Hi Des, I watched a lot of your reviews before buying a new training watch for my girlfriend (polar vantage m). However it would be nice if each review you could give each watch a score based on your personal opinion (maybe with the most important positives and negatives). So if I'm looking for a watch for a certain budget, I can take a look at the highest scores that fit my budget, and depending on my needs decide using the positives and negatives. I really appreciate the depth you go to in these videos. However when I am watching more than a couple reviews, it's easy to get lost in the details and lose track of what is the most important.
Great video- I notice the Lamicall Stand holding Garmin instinct, Does this stand hold the Fenix line ( Fenix 5x, 7x, Tactix 7) while allowing room for a Garmin Charge cable to fee through the opening?
I'm a simple man. I see an Instinct on a stand, I press like. Great content as always. It is a bit of a long stretch, but technically Varia can connect to several watches as well. But hey, if the smart trainer qualifies... ;-D
@@DesFit To be honest, I don't think that anybody uses it with a watch instead of a cycling computer :-D Anyhow, just realized, that my Virb can also be remote controlled from my watch, sooo... :-P
Holy crap, that's hardcore if you scratched the F6 sapphire. Was it a wipeout on rocks? I have been pretty impressed with how mine has held up after hitting many doorknobs and stuff like that with no damage, but I am not a mountain biker.
Merry Christmas.. Question if u have time for one. I have a Garmin Fenix 5X Plus and I mountain bike as well. What would u recommend for me to use instead of my Garmin watch Thank you
All great accessories I think, although instead of getting a bike computer why not just attaching your Garmin watch / or any other tracking watch to the bike? That's what i do with my Fenix and it works perfectly.
Hey Des, I'm surprised, how did you manage to damage the sapphire glass on the Fénix 7? I thought it was nearly impossible to scratch, unless you come across with particles elements like the same sapphire or diamond.
@@DesFit that’s really unfortunate, I guess that could happen when you when take your devices with you and do what you love. Now we know, thanks for the video!! Great stuff!
Mine 6X sapphire has bigger scratch, it's way easier to damage the Sapphire than I think cause I never notice when these scratches came on my watch. Anyway, my IWC and Rolex also have scratches. I will never put screen protect on any of my watches, phones, Pads, etc. But just keep in mind, Sapphire can be scratched.
7:15 Is Garmin's extended display the only way in which their bike computers and smartwatches interact? My Edge 510 doesn't support it and I was wondering about if I should use it any differently now that I have a Forerunner 45 as well.
Does hr-run pro collect cadence, oscillation, ground contact time, ground contact balance, stride length, and vertical ratio on Vivoactive 4 /venu watches? Or you need tou use forerunner/fenix series to collect this data?
You can go for pretty much any of them but just note that the Apple Watch doesn’t collect anything more than heart rate, so you wouldn’t be able to utilize the more advanced features out of something like the HRM Pro. Thanks!
What about something that can track you playing field sports such as soccer or football. Similar to the Chest strap that can store data to be synced later?
Same question. Thanks for asking it and thanks for answers. I have Polar HR10 and would like this price watch to view hr. Had massive ha in April, want to get back cycling, running, swimming by April 2021
if you have a 200 dollars and you want to buy a watch for tracking your activities(GPS for the route, Heart Rate, Cadence sensor compatibility, and upload it to strava after the activity, what reliable smart watch would you recommend with the budget? Main activity would be cycling, (80% Road cycling and 20% trails). Thanks a lot.
For Garmin watch users (or other Ant+ compatible watches) the Garmin Tempe is nice, and reasonably priced accessory. It measures the temperature of wherever you fasten it. Here's a setup that I find fun. Garmin Fenix 6x strapped to the Garmin watch handle bar attachment of my bike, Jabra Elite Sport headphones measuring my heart rate (HR is paired to the phone through smart Bluetooth, headphone audio is paired to my phone but can pair to the watch too) and Tempe is paired to the watch measuring the temperature (although the Fenix watch can measure the true temperature if its not on your wrist). I find it handy to use my watch as a cycle computer this way. I could add a cadence sensor too but at the moment and with my level of cycling I'm not too bothered right now, maybe in the future.
If you have an H7 sensor and thinking about upgrading to H10, save your money and get a Polar Pro belt for your H7. The accuracy will be the same between the 2. You’re welcome.
How is an Apple Watch with a screen protector on? Cause since it’s a piece of jewelry that you wear every day I feel that it will make it kinda ugly, same goes for the case. I was using the galaxy watch active which held fine to some accidental bumps while exercising but I feel that the Apple Watch will be more fragile.
If you’re careful it won’t be much of a problem. I was scared about it but as long as you don’t usually bump into things often or do activities that might damage the apple watch it should be fine. Apple care is also an option
I’ve banged my s5 (aluminium) so much now, especially working in retail. No bumps, only micro scratches on the screen primarily from the stainless steel mesh Apple Watch band. I’ve heard people with the stainless steel casing is more prone to these scratches on the sides from the mesh band. If you have the AOD on, you nvr notice any scratches.
Andreas Panagi i’ve had my watch for a year, occasionally accidentally knock it on something but i’ve got no scratches or signs of wear. It’s just a plain nike aluminum series 4 if you’re wondering. If you don’t want to worry about it I recommend just getting apple care
Wtf are you all doing with your watches that they take on this damage? I have a garmin so maybe it is different like you say for an Apple watch, but whaaat.
I’m glad you always add link in the description!
You got it! 👍

#12: a handlebar mount to use the watch while riding a bike. Roughly 10% of the price of a bike computer :-)
Great suggestion Harry! Thanks
Awesome review, Des. Happy holidays!

Ya, it was a very hard crash. With normal dings on everyday objects the sapphire holds up great.

Will those bands also fit for farming cross over tactical
Best aftermarket watch strap is the Sport Loop.
It's pretty good.

Not sure when or how it happened. Take into account a handful of MTB crashes, some rock climbing, etc… 🤷♂️

What about something that can track you playing field sports such as soccer or football. Similar to the Chest strap that can store data to be synced later?
The Garmin HRM Pro/HRM Pro Plus or Polar H10 would work for that kind of activity. I have reviews of all of those on my channel.
Great job as always Des!!
Thanks Brian!
Is there a battery bank charger for the Samsung Galaxy watches too?
Great content :)
Thanks!!
You can also buy the bicycle mount for your smart watch.
Great suggestion!
What watch would you recommend that's $250 or less? 😮 Maybe I'll hold off one more year :)
Apple Watch Series 3, COROS Pace 2, Forerunner 45, Garmin Venu SQ! 👍
Coros Pace 2 is probably the most bang for your buck sports watch on the market right now imo

Does polar h10 heart rate sensor works with garmin instinct solar?
Yup!
Does anyone know of Garmin Venu 2 screen protectors or cases?
Which Garmin watch are better for everything?
The forerunner 945 and Fenix line will have the most features.

How can I tell if a smartwatch has the ability to connect with a chest strap or not? Thanks
Is the chest heart rate strap necessary these days? Because the heart rate censor of the watch are getting better and better
Wrist HR is getting better but chest HR straps are still better for those activities that I mentioned.
