I'm so grateful someone finally took the time to put this critical information into understandable layman's terms! Hat's off to you Simon. I had already figured this stuff out BUT that was after a week's worth of testing, shooting, looking at the footage, testing again, making notes...blah blah blah. You did it in 10 minutes and 58 seconds. You're like Superman... with a glass of wine.
Thank you so much! Exactly what I was seeking regarding Yaw control, which is essentially our only means to PAN. And Cheers to you choice of your Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz Australian wine choice! Surprised you finished the whole tutorial without it becoming a blur of your words. Great Job!
+Simon Newton Hey, I just noticed you also use Power Director (14) I also use, but have Power Director 12 ultra. Wondering do you experience a lot of "PD.exe has stopped working" ? The thing just shuts down, especially when I try to edit 4 k. But even with 1080i files, the program crashes regularly, often losing the previous edits. Does that happen to you much, with your PD 14? Thanks.
Excellent! I LOVE flying over dams and making video but your advice is exactly what I need to dampen the yaw response. Going flying again on Thursday at some new reservoirs, so I'm greatly looking forward to much smoother video.
Perfect video, just what I needed. I was going to adjust the Gain to try for a smoother Yaw until I saw your video. Now I feel more comfortable with making one modification to get a smoother yaw. Much Appreciated!!
Something else worth mentioning, and this applies to prior Phantoms as well, is the ability to raise and lower (screw and unscrew) the control sticks. By increasing the height the controls are "slowed down". For the P2 this is especially helpful. While I've also raised them on my P3, the P3 has much smoother movements. Great information!
You have a Man Tin & you drink Aussie reds..... You got me when I saw those. BTW your tutorial for the slow pan was spot on... Took me less than a minute to get in & change down to 30. Onya mate.
Thanks for this great video - Is 0.30 also a good setting for the right control stick. In case of tracking a particular subject i.e moving left or right - or forward or backwards
Simon, great video explainer, thanks. Tell me, can you program either C1 or C2 buttons on the P3 transmitter in order to move from less-sensitive expo pan rate to the default settings? Do you have to go into the curves to make this change or can it be a one-button click to go from more to less sensitive?
Finally, a simple well explained and to the point video of what I was looking for; great work. Oh I live very close to the Houghton's winery, their Chardonnay is also a great drop.
Hi, I upgraded to the Phantom 4 (After I lost my P3 Pro in a fuming volcano - due to electromagnetic disturbances) and I 've been trying to tune the curves for the turn left and right motion.... but can't find the options on the p4... any idea how to do that there?
This is something that disappointingly was missing off of the P1 even though cheaper novelty multirotors had simple dual rate capability. I know some users wired in resistors to reduce the rate but this also reduced the resolution. This is the benefit of having a programmable radio such as the Taranis and other similar radios. As well as having expo on rudder, elevator, and aileron, there's a big advantage to having positive expo on the throttle where the transmitter doesn't have a self centering gimbal. It means you don't have to worry too much as to whether you have the stick precisely in the middle to maintain a hover. I've also programmed mine to beep everytime it crosses the mid position for extra piece of mind. Regards Nidge
Hi, I'm guessing as you've got a UAV certificate? Have you thought of doing a video about that..who should have one? how to get one? etc Do I really have to do a 3 day course and spend £1000 plus to get one? Thx
good video. when i first time fly my phantom, it feels so smooth. after 11-12 fly, i feel it a little bit aggresive. not so smooth like when i was first time fly it. i find that the beginner mode was off. it is effect if the beginner mode turn off?
Excellent tutorial thank you man. big thumb from Dubai & Beirut .:) man are you facing any issues with the new app 1.2.0 ..?? its horrible., agree..???
hi man,, i have a phantom 3 professional and for some reason i cannot change the expo values (rudder),, the numbers get red and nothing changes.. what could be the reason?? values goes from 0.2 to 0.8... thnx!!!
Very helpful! I wish this was as well explained in the manual. I am just realizing that you have to do everything slow if you want professional results, and then speed up in post if you need to. I have just been focused on learning to fly it, and just now have time to explore with getting more professional results.
When i change the expo settings and i put as you 0.30 rudder/left. The number becomes red colored. when i go back and come back in the settings menu the numbers have reset ... any idea what i can do ...
Marnix Verschraegen Did you resolve it? I have the same problem and I can't change it. its set to 0,40 and when I try to set different number it becomes red even if I press enter.
clear video thanks. I'm trying to make expo setting to get very soft rudder repsonse as i like to record some video softer as possible , but once i change the trhottle/rudder/forward-right expo values to the minimun: 20 , and i leave this setting page , the setting come back to the original value: 40. I cannot save this values , i really dont know what to do, if you have any idea about that.. thanks.
Hey buddie mim Jimmy in jersey,, USA!! Thanking you in advance for your time n this matter sir,,, keep up all the great work!!!! Again sir,,, thank you,,, Jimmy in jersey,,,
Great video -- disliked very much the P2 yaw / pan sensitivity. These P3 controls are exactly what's needed. Thanks for taking the time to explain and show -- off to setting my P3 yaw to the minimum!
I would love to see more people address the 60 bit rate. That is most definitely unacceptable. The people at DJI should not call a unit the phantom 3 professional. More appropriate would be prosumer. I had a client say the air footage was unusable.

