.
@@EDDBUD Yeah, that's totally on me for having that mental image 😂
@@theghostofpcs2391 🤣🐈⬛
that puma grip looks thicker😳
Little thicker. Though the holes make it flexible.
Nice one Ed! I may have missed it, what was the drop? Assuming 8-10mm?
I wish they'd make more max cush/daily running shoes with low drop.
I know, Hoka speedgoat/challenger, but I haven't had good heel lock with those stupid achillies flare gravel funnels they all have now.
I'm after a good trail / road daily maxish cush with wider toe box and 5-4mm drop. Any suggestions anyone?
About a 9mm drop. Got the peregrine in for review so that might do it.
@@EDDBUD Yassss nice. I was wondering whether that might be a winner. Not so cushy as a speedgoat (I've been using the 4) but interested to know if it may feel comparable due to that peba insole and will be lighter, which is nice.
I am upset with Puma at present , I had pre ordered the deviate nitro Elite 2 on the 15th (due to me on the 27th) , I then get told by the site I purchased it from there was a delay and it would be here on the 1st , my last mail from the sports company advised me would not be in stock until the 13th! (and it was the suppliers ie 'Puma fault') a little upset , the company looks to be playing silly buggers with their top shoe again (only to be able to find in at 1/2 price in 6 months time) .. well as someone who has had every model this year from the Magnify through to the original elite .. I am not buying another shoe from them until 2024 + I don't like being treated like a mug , either from the sports company (who blamed Puma) or the Manufacturer .. yes I am just a number ... but a number with his majesty's drinking vouchers at the ready .. Puma's loss is Mizuno's gain
Shame you haven’t got them. It’s a magnificent shoe. 👍🏼
Similar to the Endorphin Shift at all?
More cushioned. Bit more forgiving
Is it a stability shoe??
Mild stability.
Sure looks better then anything Nike pushed out lately.
Rotflmao! Seriously? I would truly hate to see how your house is decorated. LOL!
@@stephanvonwolf5666 First of all, no one wants you in or near their house so don't even worry about seeing my decorations.

edd, as always a great review, I would like to know in your opinion is this new Puma shoe from the same segment as the Saucony Tempus?
