The points at begiining and end of loops, are they catch or trap points ? Another great video, lots of moves we wouldn't normally see. One thing I did note is really hard to see signal aspects and feathers, maybe light
@martyn6792 They are trap points to protect the main line and yes I noticed that as well when editing, am still trying to pin point the best place to have the camera in the cab and this time it just wasn't the best place as I managed to stop the refection glaze but like you say you now cannot read the signals, trial and error just now but we will get there
@martyn6792 Not that I've seen so far so I cannot say but there probably is somewhere in Anglia the Freight drivers would probably know better than me
It seems like the Ipswich to Ely railway line is mainly used by freight traffic hence why the Ipswich to Peterborough service is one train per two hours.
You are correct yes but I need a confirmation driver over the route (Haughley Jn to Ely) to ensure I was happy and ready to sign it off that is the reason why we went that way
Except that the section of the Trowse Swing Bridge (near Norwich) and between Soham and Ely is single track. And the section between Ipswich and Ely only has a passenger service every two hours per direction.
It's a good job you reminded me about the 15mph turnout at Stowmarket, i was going to give her some beans.
Good to know that it's been helpful

@@AngliaCabRides-vv5ckabsolutely no problem, re trap points, are there also catch points, I have seen some where only one rail is switched

@annabelholland Yes i do believe it's all going to or from Felixstowe as for the passenger trains I cannot say as that's nothing to do with me
Was there a reason going via Stowmarket? If going Norwich to Ely surely the Breckland line would have been more direct?

Give us a toot when you pass the semaphores in Thurston next time 😊
Hopefully be that way again soon during the day
all that lovely double-track with no trains on it :_(

why the turn move when you could just go on the up line to Trowse?
The machine had to be turned ready for weekend work as it was facing the wrong way
Norwich to Ely takes two hours!!! you could drive it in an hour!
@JL-rx6hl This was recorded on a tamper which runs at a slower line speed then the passenger trains