Say that again I dont understand
Slower pan and yaw really increased the cinematics of my vids. Thx for the tip Simon, learning every day.
Finally a Phantom 3 video with valuable, pertinent information! These are video platform quads where this bit of knowledge is useful. Thanks!

Simon, thanks mate! I was trying myself and wasn't far, neither sure, but you help me a lot!!

Keep up the good work Simon love your channel ...cheers
Simon, is there any way to change the camera tilt so that it is not so abrupt? It is very difficult to tilt smoothly during flight.
Great video. I was told about this particular video to help me out with my pans. Great info.
Cheers! Thanks for the video. One question.. Does your pup always hide under the jump when you fly out back?
Fantastic channel! Beverage tasting and phantom 3 fun. I like it!
Nice video love the man tin I need one of them........just out of interest what tablet are you using with your pro3? Thanks
"It's quite late this evening"
Look at the sunny weather outside.
Lol. I was thinking the same thing @Wulfrune . Hahaha. Simon is drinking in the morn! ;)

Hello thanks for the video, what tablet is that?, and how it perform with DJI GO?
Checked this out this evening & delighted with result & am now trawling through your other vids, cheers 🍷& thanks for your time sharing, sub added 👌
Thank you for posting the explanation, it helped me to dial down my panning to get it perfect.

Could you recommend a gimbal /shop that is not too expensive....? thanks
Excellent video and the info here is great!

"On the fly" - Great video, thanks!
Great video. Funny fact, I am from the States but I used to work at the winery Houghton's when I lived there. Small world.
How to change them to default ?
my dji p 3 standard has slow decent. Should i Adjust it? It seems like grandma falling with a parachute
Great information, thanks for sharing!
Love it Buddy! I've found this to be very similar to what I like as well. Good Job!
Thank you soo much!! Cant wait to try settings out
That was amazing! You explained is perfectly...looking forward to having better 360 video
Excellent tutorial thank you man.
big thumb from Dubai & Beirut .:)
man are you facing any issues with the new app 1.2.0 ..?? its horrible., agree..???
why don't these settings apply to the gimbal tilt? On the phantom 3 the tilt is terribly rigid, with no gain.
hi man,, i have a phantom 3 professional and for some reason i cannot change the expo values (rudder),, the numbers get red and nothing changes.. what could be the reason?? values goes from 0.2 to 0.8... thnx!!!
Did you press enter to save settings. I take it your using PC app? Not sure how this works on App app... but there maybe a way to store them.
i solved the problem just by changing the language on my tablet from croatian (my native language) to english,, after that everything worked fine)))
Now I want to updrade my p2 even more.

you take 11 minutes to talk about a topic that should take about 2 minutes
