I am a bit overwhelmed with the way this video has blown and i really appreciate the thoughtful comments i've received. i noticed a few themes in the comments and i continue to get the same questions, so i want to address them here!
1) I did not jump from blind loyalty to democrats to blind loyalty to republicans. i simply came to the realization that i am not represented by leftism (which has overtaken the dem party), and I align better with conservatism. Typically that means i prefer the republican candidate, but i have no strong party loyalty. as many of you mentioned there is plenty wrong with the GOP as well. I purposefully did not include a ringing endorsement of the GOP for that reason.
2) i have specific and compelling reasons why i am conservative vs libertarian or moderate etc. and i arrived at those reasons through a lot of introspection and research. i am less concerned about the superficial issues of today and more concerned about the enduring principles we stand on, as well as procedural adherence to our founding documents. I've read a lot of Burke, Scruton, Sowell, etc. and i was impressed with their arguments. i did not expound on those arguments in the video because i didnt want to babble on for hours. If you want to understand conservatism, those writers are a wonderful place to start (try sowell, hes all over YT!), or check out ben shapiro. the point of this video is not to make people conservative, but rather to explain why some people choose not to be leftist.
3) I purposefully did not discuss God because religious arguments can alienate nonreligious people, and bc it wasn't necessary to make my points, but I did experience a parallel journey over the same period of time. Maybe someday I will make a similar video about how I came to my religious convictions.
4) i am very certain that nowhere in the video did i say "racism doesnt exist", but if that was your impression i will clarify. racism exists, it's an endemic human evil, and we ought to do our best to fight it any place we see it. my intention in this video was to shine light on an overlooked element of racism that is running rampant under the guise of "morality". i think the stealthy way this type of racism works is particularly dangerous and insidious. I believe telling a child they are hated by their society and doomed to fail is the most oppressive form of all. anyone who hates racism should be up in arms about this with me. we ought to fight it as ferociously as we fight other forms of racism.
5) i am very aware of the marxist influence on society and I have been monitoring this trend for the past 2 years since becoming aware of it. it is clear to me that there is a persistent effort afoot to divide us along color lines. the true intention of this video was not to sway voters in the upcoming election, but rather to undercut the divisive marxist messaging that now pervades the west. i want people to see that ‘compassion’ run amok can be weaponized, and it can take us further from healing, not closer. the internal cancer that is marxism is much bigger and broader than this election or even this country.
6) i am not a russian bot! nor am i an actress (as flattering as that is!). the reality is i posted this video on my facebook and it blew up. trust me no one is more shocked than me.
7) this has been hard on me, socially. a lot of people i care about would prefer i take this video down and i often think about it. However, I feel like the situation were in as a country requires us to be brave and take the flack.

9) i love and respect a LOT of dems, and i dont want to bash them. i just wanted to make this video so people would understand other perspectives a little better. also, i have a lot of love for REAL liberals who think for themselves, even if they come to different conclusions. i dont think the dems represent them very well at the moment either.

