- Hey guys! This video has been VERY requested so I finally sat down and recorded it! Although I obviously can’t tell you what to do for your essays, I can tell you what worked for me. I really hope this helps someone out there with their supplementals; feel free to DM me on Instagram if you have any questions!
Also, I’m honestly not sure whether the extracurricular essay is required this year. Some students are saying it is, and others are saying it isn’t. I don’t have a common app account so I have no way of knowing. Let me know in the comments!

So, I didn’t like how my video was mirrored (it ruined my good side) and I decided to fix it in my photos app. WELL, apparently my video editing software uses the original video (and not the un-mirrored one) so I literally had to screen record all of my videos from the photos app and THEN edit it. So sorry about the lower quality! I just had to make sure my good side was showing HAHAHAH

Cecile...With the open curriculum essay, I took your idea of history playing a role in everything, but I used more examples and my own experiences. Idk what to make of it. U think that would...work. It was a mere inspiration and for that, I say thank you. Tbh I really hate this situation we are placed in. :/ You just won a subscription

Extracurricular essay is still required for Brown this year. It’s in activities section and not writing supplement so maybe that’s what’s different

Your video quality is impeccable; this is amazing! Quick question: for the Open Curriculum essay, should you elaborate on Brown-specific opportunities (IE programs like study abroad) to show you did your research?.
Thank you! For your question, I’d say to include programs like study abroad in the essay about contributions. The open curriculum one should focus on your studies within that curriculum (ex: classes and subjects). You could still include stuff like study abroad in the open curriculum essay, but I feel like it’ll take away from your discussion of the curriculum which is the focus of the question.

I’m currently double majoring in Biology and History as a premed, but as soon as I can, I’m hoping to make my own major! This major would be a combination of Microbiology/Epidemiology. For now though, since it’s not official, I’m telling everyone bio+history.

hi! i’m a seventh grader looking at colleges and i think brown may be what i want to see in my future! do you have any tips or information on what i should start doing now in terms of academics, extra curricular‘s, helping out my community, etc.?
Since you’re superrr early on the college journey I’d say to just start volunteering for something you care about ! You could also plan what you want to do in HS to formulate “your story” ahead of time

Hey Cecile, I'm an international prospective brown student. Indians in particular rarely get into Ivy Leagues and I really really want to go to brown. I haven't done science olympiads but I am a grand master in mental arithmetic and stuff like that. Would you give me more advice that could maybe maximise my chances of getting in? Rly praying you reply, rly need first hand advice and help. :)

hi im tennis player i worked in hospital and pharmacy( as a volunteer) i join lösev( an organization that helps children with leukemia)and im in the club of young people, we do different activities every week.btw i’m international student is it enough extracurriculars to get into ivy league? what do you think also i want to be a pre med student btw you so cute!!!🥺🥺
meryem martinez If you can convey how passionate you are about your activities and have great stats and essays I think that’s good! It’s more about why you do the activities you do (and what you accomplish within them) rather than how many you do.:)
Oh my god, I’ve watched like 3 of your videos and you are already my role model. I’m a freshman and we have sooo much in common!! (I’m not THAT into insects tho 😅). I LOVE performing/acting/musical theatre, painting, and I LOVE academics like literature too! I just joined the highschool speech and debate team for humorous interp and it’s my first time! 😩 I think the butterflies in my stomach is about to fly out!! The tournament is in a few days, do you have any tips for me? One more thing! I suck at debates and improv even tho I love performing anything with a script. I would throw up at the thought because I’m afraid that people will think my arguments are stupid or that I’m not funny. However, I do love debating and improv with my friends and family... idk why I’m like that. Do you have any tips for overnight coming that? I just subbed and I’m so glad I found your content! 😁 I think I might start an art UA-cam channel myself in the future :)

Just try to embody your character as much as possible and remember that it’s fun too (so don’t get mad at yourself if you make small mistakes like I did)! Also totally agree with the whole debate thing :( At least you probably don’t have to do debate! Glad you found me too & hope you do end up making a channel-it’s super fun! 🥰

Thanks! I would have just written it slightly differently and included better transitions but I wouldve kept the same ideas! I also would have tried to make another mention that relates to my fun intro in the conclusion but uGh word count
@@cecilesch woah your response time is something else, and yea that word count :(. I kind of want to go in depth on one of my experiences, but do you think it's better to talk about multiple and have an intro/conclusion that sums everything up?
