Just a question, Borodante always mentions the mirror effect caused in objects at a very strong angle, like he did in this. What's the name of this effect? I don't know if I listen to it correctly
I was the artist of the original submission and I'm not really one to comment on youtube videos, but I'm so amazed on the look you got in the end! That kind of really sterile background looks like she's being studied in some lab it's so cool! And yeah, the water inside I colored blue less because it's plain water and more because I knew the blue/teal would pop against that pink. I had progressed a little since I submitted the video and kinda wish I could do more shading before submitting (it's a little too obvious that my art program at the time didn't really mix paint). I remember when coloring though that was worried that the face would be hard to see because the water was so blue. turning it into a tint only seen in the shadows was smart, for putting more details in the face.
are you still do art? i wanna be like you one day. and then i hope we can both be mini boros one day far after that :) i like your chan and i think if you tried to teach you could help beginner artists like me. boro is amazing, but im so far from the drawing and painting skill level that he has its hard to take in all the stuff he teaches, i mostly watch for the entertainment factor and im hoping his good info will stick with me when i can actually make the art I want to
critiquing art is so hard and you do it so well. more critiquers can come off as rude but i only ever get positive vibes from you and i love the follow through with actually showing and not just telling how to fix a problem
dude youre one of the few people that actually teach the theory behind everything which is kind of essential if you draw without references . Keep that up please! :)
I do wanna add that I really liked the original art too cause it was very nicely stylized, I love Boro's version too but I think the original should get credit for it's unique style it had
What I really appreciate in Boro's video is that he always find a way to teach complex concepts with simple explanations and demonstrations. Thank you for that, it helps a lot !
These kind of lighting scenes are commonly referred to as studio lighting (as if you put something in a white "box" to take pictures of it without too many shadows). Ambient occlusion looked good. And the Fresnel effect is something people keep forgetting, good point. I do however feel like you made the glass bottle too matte, texture-wise. Unless it was matte glass, it would have stronger contrast in a mirrored fashion around the rim of the thick glass edge. You even went over the refraction and the idea, but still made it a little too matte because light penetrates even thicker glass at the edges, so you would have a deeper darker colour close to the object and less haze.
What the-? Haha, this is not a complaint, I was just really amused and perplexed by your choice of art for water and glass tutorial on thumbnail. Kudos to that artist for creativity!
Boro! I think you should put more brightness on the arms that are out of the glass to look more like it is a wet surface. But I loved the result! Nice work! Some day I will be almost your level haha
Loving the original illustration for this piece, as far as cartoons go it was pretty well designed and I liked the stylized coloring. The original artist should embrace this style and build on it. Very cool.
I want to cry every time I see your painting - it looks so easy while you do it but it's absolutely unachievable! Though physics lessons are really helpful. And that was really funny - "You are expecting me to tell you how it works, but I just draw these rounded corners everywhere" - I was really excited to hear some conspyracy theory about refractions X))
I found your channel recently and I'm simply amazed. Your stuff is amazingly helpful and I'm really surprised that you are doing all this for free. Much love.
What the heck this is super useful! I knew next to nothing about reflection and how glass worked in that sense until I watched this, thanks for the help!
Your way of making video, your knowledge of illustration and even your way of life, keeps me hopeful about life and motivated to develop my art. Thank you.
Wait where's the other million subs? With your artistic abilities, and just your channel overall you should have at least 1 million subs, anyway keep up the awesome vids I subbed and liked!
Is there any art science you didn't master yet? Thanks especially for tips on what to do if there is no specific light. Glass rendering tips were also very helpful. The result is awesome. Really, I think you improved a lot in 2017, now everything you paint is just perfect. Character is also super interesting, not gonna lie, and the style the original author did it was appealing, too. I would love to see other their characters.
this is very interesting! the original has its charm too, personally i like the flat colors as well, its just a style, but i also really enjoy seeing the super rendered version as well!!
that's awesoe I really liked the original artwork, it's just a different style, looked like made with vectors very 2D, and the overpaint is also awesome just more realistic
Damn you really know your stuff about lighting! I’m confident to say I’ve learnt some new things today :) Edit: could you do an in-depth tutorial on electricity ?
Yes pleeease post tutorials about translucent/transparent materials and reflective objects! Just like this one please explain the science behind the light interactions! Thank you!
Wow, I love this rendering!! Great job as always! I'll admit, when I first started watching your vids I thought you were being kind of sarcastic and negative because your voice is kind of flat, but since I couldn't detect any malice in there I continued watching your vids, and you're just so sweet! ; v ; So glad I continued watching! ! ! Stay cool, yo!! : D
Cool rendering and credits should also go to the creator for such a good creature concept. I would definitely like to see more of your glass and water effects in future videos... you know your stuff.
I personally liked the original better, the makeover you did on it was amazing, however I personally love that flat rigid style that was in the original one, if the artist of the original ever reads this I want you to know that even though the flatness isn't what you were shooting for its still absolutely beautiful and perhaps some people don't like it and for you that's not what you wanted, but I loved it it was amazing, it kind of reminds me of the backgrounds in Steven universe, particularly the sky. I myself am an artist, and I'm not quite that good yet because I haven't had enough practice and I'm only 16. But I love your art, sorry for bad Grammer and context structure
best tutorials in youtube... , love this..., If you could show us more about reflections tips and all that hard stuff..., would be awesome, ty so much for your time and knowledge boro, rlly ty...
Nice positive and uplifting tips! I honestly like both versions equally. One is very appealing and bright and the other has the technical skill and depth. The design looks great though. I do think having the liquid inside be blue looked nice though.
Awesome overall, but smth not right with that bulb reflection? It should have borders and stronger white spots on top-down or left-right,no? It lost its thickness
I just found you yesterday and geez I'm in love! Your videos got me back into digital art, which I started doing 7 years ago by only using mouse and MS Paint hahaha (god, i feel old) O_O but then for some reason stopped and tried to improve my traditional techniques. If I wasn't buying a car atm, I'd 100% buy a better tablet ;X ehh, maybe after few years! Anyways, keep up the good work, I don't understand why do you only have 65k subscribes, you're golden lol!♥
This is was very helpful and especially interesting as I’m currently learning about reflection, refraction, and Fernell’s Law in physics class. However, was wondering if you can make a video explaining the reflections given off by metal surfaces as i am trying to make realistic looking watches. Love the video.
Just a question, Borodante always mentions the mirror effect caused in objects at a very strong angle, like he did in this. What's the name of this effect? I don't know if I listen to it correctly
Thanks, I want to learn more about it
Keep Rocking! The Hell you think they asked what it was called for?
Also, Fresnel lenses are great for starting fires
Remember Fresnel is pronounced Frah-nell after the french physicist's last name.
I wonder how often she turns in her grave when someone says "Frez-nelle"

