  • Hi I'm Wendy a resin artist and crafter.
    In this video I am making two resin casts from moulds purchased from Etsy (link below).
    I am dusting the moulds with mica powder and casting them with resin giving a talk through guide as I show you the process.
    They will be used in a piece I am showing you next week. So be sure to come back next week to see how I am using them.
    If you have any comments suggestions or ideas please use the comment section below and I will get back to you.
    Thanks for watching

    Have you tried Rezin Art micas or Bling It color shifting powders for resin, and Color Art powders for acrylic. They are from Color Art. I think JR buys from them. The Bling It chameleon colors are fantastic Color shifting.

    How do you get the colors to show up on clear resin? I've been getting into uv resin and just got mica powder. I tried to use it today but I was using black and silver but it didn't seem to show up when I brushed my mold and when I mixed the powder in the resin it wouldn't cure. Can you give me any advice?

    • @Toonpish
      @Toonpish  Рік тому

      UV resin cures with light. If the light can not travel through it because the colour is too dark it can not cure. 😣
      If you want to colour uv resin but want a dark colour then you have to go extremely thin layers and cure each layer and I’m talking paper thin layers.
      Epoxy resin works differently and will cure over time.
      I hope this helps you 😀❤️

    Maybe I'm just not parsing what I'm seeing right- entirely possible with my brain -but the black coloring that you called Hemway looks like it's a liquid instead of a powder? Am I just not parsing that right, or is that what you used? I also noticed you used a different tool for the black than you did the other colors, which just looks like a normal paint brush to me. What tool is that? (I'm new to resin, got the basics down relatively well, now wanting to expand my coloring techniques, but I'm not familiar with some of the tool names.)
    The resin8 link goes to a "site cannot be reached" error, btw. :/

    • @Toonpish
      @Toonpish  4 місяці тому

      Hello 😀😀 ok so resin 8 sadly is sadly no longer in business 😔
      The black powder from Hemway is mixed with 99% isopropyl alcohol which makes it liquid and is then applied with a brush.
      Here is a little video that will help you understand how that works.

    If u have issues finding certain colors micas don’t “have” I use eyeshadows” found a GORGEOUS red from Amazon that came in a set I use them sparingly, but there are Etsy shops that are usually for makeup lol also if a store on Etsy called Pearl Pleasures get some of theirs very rich and bold

    Hi, I see your red mica also turned brown-ish, but you were ok with it and you didn’t say anything about the reason for it or how to fix this problem. All my red roses turned a muddy colour when I pour black resin over them and I need to know how to retain the colour - can you help? The chameleon powders were ok with the black background.

    • @Toonpish
      @Toonpish  3 місяці тому

      I hear you. Red is a really hard colour.
      I have searched and searched for a good red and although I have found a few, none of them work with black behind them sadly. And I have people trying to find a red chameleon too.
      In short, there is no red pigment that works well with black atm that I know of.
      But
      Flakes are an alternative
