We painted most of the stanchions from harecastle to longport every Sunday when the power was off lol back in the 80s hard work but fun thanks for the upload 👍
New Irish subscriber here in Manchester U.K. (Living here 21 years) - I usually go home to Ireland on SailRail via Holyhead - Dublin but I just wish there were more direct trains from Manchester Victoria to Holyhead without having to change trains at Crewe or Chester, as Platform 13 at Manchester Piccadilly is a real pain, especially if coming from Shudehill or Market St on Metrolink trams, having to climb all those escalators and stairs with a heavy suitcase, getting tickets and information at the other end then having to come all the way back, then up 2 travelators and down stairs to reach Platform 13 - most of these trains, even if Chester/Crewe bound, don’t even call at Deansgate/Castlefield which means a much more convenient transfer from Metrolink which I’ve written to TfW and Avanti about - the only possible workaround seems to be Northern from Victoria to Chester and Avanti from Chester to Holyhead so that I’ll make my check-in for Irish Ferries or Stena to Dublin in good time
Nice video from my neck of the woods. Just out of interest, why did you wait when the Red turned to Yellow and then Double Yellows just before stoke? Were you too early, perhaps?
Probably didn’t check the aspect until they did in the video. I heard someone rooting through a bag for whatever reason. Probably checking the operating notice or something. Being early would’ve been sorted at the platform as dispatching would be on time with the scheduled departure.
A good video. Reasonably sharp for 1080p and well exposed for the difficult lighting in snow. Would be improved by adding station and infrastructure details on screen. Don Coffey's work is a masterclass, up there with the best in Europe.

IMHO this in itself is a masterpiece. I am very happy with just the vidio and using an OS map to track the route
29:55 Typical Desiro horns 😂
What speed is other train overtaking at 2:40 doing?
It's possible it is doing over 100 MPH.
Thanks
când a nins?🌨😃
Did this many times in the 1950s
I remember the days when from Kidsgrove to Crewe was all double track
I remember when you could go from Crewe to Skegness Via Stoke, Darby and Nottingham on one train that was an hourly service
@@stevenbowers4164 I remember when there was a steam engine pulling the train and the coaches were emblazoned 'LMS'..
@@stevenbowers4164 yep... Usually crammed into a single 153
Must have been pre 1980s as I always remember the hold ups on that single section which usually meant missing the Crewe to Holyhead connection.
Most enjoyable video. Thanks for posting it
Is that London Midland
What? That’s no way that class 350 are slower than cross country diesel train. Class 350 could reached 125mph speed when I saw the speed meter.
Class 350max speed 110mph
