Thank you for this detailed tutorial. I FINALLY made time to create one and I wish I could show you. I just love the way it turned out! I will give it to my daughter for Christmas.
I just bought the pattern and am new to sewing. Can I use an all-purpose zipper? Is there a reason you use a plastic zipper? Also, I have 987F fusible fleece. Is that ok to use instead of 986F?
Yes you can use an all-purpose zipper. You can also use Pellon 987F fusible fleece. The reason I use a zipper with plastic teeth is so you can sew over the zipper, without breaking your needle
What kind of material would be great for this? Woven or knit? I have mainly quilting cotton left in my stash and wondering if that would be ok or not? Thank you
It depends on which size you are making, also depends if your fabric has a directional print or panel. On our website you can see the material list (last photo)
I just started sewing again after many many years and have wanted to make a book sleeve for a long time. I found this video and watched it a few times, And then finally bought the pattern. I made it a few days ago and I was so proud of myself. I’d never done a zipper and it’s been forever since I’ve done a button hole (I used a button instead of a snap), and it came out so good! It was a little confusing when you turn the whole thing right side out after the lining is attached….I thought I did it wrong because my zipper pocket was facing the wrong way. I took the whole thing apart and watched the video again and sewed it exactly the same way. Turns out I had to pull the zipper pocket through again. The video is kind of deceiving at this point, but all in all it turned out great and I can’t wait to make more!
What a fantastic tutorial! Thank you for no annoying music and speaking slowly! Can't wait to make it!
Thank you, happy to hear you like the video

I am about to buy this pattern. I love it. It's super cute. I was wondering would it be easy to make them a little bigger?
There are two sizes included in the pattern, but if you want it bigger, you can just add the extra width and hight to the pattern pieces😘
This is one of my favorite patterns!!
Happy to hear that. Happy sewing

Can you explain how i would go about a bigger size? Like an 11x9?
This is so cute! 🥰
Thank you, happy sewing

I suggest quilting cotton fabric, interfaced with Pellon 911FF or SF(101) and fusible fleece, happy sewing😀
How many sleeves can be made out of a yard of fabric?
It depends on which size you are making, also depends if your fabric has a directional print or panel. On our website you can see the material list (last photo)
Where is the fabric from?
The fabric is from Andover fabrics, and is called Beguiled
What interfacing did you use?
I use a layer of Pellon (911FF) OR SF(101) and then a layer of fusible fleece (986F) or similar.
Where can i get the pattern?
You can get the pattern here: www.sewnideas.com/product-page/book-sleeve-with-2-pockets-in-2-sizes
@@sewnideas8049 Thanks so much
What do you mean with ‘it should be interfaced’?
You should fuse Pellon (911FF) or SF101 onto the backside of all pieces, and fusible interfacing onto the backside of some of the pieces
Where can we find the peintables?