Great points about the dishonesty and cruel outcomes of the Democrats and the media, what bothers me is why no one explains why? Why are they doing this? I'm sure they don't view themselves as being horrible people, so what's their rationale, and how are they able to get away with this for so many decades? And yes, I almost forgot, how are we planning on fixing that or creating equally powerful fight to preserve freedom? I'm tired of conservatives having good talk shows and good points and never win anything directionally!
A good answer requires me to dive into the philosophical roots of both the progressive and conservative worldviews. Overall, most progressives are sincere. The issue is that they are so passionate about “helping” that they become reflexively defensive toward any perceived attack on the preferred policies, and that well-intentioned enthusiasm renders them blind to the negative consequences of the policies. Conservatives, on the other hand, resign themselves to certain persistent problems that they feel are inescapable aspects of human nature. They are focused on maximizing the best *possible* outcomes, which often appears callous and pessimistic to more lefties who think we must do “better”. It’s a tricky balance because we should always try to do better, but the left has near-complete blindness as to when it crosses the line and veers into utopian territory, which ends up causing profound harm, typically to the very people they set out to help. They feel righteous anger when conservatives point out that dangerous line because they don’t appreciate the existence of the line.
To dip a pinky toe into the core reason for this disparity, I would say it has to do with religion or lack thereof. Tho not all conservatives are religious, the conservative philosophy is premised on a biblical understanding of humans. That worldview holds that we are deeply flawed (yet worthy of maximal dignity as God’s image bearers), that utopia is impossible on earth, and that attempts to cheat this reality will always come back to bite us. The worldview is explicitly theistic, which has two paradoxical effects. First, it lowers humans esteem of themselves in relation to a higher intelligence, which has the effect of tampering the hubris that leads to Utopianism. Second, it paradoxically elevates the value of human life, which leads to concepts like unalienable rights, which favors heavy emphasis on liberty.
Alternatively, a secular/materialist worldview doesn’t put any guardrails in place for what is possible, aside from material laws. They have no language or philosophical basis to understand or anticipate a permanently broken human nature, thus no guardrails against Utopianism. Also, a worldview that doesn’t include God necessarily elevates government and elites to the highest echelon of acknowledged power. Their sense of total dominion, paired with a ravenous desire to chase utopia, predisposes the left to power hungriness which typically manifests as paternalistic big government schemes. Most concerning, without a theological basis for human rights all human rights are rendered subjective and thus subject to whims of the powerful, which inevitably fosters an “ends justify the means” mentality. When hubristic elites believe (sincerely!) that they’ve divined the best path to utopia they are capable of guiltlessly trampling the rights of people who stand in the way - as long as it’s for the “greater good”. The same justification applies to all manner of strategic manipulation. Not only is there no guilt, they feel morally exalted for behaving that way as long as they believe the utopian results will be worth it.
In terms of fixing it, I think there are two strategies. First - stop the hemorrhage. We need to be more aware of where and how the younger generation is being subverted away from our bedrock values so we can combat it at the source. We can partially inoculate young people (and adults) against subversive culture by making them aware of it, which immediately inoculates them to some extent against total passive absorption. Second, we need to actively affirm our values at home and in the public square. I am a firm believer in freedom of conscience and I don’t suggest pushing any beliefs on anyone, but I do believe good ideas are worth sharing. We have incredible intellectual heritage from our founding fathers and we can enrich our communities by sharing that heritage. Some people will be upset by your ideas, but ultimately you are doing them a service by giving them additional perspectives to consider. A straw-man understanding of opposing views is a counterfeit option, and our fellow humans deserve a genuine choice. Sharing ideas in the public square needs to be wholistic and emotionally compelling, so that means going beyond intellectual discourse and infusing it into art, entertainment etc. For most people, this just means living more authentically in their daily lives and allowing their values to shine through in whatever they do, and supporting art that represents their values. The best thing about being authentic is it will give other people courage to be authentic as well. Ultimately, leftist hegemony is a paper tiger that can’t withstand widespread honest debate, so we need to collectively bring that debate to the fore in big and small ways, which often boils down to just speaking up honestly about your opinions in a respectful, constructive way.

I agree! And thanks for the great comment. You did a good job of articulating the most common (and most important!) questions I’ve gotten in the comments for this video. I wanted to reply at length just to add my two cents on this topic so other people can see!
In addition to the obvious specter of being “canceled”, I think there are two things in particular that stop most of us from asserting ourselves. First, is the resigned belief that our point of view can’t be taught through anything except life experience. Many of us started on the left and we know from experience that only hard life lessons are potent enough to pierce through ingrained ideology. We anticipate rabid push back and/or negative consequences for offering dissent, so the whole enterprise feels fruitless and even risky. While I think this is often the case, especially with very progressive types, we often underestimate who will be receptive. A lot of people are performatively leftist because that’s all they’ve they’ve been taught and theyve learned to fearfully suppress their own doubts. Those people may behave reactively to dissent, but the message will still percolate even if they don’t show it. It may feel fruitless in the moment, but the seed will be planted because it will resonate with their suppressed doubts. You never know which leftists are this type. Its hard to believe it, but a lot of people quite literally have ever been exposed to high quality intellectual dissent to leftism, and it blows their minds to hear their own doubts articulated out loud by another person.
The second reason people don’t speak up is because we ourselves have absorbed the anti conservative propaganda. We may have fended it off more successfully than our progressive peers, and we may be capable of observing it consciously, but virtually all of us have absorbed it to some extent. As a result, a small part of us worries that we may in fact be “on the wrong side of history” as the left likes to claim. We hesitate to say anything we may someday live to regret. As far as this goes, I don’t have great advice because I myself suffer from it. The most helpful thing I’ve found is to remain cognizant of the fact that we are steeped in a vat of propaganda. Understand how it operates and be humble to your own susceptibility to it. Beyond that, think deeply on why you believe what you believe. Look for holes in your arguments and do your best to sincerely sharpen your views. But don’t just look for criticism - also read/listen to people you respect defend their views and appreciate their dignity as they do. When you feel like you’ve really done your homework in forming your views, and you’ve found fellowship in some capacity with other people who share them, you can develop a quiet confidence in your own rational faculties.

