I think shipping depends on where you are, but I also payed quite a bit in shipping and taxes. AliExpress covered the antenna, and I payed shipping and taxes. It did however arrive here in two days.
That would probably help, but it would help with an issue I don't have at the moment. I do have a modification for this on my bench, and there will eventually be a video of this.
I'm a big fan of 1/4 wave antenna's, they work really well. The quality of the coil and feedpoint looked impressive and I really like the ribbon cable for radials idea. I cannot see the value in one though, as they are $88AUD for the antenna and they're asking another $68AUD to post it to me. It's not worth $156 to me, as the only parts I don't already have is the feed and coil. It's a nice antenna though, it would be interesting to use for SOTA aswell. You could make another riser for it easily, and you could even make it longer to get some further length on the 40m band. 1m of aluminium tubing and some bolts is all you need, make up 2, you could put one above and one below the coil and you gain another 1m of antenna length. It's worth a try.
That's a great idea. And depending on where you are in the world this can be expensive. But it is a great piece of kit. There are also other feedpoints and coils with an M10 mount out there. If you want a 3/8-24 mount there are even more options.
@@LB0FI Yep, I know that. I'm quite happy with my Mad Dog 80 and a 5m stainless. It covers 80-10, not a 100% efficient antenna, it works which is all you really need.
$38 shipping is well over 1/2 the price of the antenna!! Thanks for video!

I bought one of these and used it in a couple of WWFF/POTA activations, works pretty well for me too.
It's a nice little kit for portable, and very quick to deploy.
Thanks Morten! We had a p2p qso on 40 as well that morning (PD4EV). I'll look into that antenna for sure!
Awesome, I’ll see if I have a clip of our QSO in the raw footage and send it to you. Thanks for the QSO!
thank you
You’re welcome!
Perhaps spreading the radials more by splitting those wires into individual strands will benefit the performance

@@bitemykrank1970 The Mad Dog coil is absolutely on my radar.
@@LB0FI Well worth it it they are affordable over there, Marty makes a great coil.
Its a shame they didn't make a quality extension rod to match the rest of the antenna.😐🍺👍
Absolutely. It’s by all means good enough, but not up to par with the rest.
Affiliate link isn't working for me.
I just tested it here, and it works fine with an anonymous browser window. Try this and see if it works: s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DmJjvDV
Must have been my browser’s privacy settings. Both links work on my phone.
Which store can you buy this from again? 🤔
@@LB4FH the video might be sponsored, but so was the last one.
@@LB0FI Build quality looks good though
Build and machining quality is very good for all parts except for the extension rod.
