Its very similar to the one in AE CS6 you hit track features, it will track a bunch of points. You hit solve camera and then once it has solved you right click on one of the points and you can create a null tracked to the point you chose
Hi Andrew, I can't to align the null object as you say, probabily the null are about 3 miles out my computer and I can't find it. Other question is: why the solid is perfect stable while 3D element move herself like a demon?
I prefer Maya over both of these programs. I would recommend 3ds Max over c4d tho. there are so many more tutorials and assets for 3ds max and maya than c4d which help you get started
I have a Problem. Everything is perfectly tracked. The Solid and the null-objects are not moving and they all stay perfectly where they should, but when I start with element 3d it is mooving in z-position all the time. I Have no idea how to fix it. It worked perfectly with other footage but with my new one it won't work. Does anyone has an idea what the reason for this could be?
Kamehameha Nudel try dropping down the "group utilities" menu in your object group. drop down "create null group", and click the create button. then copy the info from each null to the corresponding group null and it should hold its position. after that, just adjust the object to the proper placement. i know i'm late, but i just found it out like 10 minutes before i typed this.
uhhh...i don't remember everything, it's been a while since i messed with this project. if i'm not mistaken, you can copy the keyframes from your null (in the timeline), then paste them onto the group null, which you'll find the menu for in the E3D effect control window. you have to scroll down some to find it. i can't remember where i found the solution, but i'll try to help out a little more when i get out of class later tonight.
If u are a student u can get 3ds max for free i think. Btw Cinema 4d is for motion grafik. But also good for other things. I tested both Programms and Cinema 4d is more simple for my uses.
motion tracking doesn't work for every type of clip, by the way make sure that what your tracking is really easy to find the X,Y,Z. cause if its a really bad clip that doesn't look very real, the 3D camera tracker will not be able to give you the results that you want.

well thanks i know maya is much better as i am a user of it too but the modifiers and the ease of use in 3ds max is what attracts me to it and i hate cinema 4d because its user interface is very bad but if u know it u cud make some good motion graphics in it. btw thx for giving me the information

well 4d is more for logos and video games at least in my opinion. 3ds max is a little more realistic but maya is the most. it's what the hollywood vfx guys use but its sort of cluttered. the bottom line is do whatever is easiest for you to understand and you can do great things with all of them
My god, ALL that just to make a 3D object in Element cast realitic shadows!? I'm sure you're doing it as I speak, ....but can you guys please make sure the next version does that automatically ;) Other than that....seamless as always

PLEASE. After i add my Ambient light, when i add Parallels or something it doesn't get effected at all, literally nothing to get some nice shading. PLEASE someone give me an idea....
Can u make a tutorial of making complex 3d OBJECT with after effect using Layers and Masks ( like 3d logos ... ) and add cool colors to it ( Morphing .. )
Hey Andrew I recently bought element and am getting my very frustrated because I can not get anything to render everything I try whenever I press ok it shows nothing,just a black screen I am kind of sad because I spent a lot of money on element and it doesn't function correctly for me

I can't for the life of me get my Elememt 3D objects to sit on the ground plane. I followed step by step by when I use my own footage there is always a little bit of "float" to the objects. When I apply a simple null and text layer to my target, everything is fine and the track is spot on so I know its not the track. Anybody have some insight?

It took me two days to assimilate all this, but in just this video, I learned enough to create realistic 3-D stuff with no prior knowledge. Amazing!

try going through you track and delete any points that might be throwing the track....also creating the null objects might help...