Basically, according to Prager, conservatives have the Judeo-Christian world view that the world is basically evil and that the greatest problem we need to overcome is the person in the mirror. We cannot change others but we can inspire them by How WE choose to live our lives and treat others;that is, taking responsibility for our personal lives. Contrast that with the world view of the Left which is the world is basically good (a materialist view that is godless--man can bring utopia) and that our greatest problem is not ourselves but is the Government. The government is the giver of all good. Government is the God of the left.

Uh, Bernie was terrified out of his mind that he'd actually win the nomination, he was never in it for that. Not just people around him saying that, but body language experts all agree, look at the relief on his face when he announced he was dropping out, like all of the weight in the world had been lifted from his shoulders. For that matter what a disaster he would have been as a President, US does not exist in a vaccum and his foreign policy was: retreat, appeasement... we know what that gets you. I can think of gazillion reasons to ditch D. party that have nothing to do with Bernie Sanders. But glad you saw the light.

I once had a relative drive 2 hours to my place for a visit and it was at a time when Trump did something that the MSM were (predictably) reporting it in the most biased light. I asked him what he thought about it and he predictably parroted the MSM view but when I calmly explained why he was wrong he got so worked up that he said "one more word and I'm leaving" (he had only just arrived minutes before). I made a facetious comment which made him flip out and he gets up and grabs his wife and leaves.

This is almost identical to my journey away from the Democratic Party. When I finally realized what was happening, I felt like such a sucker. I was embarrassed that I had been fooled for so long. I have a lot of regret for things that I had said or did in the past based on these faulty beliefs. Never again....

Same. It was really difficult for me to come to terms with the fact that all of my previous beliefs were ridiculous, radical, and extremely idealistic.
I grew up a few hours drive north of San Francisco, twenty miles from the ocean, in an extremely liberal family. In college most of my peers, including myself, were liberal. After years in the real world I became more conservative. Owning businesses and becoming a productive member of society will do that to ya🤔 I’m filled with empathy, love, and understanding. I lived with both trans and gay people and used to go to gay bars with my roommate in my early twenties all the time. In fact, I met my black girlfriend in a gay bar. I’m almost fifty years old now and am married with children. My in-laws are extremely liberal too but when my nine year old daughter told me half her class is trans, I wondered why the F my child even knows these things🤬 I genuinely will love my children regardless of what their religion, sexuality, etc becomes but after some investigation it became abundantly clear that there really is an indoctrination going on. Victimhood is a new religion and it will have detrimental consequences on the youth. The fact that I have to preface this comment with my backstory really shows where we’re at these days and how utterly insane this “woke” ideology has become. I’ve been called a transphobic, homophobic, racist. Ummm🤔 I’m pretty sure transphobic, homophobes don’t voluntarily live with trans and gay people and racists don’t date the race they supposedly hate. Yet, here we are. Honesty and integrity are supposed to be the foundational blocks that we base a civilized society on and the “woke” lunatics are the antithesis of those morals. These “woke” piles of human sh!t need to quit hijacking our emotions through blatant lies and quit preying upon actual victims as they push this ridiculous agenda. Teaching prepubescent children that it’s cool to be a victim through their sexuality is as bad as teaching black and brown children that all white people are racists and hate them. I was born to an Immigrant Family from Ireland. They always pushed America first as well as serving in the Military here as well as Iron Workers who built the skyscrapers throughout the City of New York or became NYPD or NYFD.
So, since I started voting and was forced to hold my nose a couple of times. Yet, the last 2016 election, I was all in for Trump. This go around, I'd love to see a do over and give Trump a 3rd term.
We all know that won't happen, so, I will be thankful for 4 more years with our beloved Donal John Trump.

