    Such a wonderful showcase of how much fun there is to be had with black powder firearms, not to mention the possible historical analysis, thank you!

    Incidentally, Sir, I appreciate you being the good chap who forwent much personal shooting to be the sergeant for the troops. Takes a generous man to stand behind and command at an event where you otherwise would be getting more opportunity to discharge arms than you might ordinarily.

    I recognise the miniatures - I think those are formerly from Mike Snook's Indian Mutiny Range, now under Empress. Quite the stunning thing to see in the flesh too!

    That was absolutely marvelous, as always--it gets better every year, thank you so much for sharing. I especially liked the drone shots for perspective. But... Did I see Brett biting a cartridge in the opening volleys? Barbaric! Gentlemen tear, they don't bite!

    Brilliant! I always look forward to watching this every year. It looks like so much fun and its's wonderful to see so many fine historic rifles and muskets being used by those who evidently really respect their history. I already look forward to watching next years shoot. Best wishes.

    At one stage in the defence of Hindoo Rao's House the 9 man firing line was managing just 15 rounds per minute with 4-5 skirmishers hit - they'd have to quicken the pace a bit to avoid getting overrun !

    Out of curiosity, would anyone happen to know if there were many flintlock weapons still actively used by Sepoys in the 1850s? I know the British were unusually keen to arm the Sepoys with modern rifles in the 1850s, but trying to establish how modern the weapons the troops had before being issued rifles is proving trickier for me than I expected.

    • @britishmuzzleloaders
      @britishmuzzleloaders  2 роки тому +2

      Not by Sepoys (professional Indian soldiers) but certainly by the civilian masses that flocked to their cause... The Bengal Army (the one of the three in India from which most of the Mutinous Regiments came from) was armed with EIC percussion smoothbores.

    A historical british brutality match in some aspects. Putting that all together surely took some time. If you use white lettering text overlay, give it a black outline so it'll be readable on any background. That Cavalry Carbine...I'd like one of those.
    They're moving! Amazing! How was that arranged? A winch? RC cars? Lots of fun to watch the Volleys and seeing the fun time when the weather was in your favour.

    Any Indian shooters show interest in this event (or the British Militaria Forum)? I'd be tempted to include targets representing members of the (dis)Honourable East India Company and a group of shooters dressed as Sepoys to be fair to history and inclusive. After all, the event is considered the First War of Independence in some quarters. Fascinating stuff. TFP
