    As always straightforward and clear , but more importantly you are the only person who does regular tot. in FS. and that makes a huge difference.... it was good to see again !😍

    Would be great to see the same thing in corona or VRay as emission and other parameters are not there in the other renderers or you can provide a working file to check with other renderers. Thank you.

    Great tut. Would love to know how this translates to Corona. Especially the translucency maps. Fstorm seems much simpler compared to Corona where we have map slots for Translucency Fraction and Translucency Colour. And as soon as we plug anything into the translucency fraction slot, the number value becomes irrelvant.

    • @RenderRam
      @RenderRam  4 місяці тому

      From what I understand, fraction affects darknes and brightness of the image, color affects just the hue part
      Where in fstorm it’s all combined together

    Will you make a video about setting up the lighting for interiror render like the scene in this video? It's just so beautiful.
    Also thank you for sharing your techniques with us!!

    @RenderRam What a great tutorial, thank you! Looking at your Kernel configuration, I would like to know where Light Samples is, it doesn't exist anymore and what does this "Samples Num and Power Based" mean? How did you arrive at these numbers 64 and 0.25? Regarding the lights, I've read that it's changed too... Yes, an updated manual would help, I'm glad we have you here, thanks!

      Yo yo! To be honest I still haven’t figured it out myself, Andrey said he’ll update manual soon for this.
      Numbers that you see, they were set like that when I opened the scene, probably some sort of converstion from my previous light samples

    Great tutorial! Just i question.. i don't know about FS but in vray there's a vray2sidedmat that could be usefull. Which one do you prefer? Does translucency affect render time compared with 2sidedmat? thanks!

    • @RenderRam
      @RenderRam  3 місяці тому

      I haven't used V-Ray for a while, probably like 7-8 years, so I don't know which one is better, but you can try to replicate a scenario that I have, black environment, one light, turn off everything in material apart from translucence/2sided material, and you can exactly see what impact does it make

    Hi V, just wondering did you switch from Corona to Fstorm ? Or were u using it from the beginning ? If so, seems like there are no big differences between these 2 renderengines however GPU seems like a HUGE difference. Would you recommend to check switching between these 2 render engines just for the sake of GPU rendering ? Thanks in advance

      I've been using FStorm all the time for personal stuff, Corona is an engine that's used at my job, so I'm using it only at work.
      Difference wise, yeah, gpu is much faster than CPU, and also from the point of hardware, you just buy new gpu... or add another gpu to double the speed etc.
      With cpu... well when it's time to change cpu, you basically buy a whole new computer hah.
      About which one is better, I personally prefer FStorm since it's my "home town". Corona has more features than FStorm, but features that FStorm has are enough for my work and personal needs.
      Each engine has pros and cons, for example FStorm has way better bump than Corona, my images heavily rely on bump for simulating realistic gloss effects, Corona is struggling with that a lot. On the other hand plants/flowers that have tons of opacity maps (like 200-300 planes with opacity in one small space), FStorm will struggle a lot with that and Corona will handle it like it's nothing.
      Try FStorm and see how it feels, you can try it for free with watermark in render. (just a note, FStorm needs Portals for windows in case you're doing interior shots :) )

    • @RenderRam
      @RenderRam  3 місяці тому

      oh and btw, FStorm has a built in Material Converter that does an amazing job, literally 70% of the objects I convert don't need any extra tweaking
