Steven Wilson & Jordan Rudess - Lazarus

- With the reissue of @PorcupineTreeOfficial's Deadwing album in deluxe box set form just around the corner, here's a lovely impromptu version of one of the album's most popular songs Lazarus performed by myself and my buddy @JordanRudessKeys, captured by a member of the audience on their phone. Neither of us can remember where or when it was, but maybe you can or were there, let me know!
This was from Berklee in Boston, MA on March 18th, 2007. I was there for Jordan Rudess and was my first introduction into the musical world of Steven Wilson.
I've got a picture with JR after his set
Was it a Blackfield gig?
@@chrissherren1374 yep
Great 👏👏👏
I was attending at this time and super don't recollect this...I'd definitely have gone..weird. I do recall PT came through on tour twice while I was there, playing the BPC, amazing shows. Robert Fripp opened one of them. And I remember Steven doing a performance/signing at Newbury Comics.
That checks out. I saw Blackfield the day before - March 17, 2007, at Maxwell's in Hoboken, NJ. Jordan Rudess opened with a solo keyboard set. No impromptu collab, though!
This song is pure art. I adore Steven Wilson.
Dream Theater too 👍
You r into Scatology I see. Sad, sad, movie! 🤔
...so beautiful song, the lrycs are lovely poetry!, great guys, masters of masters of music !! ...nice to see them performing together!! ... I am huge fan of both of them!
This song is very special to me as it had extra meaning when I was nursing my father through dementia and cancer on his way to the next phase. His name was David. I always get a bit teary whenever I hear Lazarus. Thank you for this and big thank you to Jr for playing so beautifully, as always. And thank you Steven for writing this beautiful sad song.
Lovely. Rudess really knows how to fill the space without crowding it with his playing.
He does know how to fill the space, you are right. Unfortunately, it lacks taste and completely detracts from the nostalgic, longing feel of this song. I love Jordan in DT. Not a good match with SW.
Wilson would disagree, it seems.
Only legends know that this is already 15years old video.
Loved this duet❣️🥺
lol! I knew I had upvoted this before!
Yeah I remember this when it came out many years ago. It was right near the end of when Porcupine Tree were together. Definitely a great duet
That priceless exchange at the beginning! ❤
Jordan: Ready?
Steven: I’m ready!
Steven says "I'm ready", no?
@@Lellos_ yeah, it's the other way around but still wholesome
@@LadyGrinningSoul91 for sure!
Fixed!
"Neither of us can remember where or when it was" xD pure wilsonesque description
I have tears in my eyes! Two of my biggest idols playing a song that means so much to me... What a beautiful way to start the year!
Siiim! E do nada aparece nas recomendações do youtube, achei até que tinha visto errado
@@TheVick2010 same here!
Same here. It has a very special meaning for me from a very hard painful episode of my life.
I send love from France . Thank you Steven for all your music and your talent. 💜
A timeless gem from genius steven wilson, this song has a special effect on me❤️❤️❤️
Two of my favorite musicians! Saw and talked to Jordan Rudess at Porcupine Tree’s last tour a couple of months ago at Radio City Music Hall. I was very happy to see PT get back together. Big Porcupine Tree, Steven Wilson, and Dream Theater fan. Was not aware that Steven and Jordan played together…….glad to find this video.
Great song with that inimitabe Rudess style..
Never thought you two would perform like this on the same stage... excellent Mr. Wilson & Rudes...❤️❤️
Jordan played keyboards on a few songs from Insurgentes and Grace for Drowning, but I didn’t know they played together live too.
This is such a beautiful song it’s so full of heart and soul and so is the performance in my opinion.
Such a great rendition, and what a treat to start the new year with. Suits my mood rather nicely. Thanks for this!
So simple and soothing!! Truely one of his greatest!!
Jordan play keys in a majestic way. The song as always is a pleasure to my ears.
Gorgeous song, and stunning piano work!
Found this more than 10 years ago... Love it since then. Thank you Steven and Jordan
2 of my favorite musicians! What a fantastic duo.
Two of my favorite artists! Awesome!
What a special collaboration! Two of my favorite artists playing one of my favorite PT songs! It's a musical warm hug.
You two are just amazing 🎶
Thank you very much for sharing ♥️
Your best piece of music, Steven, I hope you know that. This song has saved me life on countless occasions, along with the rest of the PT catalog
So love this tune ❤
It is very nice isn't it.
A moment captured.....
Many thanks for posting.
This song always activates my tear ducts... Love it!
A happy surprise, thanks Steven and Jordan.
I think this was up long ago and then disappeared. Such a great performance! Thanks!
so weird to not see Jordan spinning around
The bridge takes me up and away …. just like a real bridge should. Masterful piece of music. Thank you Steven.
