    thats a neat little igniter! altho, im wondering how much heat the glow plug wire can sustain before it starts melting?

    • @TheRCBiker
      @TheRCBiker  4 роки тому

      I ran my wire through some fuel tubing in the end to protect it from heat. Think it was a heat resistant cable anyway though!

    I have this "Auto Glower" too. It´s a really fine thing.
    But after only three or four starts, the glow plug doesn´t glow no more :(
    Now I don´t know, the "Auto Glower" is broken or could it be that it doesn´t work when the Accu gets to low in voltage.
    I press the glow button and the red LED lights up as usual, but the glow plug keeps cold (other plugs I tested, too) .... :(

    Hello!
    I bought one and have problem!
    When I try to ignite the glow plug, ignitor ignites it shortly ( max 2 seconds and should be 10 ) and then blinks 2 times
    That's may be silly, but I'm using 4x turnigy LSD AA NIMH 2550 mah accumulators as a power suply....
    Can someone help me please?

    Looks really handy, i wonder how much battery it uses after you have used it a couple times on one charge. but its a really cool idea im seriously considering it for my savage 4.6.

      It certainly works well when it's sat on the work bench. Have to wait and see what it's like when it's been on the car throughout a bashing outing and jumps etc!

    Hi, could you foresee any melting wire issues with it resting on the cylinder
    head? Great videos btw, helped me out loads of times. Keep up the good work.
    Cheers

    • @TheRCBiker
      @TheRCBiker  7 років тому +2

      I don't think so. I imagine it's a wire that'll be resistant to high temperatures. You could always run the wire through a piece of fuel tubing first ? But you'd have to disconnect it at one of the ends to thread it through.

    • @clumprider
      @clumprider 7 років тому

      JT12's R/C Videos yeah i thought about that. Thanks for the reply. I've only been running nitro for 6 months or so but have caught the bug! Cheers.

    maybe a silly question will that wire not melt on the engine?

    • @TheRCBiker
      @TheRCBiker  7 років тому +1

      No I assume it's heat resistant, however what you could do, and I'd recommend this anyway for the purpose of protecting the wire if the buggy flips over, is thread the wire through some fuel tubing.

      hey would you consider doing a updated nitro for beginners guide? im thinking of getting a nitro and (all the nitro videos are really old) to compare with my slash 4x4, maybe ill get a traxxas slayer

    • @TheRCBiker
      @TheRCBiker  7 років тому

      Possibly - Although my more recent videos cover first starts etc, they'll tell you all you need to know :) I could re-do the series but personally I think if you follow the first start videos, breaking in & tuning etc, these cover everything I'd put into the series anyway. I feel it'd be a bit unnecessarily , personally?

    Hey, thanks for the video. Question for you or the viewers... I'm about to get a twin engine model airplane and, for the sake of safety, I'd like to keep the glow plug permanently energized during the flight.... Will this module do the job provided I have a large enough battery to keep it working? Thanks

    • @TheRCBiker
      @TheRCBiker  3 роки тому

      Yes most likely as they don't consume much power. But this system is no longer available, and you'll be getting through glow plugs like nobody's business

  • @royarsey5429
    @royarsey5429 7 років тому +1

    basically its just a glow ignitor without plugging one?
    i thought it is a nitro starter without coming to the buggy. like start it without touching the car.

    • @TheRCBiker
      @TheRCBiker  7 років тому +2

      No it's just a glow starter, it doesn't start the engine.

    Hi JT12,
    I use a 7.4v Lipo to run my R.C gear, would I be able to add this unit to my spare channel or would I run a risk of burning the unit out?
    I see that the glow system voltage range is 4.0-6.8.
    Awesome video's by the way.

    • @TheRCBiker
      @TheRCBiker  7 років тому +1

      I would expect 7.4v to run it fine I'm sure I've used a 2s LiPo to power my receiver with this before.

    ive had 3 of the hobbyking remote glow drive units and all have failed.
    they are a great idea in theory but the electrics in them are junk!!!.
    all 3 had a small chip break off the circuit board. even tho I wrapped the unit up to prevent any vibration.
    one broke on first start up!
    funny I don't see them advertised anymore...

    Careful with the red wire so tight at the engine, if this hasn't a high-temperature insulation like e.g. silicone there soon will be a short-circuit!
