It's 2023, and I am so amazed to see this, trust me. I always that 3d is so tough to learn, but my perspective just changed today. It's so interesting. This tutorial was 8 years old, but to me, it's just 1 day old. Thanks for making such a good plugin for after effects. It's never late to learn something new
I gave a like to the this video and I sub, love the channel, but as a Brazilian living in Brazil, may I should say the "real" ( Brazilian money) is worth five times less than the dollar, so for me, the plugin is very very, veeeryy expensive, I mean I can't buy, maybe if I save money for 1 year or more, so "affordable not for everybody, maybe for people living in first world countries its affordable.
you are awesome sir. I've just taken my first semester in after effects and am loving all you teach here as well as your attitude. Got me smilin and hungry for more
One way to deal with the holes in the extruded text created because of two letters overlapping is to type the text in Illustrator, then vectorize it and then use the "Shape Builder" tool. Then you copy the shape on a solid layer in After Effects. No more overlapping issue.
Scary powerful tool and another great tutorial Andrew! I'm always making notes about which fonts you use so thanks for calling that one out early in the video!
What can help is to rotate the environment map till you get a nice reflection. And of course color correction can be used on top as well on the layer. :)
Yes, its not a dumb question, After you applying element 3D and look for the effect controls, In there go to Element > Render Settings > Physical Environment > Rotate Environment There will be the x,y and z axises, with them you can rotate the full environment in Element 3D.
Dont understand why it does not work in the first steps for me. As soon as I adjust the color diffuse to black and the reflectivity to 100%, I get completely black letters and not a chrome effect ! Someone has a solution? Or a forum which I could ask the question on?
I'm facing this weird problem - whenever I turn up the reflectivity of my text, it (or anything else, really) goes black. Some specs of reclection are still visible, but that's pretty much all, a black reflection, if you will. If you could help, I'd be really greatfull. :)
This is so cool!!! Is it possible to do the same thing for a jpg (logo) instead of text? I wanna buy this, but I'm really curious if it can be done! Your work is so awesome i cant stop watching your vods!
Excellent tut!!! thanks. You mentioned a Project file, where is it? Also, even though I am holding shift, my environment doesn't rotate. Is there a way to do this manually from the settings in the E3D interface? What if I need to see details that are in the darkness? can I create light and place them in the E3D interface?
Probably a bad idea. He generally uses 3ds max but if he would start using c4d the people that watch this purely for AE would leave. Definitely counter-productive.
Please HELP!! After I finish working in scene setup screen and click ok I cant any preview? What could be wrong with my element 3d layer? I click on scene setup and i can see my content there but coming out of scene setup the content is not visible?
I want to add a "decal" to the door of a 3D car model. I wish it was as easy as you show in one of your videos, but this model does not have the "exploded view" texture of the entire vehicle. If it did, it would be easy to add the art to the door. This model just uses a square "swatch" applied over the whole vehicle (I hope you understand what I mean). In this instance, how do I add an image to the door. I want it to look like a business logo on the vehicle door. Any help is appreciated!
Without a UV layout, it is highly unlikely to work, unless you add a dot adn slowly r-render it each time you move it, to orient and locate where it will land on the model.
First these guys come up with awesomeness called Element 3D and I'm like ''I have to get this..'' then I notice that my graphics card isn't up to date and impossible to change cuz I got a laptop. Now they got a second version and I want it even more! Guess I'll have to buy a new computer that can run anything and everything..

You can show us your keyboard pressing that which key you pressed, it will be easier to understanding your tutorial....please, apply this from next video
this seems great, but I can't get past the start of the chrome text tutorial. I set the diffuse colour to black and reflectivity to 100% just as he did, but did not get a shiny chrome-like finish like he did. 😭
@@jorge28033 Are you working a PC? I had first tried doing this tutorial on my PC at work and it didn't work. But when I went home and tried it on my macbook, it worked!
Hey Andrew Kramer, I have a Little issue with Depht of Field inside of Element 3D. After Effects just crahes when I activate it. I have a really beastful Workingstation with a 2080 Ti and 32 Core CPU. Do you know, what is going on?
in your element 3D layer press AA and you should be able to see accept lights turn that off. still cant find it let me know And I Will Send you A Few Screen Shots of how to do it

I LOVE ELEMENT 3D :) It takes AE to a whole new level! Thanks Andrew!
That noise pattern tip, it's so simple than I can't believe...Thanks Andrew for this very nice High-end level Tuts.
I can't even begin to understand how anyone could give a thumbs down to this video. This plugin is outstanding and VERY affordable.
I can't understand how anyone could give it a thumbs down either, but what is affordable is a pretty relative thing.

How did you make the lettering shine on the edges? 0:19
What kind of light are you using on top of the scene at 0:16?

Same here!!
A possibly dumb question : At 11:33 Is there a way to animate the rotation of the background like that ? Thnx.
Yes,
its not a dumb question,
After you applying element 3D and look for the effect controls,
In there go to Element > Render Settings > Physical Environment > Rotate Environment
There will be the x,y and z axises, with them you can rotate the full environment in Element 3D.
That was the amazing logo.
Is there any way to animate individual letters? Like if you have the Word "Awesome", is there a way to just animate the "A"?
Dont understand why it does not work in the first steps for me.
As soon as I adjust the color diffuse to black and the reflectivity to 100%, I get completely black letters and not a chrome effect !
Someone has a solution? Or a forum which I could ask the question on?
Use a more detailed environment map.
Thnks Men, it's a coolest thing following your videos

Youre so awesome man ty for these 🙏
Stunning
You Rock man ! Thankz !
15:15 I want to do that with a png image and it's impossible, it doesn't appear like you do with your font. :(
You might expand your market share by using C4D for these tutorials. It's pretty much the standard alongside AE.
Probably a bad idea. He generally uses 3ds max but if he would start using c4d the people that watch this purely for AE would leave. Definitely counter-productive.
C4D is designed to work in tandem with AE. I reckon there are more positives than negatives to the idea.
That's generally the workflow I've seen in the field. In my professional opinion.
Hello sir i'm from india pls guide me how to start learning from your all videos and softwares
Hello Andrew...... How do you made the circle layer........ is this a custom shape..... or just a solid..... i am totally confused......

... or you can build one, which would save money, and add tons of customizability.

no...maybe is a "light problem", but i follow the tutorial, step by step...don't know..
if it is a 3d layer text you need to go to materials in the element 3d layer you created and turn off accept lights hope that helped
in your element 3D layer press AA and you should be able to see accept lights turn that off. still cant find it let me know And I Will Send you A Few Screen Shots of how to do it

Wow .. amazing ♥
Andrew, Y U NO 1080p?
Nothing gets reflected when I do this. I follow along exactly but nothing happens when I click mirror surface. Human error or computer flaws?
Ha! Two years later. I guess I won't try this again then...
andrew the legend
What software you are doing ??? what is it software?
i cant make my text look chrome, i follow the exact steps but it ends up black and shiny
For those who's text is turning out way too dark, you might need to simply update your version of E3D. That actually worked for me.
why in ae 2015.3 element 3d texture model grid bg are black ? just in cs6 can use element 3d v2.2
nice that video is good