Wow! What a great collaboration!
fantastic sound, even taken by a phone...that means Mr Wilson and Mr. Rudess are genious indeed. Best of all from Mexico city
Beautiful!
Just one of the best ever written
As BUSY as the Keyboard lines are, @JordanRudessKeys does a beautiful job of weaving in and out of Steven Wilson's vocal lines. And Steven Wilson does a perfect job as always.
Busy indeed. Serving only himself and not the art.
Please stop that piano circus...
Enorme tema y una colaboración de diez. Influencia para nuestro vocalista David Lázaro. Una alegría ver todo este contenido subido.
How wonderful.
if there're top 3 songs which i've to name as list for my personal best this easily been as top 2. hhh srsly what steven brings never ever put me out of soothing mood. i knew it quite late for a wish but Happy new year yall. Have a good one remember to always to find a project to stay standing enjoying all good around. cheers
Listening to this poetry after a long time . ❤
Piękny utwór :)
Heavenly!! 🤗☺️🥺♥️♥️♥️
The song that introduced me to Steven , always a blast to hear it
Jordan Rudess is a legend. I believe he is holding back as much as he possibly can playing this song. Yet, to serve the music and make this song perfect, he should just play half the notes he is playing. We all know he can play and that's why he's known as "the wizard".
This Is a rendition, a different one than what we're all used to listen, and still very beautiful...
Jordan is fantastic, but Steven, your simpler piano version is priceless and timeless. It speaks volumes in it's simplicity, beauty and nuance.
Shout out to Dream Theater.
OMG, that’s precious. I hate being next to someone who’s phone bothering all the time, but, this IS precious. ❤
Best song made ever Steven Wilson
Great version!
There is some talent on that stage
My 2 favorite musicians in one place, awesome
Lucky. That would be Mikael Åkerfeldt and Kevin Moore for me, if we're talking singer / guitarist and keyboardist.
Happy New Year! 🙏🌲☀️🇵🇱❤️
Beautiful
Brilliant performance :)
Que lujo!!!!
Timeless song
Old, and gold!
Sounds great
wonderful! Thx!
Crikey. I hope these guys went on to have musical success. 😉😘
Art.
oh love both.
Wow, two of my favorite artists together. What can come out of this partnership I'm looking forward
He played the opening to Deform to Form a Star later for SW.
Super, super cool.
a very special song performed with heart, a great start for 2023 but.... when are you coming to Australia with Porcupine Tree for a nice tour? please
What a Duo
👏👏👏👏👏👏 ¡Genial!
Genius!
Wonderful!!
I see you sneaked in through the loft - good thinking
Steven Wilson's best song imo
Absolutely beautiful, Gavin would've been the cherry
Dreamy Lazarus!
Steven, will you please, please record this with Jordan in a studio or sth... have this on repeat for at least a few days already!!
Saw this show at the Aladdin in Portland Oregon
Well that was cool
Nice
As the cheerless towns pass my window
I can see a washed out moon through the fog
And then a voice inside my head
Breaks the analogue And says
"Follow me down to the valley below
You know
Moonlight is bleeding
From out of your soul"
I survived against the will
Of my twisted folk
But in the deafness of my world
The silence broke And said
Follow me down to the valley below
You know
Moonlight is bleeding
From out of your soul
Follow me down to the valley below
You know
Moonlight is bleeding
From out of your soul
My David don't you worry
This cold world is not for you
So rest your head upon me
I have strength to carry you
Ghosts of the twenties rising Golden summers just holding you
Follow me down to the valley below
You know
Moonlight is bleeding
From out of your soul
Follow me down to the valley below
You know
Moonlight is bleeding
From out of your soul
Come to us Lazarus
It's time for you to go
thank you 💖
I lost a true friend to cancer 40 plus years ago. All these years later this song seems as it was written for him. Dave was a Great Friend.
❤❤❤
🙏❤️
The vulnerability! O gosh!
❤️
💖💖
Ого! Прикольно)
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
YaY!
I am here again to watch these two prog legends !
yo bro me too
Due giganti
this is why you should allow phones at your shows
Moral mesmo é deixar o Jordan Rudess no vácuo 🤣 04:02
Sometimes less is more.
This song better be in And No Birds Sing or ima be pissed.
Fuck yeah 🌹
This is a great throwback. Did Jordan do the studio recording too?
No
It was Steven on the studio version
Jordan did play on some Steven Wilson solo songs, but not PT.
Jordan’s playing is literally as busy as the piano in the studio, it’s just overpowering here because there’s no band
Make some music together!!! 🙌🏻🙏🏻
This was Steve's Blackfield tour, can't remember when*, and Jordan was an opening act.
*should be around 2007, judging by Jordan's beard :)= more importantly, original video is 16 yrs old.
Rio Branco - Acre, Brazil
two tower
Should do a whole album with this Rudess guy. Just saying... 🤷♂️
