Follow Living Zoology during their travel and work! This is the first episode of a new series from Costa Rica. Our trip started with a disaster - we crashed our rented car! Luckily nobody was badly injured. Since this accident we were already successful. During our first night of herping we found several cool snake species, including venomous Terciopelo or Fer-de-lance (Bothrops asper) and Central American Jumping pit viper (Metlapilcoatlus mexicanus). You will see how we work with snakes and how we film them and take photos. Enjoy this episode and don't miss the next one - we will work with a bushmaster!
Like always a superb Video. I was in Costa Rica also, but unfortunately I couldn't find any snake....
Sorry to hear that! It is a great country to look for snakes! Thanks for watching!
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks!
so thats how you get those amazingly beautiful films done ❤ im sorry you had the car accident but everyones
was ok
Yes, this is how we work! Thank you for watching! We were super happy that nobody was hurt after the accident.
Thank you for the amazing video!
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching!
So many beautiful snakes~👍
Thank you for sharing this video~🤗
Thanks for visiting!!! Great that you like the first episode of the new series!
I've had a few vehicle mishaps in my life, mostly with deer. Isn't it something how life can take such a quick turn. Much like in your business.........always watch where you step. Life can change quickly.
Yes, things can change in a split second, it is a bit scary! But we can only continue what we do and hope for the best.

By the way, 前川次郎 is named after a persimmon. Greetings from Tokyo, Japan.
Interesting! Thank you for watching and greetings to Tokyo!
@@LivingZoology Your videos are always interesting! Furthermore I have never known that a Bushmaster produces that characteristic rattling sound. As you know, Japanese pit vipers (Mamushis & Habus) never do so.
You Folks are the best 👌
Thank you very much!
great video lz only way i will get to see alot of these snakes in true life thanks so much!!
Glad you enjoyed! Thank you!
Such a drag about that car mishap but looks like you two recovered to have a productive adventure. I really enjoyed the "behind the scenes" format. Awesome work as usual. You guys are the best in the biz. Hope you keep at it for a long time.
Thank you! It is great that you enjoy watching the behind the scenes format. We luckily had a successful trip after the accident.

Love this kind of video where you show how you travel and look for snake / take pictures. Jumping from GoPro quality to final photo is pretty cool 👌 I am waiting for another video.
Awesome, thank you! We are happy to hear that this kind of videos is interesting for you!
Awesome video, LZ! Thanks to you and all your crew for making this video happen!
Thank you so much, Terry! We are happy that you like this video!
@@LivingZoology There has not been any of your videos that I do not like! Keep up the great work! I know it can be difficult at times, particular in the times that this world is currently in. I am a fan!
Thanks a lot.
Most welcome!
Beautifull! Congratulations!
Thank you! Cheers!
Fantastic. .... thank you for uploading. Looking forward to next video. Regards from Ireland

Great video sorry about the car crash and your right accidents mess with your head, glad you were not hurt. My favourite snake was the jumping viper, I love their big Buffy head on the jumping viper.
Exactly, those situations really mess with your head, but we managed to continue. We agree, Central American jumping pit vipers are very special and cool!
Thank you for the videos!
Can you tell me what will happen if a king cobra and a terciopelo are going to fight each other? Who will win? Will the king cobra win because its main diet is other snakes? What if the terciopelo bites and injects venom into the king cobra first? Is the king cobra immune to the venom of other snakes? If the king cobra is going to fight against any other venomous snake, will the king cobra always win?
There won't be much fighting, a big King cobra will hunt and kill the Terciopelo. Kings are intelligent and when they attack a venomous snake they bite it behind the head so they cannot be bitten. Venom of other species has some effect on the King, it probably won't die but it has some effect. Watch our video of a King hunting: ua-cam.com/video/-GW7V7CbwRs/v-deo.html
That sucks about the car but you guys prevailed with positive attitudes. I had a similar time at night in Nicaragua with pouring rain and HUGE potholes. The roads there are not so good but nothing is as bad as the topes in Mexico! Suerte amigos
Thanks! We tried hard to continue with our trip! :) Stay safe!
I wouldn't wanna visit someplace where it is wet and humid all the time. That would really suck. Y'all really deal with some difficult situations to make these videos. I really hope y'all stay safe and be careful.
Yes, we usually work in some difficult conditions! Thank you! We try to stay safe and be careful. Stay safe too!
"venomous Terciopelo"? Is there such a thing as a non-venomous Terciopelo?
Some viewers might not know if Terciopelo is venomous, so we try to mention this information often.
BUEN VIDEO GRACIAS A QUE EN COSTA RICA PRESERVAMOS LA NATURALEZA.
Muchas gracias!
Love your videos, greetings from Denmark
Great that you like them! Please consider joining our channel as a member to support us in doing this work! The basic UA-cam revenue is not enough for covering the costs of filming trips.
Beautifully filmed such amazing snakes. The Eyelash Pit Viper was beautiful as was the Jumping Pit Viper. Many thanks again. Is the Fer De Lance and Terciepolo the same species?
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you!!! Yes, the same but nowadays only Terciopelo should be used. Fer-de-lance is a name used for several species of Bothrops in Latin America and it makes things confusing. It was originally used for Martinique lancehead.
Great content guys!! Costa Rica has gotta be just an incredible experience!! Would have liked to seen some of the photos taken the next day on the snakes you bagged & actually watching the photography session on video would be cool too!! But, it was still a awsome video!! Can't wait for the next one!!
Thanks! Yes, Costa Rica is awesome! Just don't have a car accident! :D We don't manage to film everything as we have to film the main footage for our big narrated documentaries and also also some behind the scenes, record sounds, etc. So some things just happen off screen, but we try to film as much as possible :)
I'm sorry about the car! I'm glad you didn't let it ruin your trip. This is such a beautiful video!
Thank you so much! Yes, we luckily managed to continue with our trip!
Nice Video ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤
You are so kind, thank you!
Why show the airport and travel parts? 7min in and it’s just you guys in a airport. Bad editing
It is difficult to make everyone happy. Our behind the scenes videos are following our journeys and we want to show what we need to do to find snakes and get the footage we need. Many times people don't understand what it takes to do our work. We will post one long episode containing only the best snake /animal encounters from each series for those, who are only interested in our interactions with animals.
I think is just fine. It is titled 'Behind the scenes '. Good job!
@@jabajohn9263 Thank you so much! :)
@@jabajohn9263 yeah who doesn’t wanna watch ppl in an airport….
@@LivingZoology careful not to let ppl blow smoke up your ass
And you let the same person drive again!!!!
Local guys could not drive as the car was rented on our name and it was the best to let Matej get over his trauma immediately.
