this is probably the first puyo tutorial series that didn't feel like one of those "first, draw the circle. then, draw the rest of the owl" lessons lmao great work
The way this lesson is structured is SO GOOD! Absolutely love the intentionally inefficient play building up to the explanation of more advanced concepts! Like the first example of garbage management where you clear the garbage and free the trigger, and then the second where you demonstrate a dig chain. Lotta stuff like that in this lesson and it's great!
Possibly the best way chaining has ever been explained for a beginner. This is EXACTLY how I started chaining as a 5 year old - 1 chain extension at a time. (and I still do that in a way, which is why my turnover is so RNG lol)
oh my god this like. cleared so much up for me i knew the structure of making a two chain but i could never reliably get past that because i didnt have the mental image of “blocking” the trigger with more puyos to build on it. this is explained so well thank you!
man this video helped a lot! I can't seem to find many puyo tutorials that aren't gtr so having a tutorial for more basic things that are actually helpful is really nice, great job!
Hey yoshi, I really like this format tutorial. Even though you already have a GTR tutorial you should really make more videos that go more into detail. It was easier for me when you said : "Connect 3 puyo at the start" "Block the puyo" Etc etc. I am able to do 5 chains now Edit : I also really liked that you added vignette in parts like 5:02. That is also really helpful.
I'm so glad it was able to help!! And yeah, not to worry, I'm working on expanding on this new series so that I can present things in a way that should be easier to understand!
Every so often, my friend and I play against each other on "Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine" (the ports are ubiquitous). With these tactics, he's gonna be SO SURPRISED!
This is by far the best Puyo tutorial I've seen. I've played the game on and off for years and always just got stuck using the staircase method without really understanding anything else. Thank you so much I'm having a lot fun playing now.
Absolutely! It's a passion of mine to be able to help others players grow and learn more about Puyo, so I'll definitely continue to work on the series!
This is great! I only really understood the Stairs method before now (Which you've called the "Fixed Method"? What?). This will likely be helpful to me in coming up with chains on the fly instead of getting stuck as soon as I misdrop a Puyo or get garbage in the wrong place. That always turns into a bit of a scramble for me, haha
I'm glad it was helpful!! And what I called it there was a "fixed form", which is a general name for repeatable shapes rather than the actual name of the form (Stairs as you said), so there'll be more on that in the next tutorial!
@@Yoshi100_Aus Ah, okay! I figured there was an explanation there lol. But I also know from the Panel community that terminology doesn't always stay the same between everyone, heheh. Good to know.
In this case, yes actually! The reason I didn't in this video is just to show the step-by-step of how we go from clearing garbage and then chaining to how we can do both garbage-clearing at the same time as chaining as I do afterwards.
I don’t know what I’m doing wrong but I cant do it. I keep trying over and over again but I’m starting to convince myself that I’m too stupid or something. It really sucks because I love this series but I just can’t understand.
Take your time, don't worry! Learning to be patient with yourself is one of the mental skills you have to learn as part of this game - it's not an easy game, so you're not dumb for not getting it immediately! If you keep at it, I'm sure you'll be able to chain with time. The chain simulator that I referenced in the video may be a useful resource here.

Thank you Oz!!! That means a lot to me to hear!!
In this episode, Local austalian Yoshi bullies a girl from a story book in order to demonstrate sorcery
It's for a good cause I swear...!!
certified hood classic comment right here

Awwww heck, thank you!!! And yeah, this is certainly the most intuitive way to think about how to chain! Must've been a smart kiddo though :3c

Year update : I can do 10 chains now

Can already chain decently but still watched the entire video anyways. I wished I had this when I first started learning how to play Puyo.
Ahh, thank you!!
thank you yoshi! glad you didn't give up on the tutorial series
Absolutely! It's a passion of mine to be able to help others players grow and learn more about Puyo, so I'll definitely continue to work on the series!
Relearning puyo through these tutorials is nice, thank you for making them
Aww, that's awesome!! You're very welcome ^^
these tutorials agre great, they go through each step in a way that it makes a lot of sense. thank you!
Glad you're finding them useful!! Stay tuned, the third part will be out soon~
Thank you so much for making this series! I already feel like I'm learning a ton.
I'm so glad to hear that!!

At 5:07
Would it be a good ideas to clear the green puyous with the red/green group?
Because it would extend the chain by 1
In this case, yes actually!

Thank you, Popoi keeps kicking my ass on the DS. This well help!!
Here's to even better videos!
One note: The term "blocking method" doesn't exist in South Korea and Japan, also known as "the homeland".
I dont know what I’m doing wrong but I just can’t chain them. Am I just stupid or something?
I learned how to stair with the mean bean tutorial
Thanks for the tutorial bro. Now I am one step closer to destroying my tetris brother stan in this game hahaha
Hahaha, no worries!! Go get 'em :P
Look! A yoshi vid that is not a live stream!
I used this video to beat squares in 7-1 - 7-3 in ppt2
These caption sfx though 😂
Hambota is amazing hahaha
How did I stumble onto this game, it’s basically Tetris with new rules
*cute attack sounds*
*epic war scream*
*Counting to 3 in squirrel language*
An amazing tutorial with amazing captions
Hahaha thank you!! Big shoutouts to hambota for the amazing captions!

I also don’t get it. Attempting to play puyo makes me think I have brain damage or something.
Hmm, you sound similar to sig like his brother? Sorry i know random thought.😂