You need to look at references to learn. Dont use a reference if you already know how to render your piece.
I do wanna add that I really liked the original art too cause it was very nicely stylized, I love Boro's version too but I think the original should get credit for it's unique style it had
I really loved it. The artist has a really cool style
Yeah I also think its really cool! :D
What I really appreciate in Boro's video is that he always find a way to teach complex concepts with simple explanations and demonstrations. Thank you for that, it helps a lot !
Incredible change from almost cartoon to a well rendered picture. Bororendering always works

Really liked the concept behind this, pretty original idea.
50% of the comments: art analysis, boro-fanning, rendering techniques
Other 50%: dabbing pose figures
Borofanning only 50%? Shame
1.5%: Gorillaz Poster
Your pic makes me think you're part of that 50% "dab pose figures"
Very nice bro 👍

this is the best over pain episode in my opinion ... so much info
Your videos are the only thing that motivates me at the minute and it's just a huge awesome bonus I learn so much from them too
I want to cry every time I see your painting - it looks so easy while you do it but it's absolutely unachievable! Though physics lessons are really helpful. And that was really funny - "You are expecting me to tell you how it works, but I just draw these rounded corners everywhere" - I was really excited to hear some conspyracy theory about refractions X))
maybe the best art tutorial I've ever seen!
I found your channel recently and I'm simply amazed. Your stuff is amazingly helpful and I'm really surprised that you are doing all this for free. Much love.

