    To prevent the foam melt the butter completely and stir. I had that problem and melting the butter works every time.

      Also adding a little olive oil with the butter prevents it from foaming. 👍🏼

    I made this but really tweaked it.
    I used chicken bouillon to flavor the water.
    I used half and half, not cream
    I added some prepared horseradish, some dry mustard, some onion powder, some garlic powder, and some red pepper flakes.
    It was still easy and fast, but very tasty.
    Thank you very much for your recipe instructions. The pasta was perfect that way, and I am still learning processes.

    Last Sunday I made it as per your recipe.
    The only thing I added was about 3 tablespoons of freshly grated parmesan cheese.
    It was incredible.
    I took it over to my son and daughter in law's and our 3 young grandchildren ages 6 to 13, everyone loved it and it was all gone! Thanks!
    Tonight Wednesday I did the exact same recipe although I did add a small can 4 oz of mild green chili and 8 oz of imitation crab. Wow my wife and I loved it!
    I wanted to add a picture but I don't see a button...

    I think straining water before adding cheese, etc would be better and if needing more liquid increase your milk.

    • @Albertojedi
      @Albertojedi 4 роки тому +4

      Not if you are using broth for cooking the mac. You don't want to waste that flavory liquid. And in pressure cooking pastas if you are using the right amount of liquid there's no need to strain it.

      The starch from the water stabilizes the shredded cheese in the sauce so it doesn't break

      Do not strain it. That is nice & starchy, it helps the cheese get creamy & not to split.

      It's super yummy. You just use one of the small cans for 1 pound of pasta. Also if you add in a handful of mozzarella it makes it super cheesy (texture) and even stretchy.

    • @susanrich386
      @susanrich386 6 років тому

      Does this fix the “gritty-ish” texture?

    • @butterflyinflight85
      @butterflyinflight85 6 років тому +3

      Susan Rich no but if you shred the cheese yourself instead of using pre-shredded that does. The grittiness comes from the potato starch that they coat the shreds with.

Love having the inner pot stainless so I can use my immersion blender right in it without worrying about scratching. It makes potatoes great and fast! ok, just to let you know that I tried the mac and cheese and this does not work for GF pasta. I think it will taste ok, but I think that I will have to try just 2 minutes on the timer. I put in a quart of chicken broth, but it did not come up to the 4cup mark on the inside of the instant pot so I added some water till it did. I did not get the burn notice, but it is definitely sticking to the bottom of the pot. So if anyone else tries this just know that you are going to have to make some adjustments if you are using GF pasta.

    Oh my!!! My first official instant pot recipe since getting my pot last week and this is AMAZING!!! Thank you! I will never buy boxed mac and cheese again. This was insanely easy. I did add a little extra water and used different noodles. I added water because of comment to make sure the noddles were covered

      I had to add another cup of water to mine. Hope it works out ok. I used the same amount of penne and it wasn’t covered so I added more.

    Are you leaving it on sautee for 2 minutes or are you pressure cooking it for 4 minutes mine doesn't have a manual setting so I'm confused

      Your manual setting is PRESSURE COOK :)

      @@DriveOnGuard thank you so much I have the IP duo and this model doesn't have a manual button. I'm very new to the instant pot thanks for clearing this up for me

    I have made this a couple times and mine never looks like this. I always have a problem with the cheese melting. It gets clumpy and stringy.
