    If your Engine hasn't been started for several months, starting it can be a hassle. They usually won't start as easily as if they'd been started recently. This tutorial covers some steps in getting it set up and ready for use again. If you've got any questions feel free to drop me a message below!

    Use a heat gun or even a blow dryer to warm up engine before starting is probly the best tip I can give for easy startup.

    • @TheRCBiker
      @TheRCBiker  7 років тому +12

      Yes that's fine if you're at home with electricity :)

      Lol, yes it only works if you have access to electricity ,or battery powered heat gun though I have never seen a battery powered heat gun.

    I’m brand new to nitro and bought one a while back. I happen to find it out in storage and was trying to get it back to working order. I couldn’t until I watched your video and followed it step by step and to my amazement it started right up. That’s for the great self explanatory video brother

      JT12's R/C Videos the engine will 'cut' 😐 and wash with water?? there still will be water residue in it! you get proper cleaning chemicals for cleaning a tank so you do that leave and water×small jets in a carb = rebuild. your not really explaining how and what to do properly like it will 'cut' you mean stall wash with hot water. there will still be water residue in it! and blocking the exhaust could cause the engine to blow up if it started! and that would be a nice cut into your bank account! and if a engine sits for a while you should properly clean out the carb or it could not pass through fuel cause it will be gummed up with rubbish!! plus learn technical terms when talking about an engine cause it will really annoy people who now better about them than you and their probably the ones who dislike the video!! so learn proper terms and use comment scenes!

    Great guide, really like your videos...BUT. One fatal mistake on this one. You adjusted idle gap from fully closed, with your throttle trim. When you get it started this way, the engine will stall when you apply the brakes. ALWAYS. Make sure idle gap is as specified 1-2mm when brake is applied, this way the servo is forcing it shut( but adjust with open throttle, or you may damage the carb). Again, love your guides, well spoken and eksplaned.

    very informative refresher tutorial , i miss using my nitro buggy.
    btw you over flooded the engine, but it did help lubricate the motor well before it actually started.
    i recommend fresh after run oil instead of nitro gas after removing glow plug then crank it a few times without glow plug igniter.
    then prime and add power to start the engine.

    I have seen inside engines that have sat for a year with no after run oil, and it wouldn't run st all no matter how hard I tried. So I took the engine apart and cleaned all of the sludge and stuff up and it ran again. If you can't get it to start at all I would advice tearing it apart and making sure every component inside that engine is super clean. But make sure you re oil your piston and connecting rod and bearings before you put it together

    Hi mate , had my stepsons nanda buggie started after few months in house starts no problem but won't stop on the ground just stalls can't figure it out had no problems before with it could the clutch be gone ?

    • @lewisturner3204
      @lewisturner3204 5 років тому

      make sure you leave the buggie running for a minute or so to allow the engine to heat up, lift the wheels off the ground and gently give gas, if the wheels turn then the clutch should be fine, then put the buggie back on the floor, give it a gentle push and apply a small amount of throttle and try and maintain speed, it should then work, if it stalls it's probably not getting enough fuel so unscrew the screw a little nex5 to the engine to allow more fuel in.

      Depends entirely on the conditions. If you've been driving on dirt / sand then I'd certainly look at taking the engine apart and cleaning the parts. If it's been on tarmac then it wont be as bad, but personally I'd clean it either way.

      Electric debate too honest electric can be too
      Much as much as these 75cc petrol engines you see for the 1/5 scale cars electric is more complicated because of the battery get it wrong and burn your house down too be honest gas cars are more fun it’s simpler to get a lipo charger that charges simply in a simple way meaning more fun grab your gas grab your receiver battery and bash around your local field lol on the plus side your car won’t catch on fire so that’s a bonus aswel

    josh if you remove the orange venturi from the carburetor you will see a the 1mm opening gap, keep that in mind, incase you adjust the idle screw or increase throttle trims and when you start it, it may take off mate :) by the way there is rust at the bottom of my glow plug mate. also, what type of glow plug will need for my .15 engine?

    When you pour fuel directly into the cylinder as you did ...always spin over the engine to get the excessive fuel out of the cylinder...it also gets it closer to a gas state. If too much fuel is put in remember fuel does not compress so with a very powerful starter you could do damage to the engine.

    I need help!! Just bought 2 nitro cars from someone and they both worked fine for a few hours... but 1 doesn't wanna start anymore even though it has compression... and the 2nd one now stalls when I hit the throttle... the problemen... they are made for 20% nitromethane... I used 25% nitromethane. How bad can it be damaged from this mistake? Nothing has blown up but 1 doesn't start anymore... it wants to start sometimes and idle for 3 seconds at best and the other one can only idle....

    Good afternoon. I write to you from Ukraine, a bad translation. I want to ask you a question. I have mercedes dtm 2008. He went and worked, but then something went wrong. The car is a bad start .. the engine is roaring, the bell is spinning, but the car does not go, jerks take, thought the clutch, bought a new one, similarly does not work. I noticed that the bell is rotating in another direction, I changed the bearings, did not help, I installed new bast shoes, it also did not help. - what could it be? My engine is set up correctly. it accelerates quickly, there are turns, but there is no catch in the clutch .. I changed them already 3, + rollers + bearings, no difference .. does not go. I need help..

    I just bought a ftx carnage and my son crashed it into a tree last week
    It started up fine after the crash but the front bar was bent.
    I have replaced this but now it wont start
    Any ideas as I've tried everything suggested

    • @TheRCBiker
      @TheRCBiker  4 роки тому

      Hi John, I don't think the crash is related to it not starting. have you tried putting some fuel directly in the glow plug hole to see if it fires up? Also check the glow plug is working, and, It may sound obvious - but make sure your igniter is charged up!

    • @johnswallow5439
      @johnswallow5439 4 роки тому

      I've figured it out, there was some kind of fuel blockage. I emptied the system and shortened the piping
      Firing up fine now

    And also I think its idle speed is a bit fast is there a way of tuning it down?

    uh...ive had nitro fuel thats been chillin in my garage for about 5 years OR MORE...and it still works a charm.

    • @TheRCBiker
      @TheRCBiker  3 роки тому

      It all depends where you keep it ;) Cool dark place like a garage will be OK. But some people put it in warm lofts or garden summerhouses where it hot & condensates

      @@TheRCBiker ah i got ya, yah it was kept in a garage just chillin. Then when i went to use it again i half suspected it not to work but decided to give it a go and YEP worked like new. I did gently mix it though just to be safe.

    i used Carburetor cleaner sense the fuel was jelly inside the engine i got it started in 2 days but i don't use it much sense of the cold and the nitro i have will only last for 2 1/2 tanks or so

    • @jangisgand6140
      @jangisgand6140 7 років тому

      You should've used just normal nitro fuel instead of carburetor cleaner, carburetor cleaner will dissolve your gaskets.

    So do I do the same thing if my car has been sitting for 12 years. And I don't have a pull start or box because my brand doesn't make this car any more. Do I use a drill or a rope?

    • @HALOman-vi2tg
      @HALOman-vi2tg 6 років тому

      Ethyn 199 it will have either a pull start or some kind of thing to insert a special bit into for electric start. What is this car?

    If it is for setting for months, I usually open the engine first to make sure there is no rust build up inside.

    • @TimN333
      @TimN333 5 років тому

      Why would there be rust in there? You shouldn't have much moisture in there Especially after just a couple months. Just always use after run and you'll be fine. Dont bother checking unless you decide to just put a couple more drops of after run in.