My favorite so far in the Walk Away series. You summed up my feelings exactly. I'm 66 and my faith crumbled after Obama was elected. I was literally dancing in the streets I was so excited as where we were as a nation. The change we could believe in. It was just one disappointment after the next . He didn't accomplish a single thing he ran on. From the health care , the labels on our food, closing Gitmo, codifying Roe, the No lobbyists in his administration, the Nobel peace prize winner droning the F out of the Middle East , the water in Flint tasting great to him, the implication that we were a racist nation when we had elected him twice to the highest level in the land etc. etc. yet it still wasn't enough for me to walk away. Covid did it for me. The fact that if you questioned anything you were a hateful far right extremist. The censorship to protect a narrative that turned out to be a colossal lie when you felt it in your bones. The propaganda and idolizing Fauci that had at the very least a questionable career, the mandates, business closings and total disregard for the effects this was having on our school systems, our children. It was all so sinister and far deeper than I could imagine. I was pretty much done then. I am just still in disbelief as to how far and gullible the democrats have gone since Biden was elected. It defies all logic. They have zero compassion in them. How you can see whats going on in the trans community and not question the boat load of heart ache coming to these peoples lives. How you can sit and watch the border issue and not see the devastation it's causing. Not just for us but the immigrants themselves. There is NOTHING compassionate about any of it. Our elected officials are attending the WEF in Davos, the bull shit solutions for climate change being offered up by people flying around in private jets, with private yachts living in multiple mansions that are sucking us dry is in your face yet ignored. The Gates foundation, Clinton foundation, Epstein's client list ,the endless wars, the condemning journalists and glorifying script readers pushing divisiveness and hatred. There is a demented man standing at the helm that is NOT in Controle of anything . Who is running this country? Call me a racist, call me anti-trans, call me unamerican, call me a far right extremist, call me anything you want. I don't care anymore. I am so done with the democratic party. I wish your message could be required viewing for students. Not to make them conservative, but to help them realize that they need to think for themselves. That's a tall order, as public education has banished Critical Thinking in favor of obedient indoctrination, there are huge penalties for critical thinking, and God forbid students actually question their indoctrination. That's it right there. I am a white American conservative who loves his country, and I have many, many close friends of all "colors" and "races" that I truly love (my opinion is there is only ONE race: the race of men and women). I don't want racial division. I want to come together and make a better country for ALL people to flourish in. That is the only way forward as far as I am concerned.

@@delubiod1970 essentially, the modern Republican party has shifted to the extreme by advocating for increasingly anti-science policies on health care, reproductive rights, global warming and so on. They have been completely destroyed on objective facts and science, so they've resorted to this populist rhetoric and cultural war nonsense that ultimately does not matter.
This is rooted in an existential crisis that the white culture is increasingly becoming a minority (the replacement theory). Not everyone on Right will say they believe in the replacement theory, but their political positions are certainly influenced by it. They are afraid of everyone and everything that looks different from themselves.
They are advancing increasingly fascist, politically manipulative strategies because they know in a purely fair and free election where each vote counted they would never win a national election again.
At a factual, objective level you see this everywhere in the actions and rhetoric of their politicians, and outright support of a literal criminal enterprise run by their cult of personality leader Trump.
They are morally and ideologically bankrupt. Anti science, anti equality, anti gay, pro-religious advocacy positions across the entire spectrum.
Their economic positions make no sense and generally run contrary to modern mainstream economic theory on the creation of wealth. They are anti-immigration despite the FACT that immigration on net brings economic benefit to societies.
This is supported by an abundance of factual evidence, eye witness statements, court documents and records, and hard, objective peer reviewed scientific research that runs directly contrary to the Republican position.
They are so focused on this "anti woke" bullshit as a diversionary tactic to influence rubes like this content creator. Like, how is someone crapping on the street sufficient evidence to switch parties? It's irrational. As if zero thought is given to the actual resource constraints on public officials and law enforcement in maintaining a heavy urbanized city.
People like the content creator are so heavily influenced by far left extremists on twitter and depictions in right wing media, with apparently no understanding of the actual platform the political party stands for. Everything this person is talking about is noise compared to the actual policies and laws the Right advocates.
Look at the Roe decision alone and the resulting impact of 13 year old girls being forced to give birth, and women's lives being put in direct danger because of restrictions placed on doctors to prevent life saving procedures. This is either an example of stupidity and short sighted thinking, or pure malice. Like the dog who caught up to the car who didn't know what to do with it.
Anyone who looks at these cases and thinks they are good outcomes is an immoral human being who lacks empathy. But these cases are a direct, intentional consequence of anti-abortion laws the Right has advocated for decades, they are not mistakes.
And don't even get me started on foreign policy. They are more supportive of enemies of the United States (Russia) than the current administration. They advocate for the destruction of key international alliances formed over decades if it means it will hurt liberals. They fantasize and look up to political strongmen, fascists, and tyrants. GOP leadership visited Moscow on the 4th of July, ffs.
If you want to say I'm influenced by the liberal media or whatever, no, full, unedited videos, court documents, eye witness testimony, expert opinions and analysis, and scientific research (both "hard" and "soft" science) is available to support all of this.

Georgia, Let me just say up front that I'm a 71 year old black guy from Chicago. I just finished watching your video and I must commend you, you did an excellent job of articulating your "rebirth." I recall in high school asking my teacher what political party I belonged to and she said if I didn't know, that meant I was a democrat. When I turned 18, I registered as a democrat and started watching the debates. During this time, I noticed that the republican candidate fell more in line with what I believed. Strong family unit, following a moral compass and keeping the government off our backs so we could prosper on our own. I crossed party lines and voted for the republican and changed my party preference as soon as I was able to. I'm Hispanic and I have never missed a vote. I'm presently 62.

