French is her mother tongue ;) It's her first language, she did learn English at the beginning of her career. Jean-Jacques wrote 2 albums for her. I love "s'il suffisait d'aimer" or "On ne change pas."

This is actually her greatest hit in France. It's from her French album titled "D'eux" that is simply the most selling French album worldwide ever.

It’s not a cover, but Jean Jacques Goldman did write this song for her. The French title actually means “So that you’ll still love me” or “So that you love me again”, not really sure what the direct translation should be in English. Celine is French Canadian, so her first language/career is French.

This was a great reaction. I’m actually impressed with your French as an American reactor. Most of the American reactors I followed, even those who absolutely loves Céline Dion, they can’t even approach trying to pronounce the titles of her French songs. Kudos to you!

Céline Dion is French Canadian born and raised in charlemagne Quebec just 15 minutes from Montreal my hometown it’s her mother tongue usually peoples from the USA 🇺🇸 don’t know that Celine has recorded as much French albums as English albums so you literally know half of her career not only she sings in French and English but Celine stands out above all the greatest singers like Aretha Franklin withney Houston or Mariah Carey by having singing in 9 different languages witch is absolutely crazy here’s a little video of her singing in 9 languages she even sing in mandarin ua-cam.com/video/9ImrFSKICFc/v-deo.htmlsi=wBVeWv0ait31fJGf

I have adored this song since the early 90's and have so many fond memories built around it. Both versions (French and English) are favorites of mine! English version is called "If That's What It Takes" in case anyone's curious. It's also totally worth a listen! Thank you so much for reacting to this! This video was pure nostalgia for me. Cheers D!

Celine is french-canadien and in Canada she was "famous" in a very young age where she sang with her family. She is the youngest of 13 children.

JJ Goldman has written several albums for Céline. this song is part of the album "D'eux" another song from the same album more rhythmic and rock "J'irai où tu iras" in duet with JJG.
que [kə] is pronounced like that phonetically otherwise it means something else like butt 🍑 . "un Fou" for a man "une Folle "for a woman . we like things complicated for those who want to learn the French language. SORRY 😉

Hello again Uncle D, (song translation down there)
She is from the Francophone region of Canada (Le Quebec).
“Dion” is a French surname mostly carried in the department of Indre, located in the heart of France. It undoubtedly designates the one who comes from a locality called “Dion” in the past (it could be the village of “Diou”).
Another thing, that’s not quite the meaning of the song rather speaking of a young provincial woman discovering the more dissolute life of the inhabitants of the metropolises who are, factually, more “reasonable,” in the sense of less passionate, less invested in their romantic relationships: “That’s how it’s around here,” “that’s thus the others do, but I’m not the others, no …no, no, no …no.”
She immediately warns her new companion, who seems to have this life, that she doesn’t work that way.
She expresses a future idea and uses the conditional: “Before we get attached, before we get until the crash, you must realize, I’ll go seek your heart IF you bring it elsewhere.”
The correct translation should be “In the hope you'll still love me.”
I offer you here the translation that I posted on lyrics translate:
“In 'hope you'll still love me.” (equirhythmic, metered, poetic, rhyming, singable)
    I understood every word,
    I understood them, thanks.
New and reasonable, It's thus like this around here
That many things have changed, and the flowers have withered,
The time of before was the time of before.
May if all zaps and tires, thus the loves also pass.

    You must realize…

I'll go seek your heart if you bring it elsewhere,
More, if in your dances, some others dance your hours.
I could go seek your soul in the ice, in the flames.
If I cast spells, it would be in hope you still love me,
In 'hope you'll still love me.…

You didn't have to start, attract me ...and touch me.
You needn't give as much. I, I don't know how to play.
    I am told that today,
I am told that the others do so.
But I'm not the others, no …no, no, no …no.
Before we get attached, before we get to crash,

    You'd better know that:
I'll go seek your heart if you bring it elsewhere.
Even if in your dances, some others dance your hours
I could go seek your soul in the ice, in the flames.
If I cast spells, it would be in hope you still love me…

Finding a language to sing your praises,
I'll pack our luggage for infinite vintages.
The magic formulas of African marabouts,
I'll use them without fear In 'hope you'll still love me..

I could fashion me queen so that you hold me back.
I'll become myself new, may the fire restart.
I'll become those others who give you this pleasure.
All your games will be ours if that's your desire.
Much brighter, prettier to build a new dream,
I'd turn love in ruby In 'hope you'll still love me.…
In 'hope you'll still love me.…
In 'hope you'll still love me.…
In 'hope you'll still love me.…
In 'hope you'll still love me.…
    Peace, folks. ☮👈😎

    - Si vous me permettez Madame, on ne dit pas "la roue de la gare" mais plutôt "la rie de la gare". (Popeck) 😅
Uncle D, "que" isn't pronounced "Q" (Q is pronounced like "cul" - ass, lol - in French). The "E" in "QUE" is pronounced like the "A" in "A dog."
If you said "cut" removing the "T" at the end, you'd pronounce the French "que" approximately correctly.

I have always thought that was Céline's best song, written by Jean-Jacques Goldman. LARA FABIAN, giving due respect to Céline, had her our own piano/voice interpretation that also did justice to Goldman's composition: ua-cam.com/video/5J44agq5XQQ/v-deo.html

She's from Québec, a french speaking province in Canada, for historic reasons.
Goldman was the master in composing songs for most known singers, so he composed logicelly for her.
The bad news for me is I dont like this song 😐