дааа, заметив яичного война, я влюбился в этот канал ))))
def one of my favorite overpaints, both because of the initial monster girl concept, and how it turned out through borofilter
What the heck this is super useful! I knew next to nothing about reflection and how glass worked in that sense until I watched this, thanks for the help!
I love how he explained the science of it and how to apply it in our own work!
It's great how you take each overpain and make them highly teachable moments. Keep up the awesome content!
i love listening to his voice, its kinda soothing in a way
Your way of making video, your knowledge of illustration and even your way of life, keeps me hopeful about life and motivated to develop my art. Thank you.
Thx ! I was actually trying to paint a glass character and this helped me a lot. Nice coincidence that you posted this video now.
Another great video. Especially the explanation for the glass layer. Love it
Wait where's the other million subs? With your artistic abilities, and just your channel overall you should have at least 1 million subs, anyway keep up the awesome vids I subbed and liked!
This is the first time I've watched one of your videos, I'm sooo subscribing!
Thank you so much for explaining it in a way I can understand! ❤️👍🏼 that character is so cool! I’d love to see that story.
I love all the theory stuff, definitely one of my favorite episodes! Thanks Boro
its amazing to be able to hear the science behind the art, great video
You really know what you are talking about. Thanks a lot for sharing knowledge, love it
What a lesson!! super nice!!
You are *_brilliant_* sir! Great work on the spherical glass part.
holy shit u managed to make the creature go from creepy cute to just terrifying, i like it :)
I think I've never learned so much about Art theory in that short time
So close to 100k! Congratulations Boro!
Very nice additions. Pretty scary vision this character brings!
What an interesting video! Thanks! Super excited to study this myself
man im amazed how much knowledge you got on everything.
Is there any art science you didn't master yet? Thanks especially for tips on what to do if there is no specific light. Glass rendering tips were also very helpful.

Awesome video as always very straight forward and easy to learn:)
Wow do more of these. i thought the first one was pretty good until i saw yours and then it was just so flat. Learned a lot here.
Wow! there was so much in that tutorial that I had never heard any other artist mention before!
i appreciate you explaining the glass so much thankyou god bless you
WHY DID I NOT DISCOVER YOUR CHANNEL EARLIER! This is exactly what I wanted...amazing skills dude
Brilliant, i think you described everything perfectly. Also amazing art work!
WOW awesome work & explanation
this is very interesting! the original has its charm too, personally i like the flat colors as well, its just a style, but i also really enjoy seeing the super rendered version as well!!
Thanks for uploading, your videos have helped me a lot, and I hope you keep growing as a person. Do what ever you want! A big hug from México!
that's awesoe I really liked the original artwork, it's just a different style, looked like made with vectors very 2D, and the overpaint is also awesome just more realistic
It felt like I was in school or was being taught a science lesson lol! Keep it up my dude.
this one really turned out quite well! Awesome stuff and a great initial design!!!
love your videos, fascinating, you describe things so thoughtfully, really helpful
Damn you really know your stuff about lighting! I’m confident to say I’ve learnt some new things today :)
Edit: could you do an in-depth tutorial on electricity ?
I think it's funny how "electricity" could be misinterpreted... And also imagining the possibility of boro making a video about energy generators
Sid Gautama haha lmao XD just what I was looking for!
Yes pleeease post tutorials about translucent/transparent materials and reflective objects! Just like this one please explain the science behind the light interactions! Thank you!
Just found you, this is great... Good quality, educational content with a relaxed vibe.
Данте, спасибо за разборы) Очень познавательно :)

Excellent lesson. Thank you.
Wow, literally exactly what I was looking for
