In this first video of the series about key squares, IM Alex Astaneh will cover the very important concept of key squares and how they apply in king and pawn endgames.
    Summary:
    What is a key square?
    - The key square is a square that we, the side with the extra pawn, want to bring our king to. If we can get our king to that square, we guarantee victory.
    - The key square theory is the theoretical framework. Opposition is more considered as a method, a tool that you use.

Alex is such a instructive teacher! He calmly breaks down these complex theoretical concepts, and delivers the information in a slow, calculated, and easy to understand way. Cannot thank you enough Alex for taking the time to make these videos for us beginners, new to the chess world, and uploading them to a platform where they are free for anyone to watch at any time. I have learned so much and this series was something that I was struggling to understand. You truly are one of the people that have helped make chess become one of the best parts of my life! 🙏❤

As a super beginner I felt like the explanation of opposition in this video was a lot more helpful than the key squares because I saw the process of why and how and felt like the key squares was just like reading an answer to a problem I could not solve, before you briefly explained opposition I didn't understand at all.

Poor definition of key squares. "Skipping a row" may be a definition, but certainly not a reason.
