@@Hannah_Dixon there’s a foam you can get from Michael’s that I used. It didn’t mess up my machine. I don’t remember what it was though. I made them a while ago lol

Thanks so much for posting this! I literally started sewing less than a week ago, and this was the third project I made and it turned out fantastic! Your instructions were super clear and informative. It took me less than an hour but I think I'm going to get faster because I'm planning on making this my go-to birthday gift!

Thank you so much for posting this! I made my first book sleeve this past week and I'm in love with it! I love being able to pick out my own fabrics and materials and it's really not that intimidating to make (thanks to your excellent instructions). Because of you, I'll never have to buy another overpriced book sleeve again. Thank you!

I’m so happy to have found this video. I didn’t know these were a thing until an ad popped up on FB but like you said, they were almost $20+shipping; even eBay had them for $15. As I’ve been known to carry 2 to 3 books with me at all times, the price would have mounted up pretty fast. I’d thought about knitting something like this but it would probably get dirty and fuzzy quickly. I’m heading out to Joanne or Hobby Lobby ASAP and now I have an excuse to use my poor lonely sewing machine.

It's not foam, it's called interfacing :) awesome video!!!!! Great idea. Think I'll try it because I had when the corner of a cover folds up! There is also interfacing that irons onto your fabric so you don't need adhesive spray 👌🏻

If you have trouble sewing straight on areas where the stitches show, you can hide the stitches by adding embellishments like lace.

Hi I'm extremely interested in making one of these but I have a question I'm hoping you can help me with. I need to know how you came up with your measurements for the fabric and foam? I'm wanting to make one for my paperback books and one for my hardcover books. So the one for my hardcover books would need to be much larger. So I need to know how you came up with your measurements to make it fit that book that you have? Did you measure the book and then add x amount of inches or where did you get your measurements from? how did you come up with them? Please explain in-depth to me because it has been years since I have sown anyting. I used to sew back in the day when I was younger when I lived with my grandmother but that was when I was like 10 years old and I'm 28 now so it's been an extremely long time. LOL. Anyways I also wanted to tell you that I absolutely love this video and I wish you would do more videos like this in the future. It was extremely informative and I love the way that you explained everything and made it very simple and uncomplicated.

I have! If you look up any book sleeves already for sale on etsy in a size you would like to make, all you have to do is add half an inch on each side and cut that out. So if I wanted to make one that's 10x8, I would cut it out 11x9. Hope that helps!
