I lived in the property of a Surinam black guy in Amsterdam in late 90s; one day he kicked me out and handed me back my deposit saying my great-gran-pa sold his great-gran-pa into slavery - Africa owe them share of African resources and we must pay in a way of Social welfare, education and intercultural activities
Thanks for spreading the knowledge! I’m in the U.S. but those are my people! Basically, the British and the USA had a few industries in Costa Rica in the late 1890’s - 1930’s. So a lot of black people from Jamaica immigrated to Costa Rica to work on the railroad project or work for the United Fruit Company. The story goes that Jamaicans (black people) are more resistant to malaria, so they were recruited to come live and work in Costa Rica. And maybe an added bonus that they spoke English (Jamaican accent of course). I believe the majority of black people in Costa Rica are from that migration. Similar thing happened in Panama to build the canal. Although in Panama, it’s not just Jamaicans. Trinidad and Barbados folks were also recruited. Keep up the great work!
Correct! Also Panama has the blacks that came before the blacks from the Caribbean "slavery times" and located all over the country but one of the highest concentration is located in the province of Darien..
As an Afro-Jamaican I appreciate that you share this aspect in your content, and I am also happy to see Afro-latinos getting the love and recognition they deserve because some are not as well known about like Afro-Mexicans for example.

Job very well done.

The cell phone and cordless phone was created by a wonderful black man named Dr. Raymond Phillips from Texas. His cordless phone patent was stolen. It took him 20 years of lawsuits to get his patent back. When he did a patent for the cell phone, he got the patent but not the credit for it. An important thing to note is that a lot of dark skinned Filipinos and Oceanians aren't actually ethnically African, but are dark skinned Pacific Island populations that adapted to the climate. But there were slaves brought to the Phillipines.

What an interesting comment, ill like to research more but yea it sounds very logical we were once very close together just take a look at the shape of each continent perhaps something happened that separated us. I have a humble theory that we were once one ethnicity but the thousands of years later we became different because our bodies adapted to our environments.
I stumbled on your channel and was glued to it. Proud to be black and African. All blacks all over the world have their root in Africa and can rightly claim Africa, they should feel free to choose from any of her countries. I recently visited the bridge of "No Return" situated in Ikot Abasi in Akwa Ibom State of south Nigeria from where my ancestors were stolen and transported to all other part of the world. Great Job Marwa
Hi Marwa, Thanks for the good work. The theme you are doing now of black communities spread across the globe during slavery times is great, and it is important for all blacks to know. Please also go to Turkey, Iran, Basra in Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and even India. Trust me this will propel you subsription to more than 500k. This is serious topic. Nyasaye otelni.

The information that is being shared about our Afro roots are informative and intriguing. I recently subscribed to your channel Marwa and i have thoroughly enjoyed the context. Thank you !
Marwa! I'm very surprised that it would appear that most of our brothers and sisters from the continent don't know about us. I'm born and grew up in the Caribbean and know of my African roots. we ware African clothes and eat African food, fofo etc. we will never disappear from nowhere. we are the first people and we are getting back to that to be the first people. What goes around comes around. growing up, we were thoughts about all the struggles about our in Africa. May I suggest that you and must people on the continent listen to Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Burning Spare and other music to see how much we interlock with Africa! We are living in a great time. Africans in the diaspora and the continent need to marry each other to reconnect our people as it was in the beginning. As a child, I could tell you all the presidents in Africa. I remember teachers, police officers being sent to Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia to assist those governments to set up their infrastructure etc. Marwa, you need to find yourself, my brother by knowing where you come from and your purpose in this world.
Unfortunately the educational system does not emphasize this. I was shocked when another Kenyan youtuber went to Malawi which is to the south of Africa and the people she interviewed had no idea about Kenya, that is a country that is separated by only one other country Tanzania. When I was growing up we new the African geography and history.
Most of us know about you my brother. Intact there are some of us trying to build bridge's and find our lost children. I really wish that all Kings in African countries should adopt our children who where taken away and give them land to do whatever they want with.
I visited Costa Rica 2 years ago. I travelled around the country and it was WOW! I also went Limon, it was very quiet and saw few black people. There is a slave museum in Costa Rica, with good history of how thexslaves integrayed. Also, msny costa Ricans recognised their Jamaican background.

Amazing video Marwa
Some of us know about our people around the world
Unfortunately the educational system does not emphasize this. I was shocked when another Kenyan youtuber went to Malawi which is to the south of Africa and the people she interviewed had no idea about Kenya, that is a country that is separated by only one other country Tanzania. When I was growing up we new the African geography and history.
Most of Africa was colonized it depends on how educated you are or want to be.
Most of us know about you my brother. Intact there are some of us trying to build bridge's and find our lost children. I really wish that all Kings in African countries should adopt our children who where taken away and give them land to do whatever they want with.
The Elder People in the shop were cool as hell, dropped crazy knowledge, and English was amazing. ☮️, ❤️, and Happiness
Learn something everyday..I didn't know Marcus Garvey lived in Lemon Costa Rica for a while.
I'm from the US and I really enjoyed this video I love seeing my people across the diaspora.❤❤❤