I am a high school math teacher in California. I have seen many of the things you described. I have been to so many training that try to tell me I am racist and sexist because I am a white male. I am dismayed that the new math frameworks are trying to teach inclusion in math. There is nothing excusive about math and science; everybody can learn math and science. If a student wants to learn, I will help them learn. The race of a student is mute. If I speak out against this nonsense, I will get responses such as "well, you are a white male."

I have also seen the local liberal media tell a very misleading version of an incident at the school. It led to 100's of people commenting on our "racist administrator". They even attacked him because of his religion. This pressure against conservative values makes it harder and harder to stay in my job. I cant's wait to leave.
I am also sad that there is no longer enforcement against theft. I have watched people leave stores without paying and nothing happens at all. There need to be consequences.

It's an age old ploy. You create and maintain the social injustice, and then you utilize never ending propaganda aimed at casting blame on the opposition, and framing yourselves as the solution. Except that the "solution" has always been the source of the disease. The Democratic Party for decades has depended on the perception of racism and victimhood to ensure unquestioning votes from the minority portion of voters. ("if you don't vote for me, you ain't black"). They absolutely know that they need a large majority of African Americans to see themselves as "victims" of the white establishment and that only the Dems will be their voice of sympathy. So, they not only spend most of their time playing the race card for just about everything, they continue to grow and maintain policies that perpetuate a sense of "victimhood" to make sure African Americans have plenty of reasons to grab onto victimhood, play the race card, and continue to vote for the ones who will hold their hands consoling them for their victimhood. This is not rocket science. The Dems fully get it that if they lose even 25% of the black vote to the Republicans, they are probably finished. Thus, they NEED back voters to continue to see themselves as "victims". It is a frightening thing for them to even consider that a majority of African Americans might begin to see that this "victimhood" thing is not paying dividends. That all it is, is an age old sinister trick. Do you really think that Al Sharpton and friends wants to see an end to this perception of victimhood?? What would he do then? He needs it, he feeds from it, he actually loves it. We saw the exact same thing with the PLO and Yasser Arafat. Jimmy Carter offered him the moon to achieve a real peace agreement with Israel, and he turned it down, because it would have been the end of his reign, the end of the spot light. Hispanic Americans are beginning to wake up, and so are African Americans, and that is shaking the Dems to the core and is why they are doubling down on the "Trump is a racist" over and over, even thought there is no evidence to support that. If one actually desires to see real historical evidence of a racist past, one need look no further than the last 45 years of Joe Bidens career. Of course the Dems will never point that out because genuine racism is not the issue. Power is. If the real racism doesn't serve their need to support their power grab, you will not hear about it. So, if its not there in the place they need it, they will create it or do everything they can you make you believe it is there. This is actually the most sinister form of real racism.I have never been more convinced that the Democratic Party is NOT a friend of African Americans.
I actually watched the whole thing. You must be a good story teller! I took the other route. When I was converted to the dreaded Christianity and started reading the Bible, it made me conservative I guess.
Both paths lead to the same conclusion: There's a straight and narrow path we all most walk.. metaphorically and literally. I’m black and an independent. I was a teacher and I figured it out early on. I left the school system because I hated what we were doing to the kids academically and the agenda. I always treated my students with respect and dignity regardless of their gender or orientation. When I see them in the street, they hug and thank me.

This so resonates with me; especially on the critical race theory stuff and education! I teach music in an elementary school in MN. When the riots and destruction in Minneapolis happened, I said, “Oh, my God! This is exactly what I had been seeing in the school! Kids disrespecting authority, attacking other kids, and destroying the classroom with little to know consequences! I have pretty good classroom management, but my classroom would quickly devolve into complete chaos because no one in authority would come to back me up. We couldn’t discipline the kids because “they couldn’t help it” due to trauma. Meanwhile, they never get better and everyone suffers! Thank you for sharing your story!

Being raised Liberal, it is a struggle to see and know the truth.
My Grandfather immigrated to the USA in 1905 from Sweden.
Per US Census records, I saw that in 1910 and 1920 he was a registered socialist.
In 1930 and 1940, he was a registered Democrat.
In 1950, 1960, 1970, he was a registered Republican.
So, I saw his growth and change in the US Census records.
....I was raised as a conservative because of my Grandfather's life's lessons passed down to me.
