That's a lot of radio and a lot of battery to be taking on a hike! With a smaller radio you'd have more room for food and a waterproof jacket etc. The internal pouches are really cool. It certainly is a unique bag, probably really suited to taking on a plane as a carry on. Thanks for sharing and for the discount codes! Cheers, Fraser MM0EFI
You're absolutely right Fraser, and this is not for the longer hikes. I have both a 37 liter and an 80 liter hiking backpack for those hikes. This is more for the POTAs that require a little bit of walking, which is about 90% of my portable activations.
The bag looks a lot like the gigaparts explorer I have. I bought it on sale 50% off so it wasn't a bad deal for me. This one looks like a good buy! Thanks for the video Mort! 73
@@KS0JD It is very similar as I could see on Ham Radio Dude’s comparison video. This bag goes for somewhere around $20-30 wholesale from China if you buy 200 or more, so I have a pretty good idea where the Gigaparts bag comes from.
Depending on what kind of snack you need there is room in the main compartment. There are also two pouches on the outside for water bottles. But I see your point, and for a demanding SOTA I would probably choose a larger hiking backpack.
Hi, I wonder what backpack radio and speaker are featured in the UA-cam teaser image…that is not discussed in the video? Thanks for posting video. Looking for a more powerful battery like you showed. KB2JDB
The thumbnail image is just for illustration purposes. As with the battery, it's hard to make any recommendations as batteries are hard to ship internationally. You should check with an American ham for recommendations.
I always struggle to hear how you say your call. What do you say at the end? Fox Italy? Is it worth saying "Foxtrot India"? I know *you* know what your call is, but I'd struggle to hear it over the air I think. I've heard your SSB QSOs and people don't always get your call straight away. I wonder if that's why? Just a thought! Joe SWL
This comes up from time to time, and you present some interesting points. It is however a phonetic and a linguistic challenge since, believe it or not, English is not my first language. I play around with both Italy and India if needed. I am wondering what this has to do with a backpack video though.
I would rather think that Gigaparts bought this in bulk from a Chinese manufacturer. That is not uncommon these days. I can also recommend my good friend Ham Radio Dude's video where he compares both of the bags. This is a relatively common design for an EMS backpack.
Do you mean that it smelled like being stuck in a plastic bag since it was produced? Letting it air out tends to solve that problem. I have ordered tons of stuff from China, and although there has been some issues along the way, smell has never been among those issues? The Hamshack Hotline phone that I bought used from Italy was a completely different story though, that smelled like men's perfume, two packs of Marlboro Lights and motor oil.
@@LB0FI was a kind of chemicals smell. I try to get rid of it by having the backpack vented for some day's. Also put it to the washing machine, Snell was still noticeable. Lucky returning it was quite easy with AliExpress. Got my full money back.

@@LB0FI I ordered one 😀
You're not the only one as far as I can see in my AliExpress affiliate portal 😂
Oh! I like this! Thanks Morten! 💐
You're welcome!

Nice bag.
Thanks John!
Thanks for testing some of these items out for us. I'm curious how the bag holds up.
It's very well made. My bet is that the zippers go first.
😮You must keep an extra care for the battery terminals. Must need some additional insulation. 🔥 🔥. Or keep the battery upside down in the bag.
No worries, the terminals are sealed.
Nice backpack, but doesn't leave anywhere for a drink, snack, or anything else you might need whilst walking to your activation location.

That bag looks familiar...
What are you thinking about? If it's the Gigaparts bag, my good friend Ham Radio Dude has made a comparison over at his channel on that.

so they ripped off the gigaparts explorer bag

Liked and shared on Facebook. Tnx for the Video, Morten. 73 de Your Friend Uncle Günter 💯👍🙋♂
Thanks Günter!
I had ordered the same bag but send it back because it was smelling like Chinese hell
