I have been watching you for a while and wonder how you are not a bigger channel. Your personality and video production standards are so good 👌Great video as usual
Unfortunately this is a dying industry, along with all the other tradition field sports/lifestyle. We are being conditioned as a country to accept the big corporations, look at what happened in Denmark in 2019. The government basically said they were the largest polluters and they cannot use fertilizers and other chemicals. So say it was a ploy to get these long-standing land owners to sell their land (for the government to swipe up). Just look at the hysteria around fox hunting in the UK. I am a fan of traditions and the country way of life, but the city folk have been told that food comes from asda and farmers just want to shoot birds and rip apart foxes for fun. Its really sad to see what's happening but in 30 years I will be surprised if firearms will be accessible to anyone. Farmers will probably have to fill out a form to request the police to dispatch an animal. Madness
After coming across this channel about a year ago, I wanted to see what all the rage was about these Hull cartridges. So after 20 years of shooting, I bought my first Hull slab (Sovereign to be exact), and when I saw the price, I jokingly said “f me, do they come with a new gun!?”. But after my first round, I’m not exaggerating when I say I felt like I’d just bought a new gun. I know they’re expensive, but the confidence they give is priceless, and for me they bring in the results, easily a 15% improvement.
This was BRILLIANT! I handload my own 00 buckshot, #8 birdshot and 325gr breach and I found myself lusting after several of theses cartridges. The level of detail, the types of questions and answers, the tour, the components were all EXTREMELY satisfying...more please!
Great video. I would love to see more Hull cartridges available here in the USA. I believe they are imported but I would not call them widely available. Hull's reputation here is that of a premium load and most who have shot them seem to agree they are in the category of "you get what you pay for.". But finding Hull consistently is a problem. Would love to see a broader push into the US market.
Same as Potato Arms. Its good to see you do these visits and hold excellent conversations with sensible well thought out questions that produce clear understandable to the layman answers. Keep up the excellent work.
Was my go to cartridge for many years until the prices went up and up. Was unwilling to drop down to the cheaper punchy cartridges as my scores suffered. Real shame as I always wanted to buy British. Now shoot Fiocchi which to be fair are phenomenal cartridges and 20% cheaper cartridges for cartridge when compared to Hull. Plus you’ll already find Fiocchi components in Hull so why not go to source. Great Vid as always JC and Sasha.
Once again you have smashed it out of the park with this video John! Unfortunately for me shooting has become very expensive so I don’t get out as much but I use comp x! Keep up the great work
Well done JC & team. Very interesting and informative. It's easy to forget the R&D aspect of ammunition development and rising environmental concerns that we face. It is a great insight to a great British company that is playing it's part in producing some of the best cartridges in the world for a sport that hopefully will continue to grow. Thank you all at Hull for your professionalism and determination to be the best there is. p.s A very merry Christmas and a happy New Year to all!!!
Neat. Pricing more and more folks out of the sport. And then I hear his future plans. Yep, even more of the same. In the guise of "moving forward" of course.
A truly great British company, I've been past the Hull Cartridge Company many times and have always wondered what it was like. They could do with the royal warrant!
I am surprised they do not have the Sentesi packing machine if they are working near the capacity of the Kameleon. Even 4500 per hour is busy for a packing person, hard on the hands and wrists. We are just installing the latest Kameleon in New Zealand. Have three now.
When I was a kid, I remember going past the Hull cartridge factory, on the bus and seeing how massive the building is, I always wondered what it would of looked like inside. Now I know. 👍
Excellent content, as usual. Speaking of polyethylene wads, the plastic one-piece wad was invented in 1958 by Ronald Comerford, an avid trap shooter who was born in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1934 and attended Cleveland's West Technical High School ('West Tech' to us locals) but has spent much of his life in Boardman, Ohio. In 1963, Winchester purchased his one-piece plastic wad Patent for only $50,000. Perhaps he should have held out for more, but (per our government's online 'CPI Inflation Calculator') $50,000 in July 1963 had roughly the buying power equivalent of $498,000 in July this year. Ron claimed it took him only 15 minutes to create the design diagram, and he had a local machinist cut the first single-cavity mold.
I enjoyed seeing where my cartridges are Mead. I have had a back injury so haven't shot in month but I'm shooting Christmas Eve I can't wait, I'll be shooting Hull cartridges
Great film John and Sash, just wish I could shoot more. Wish TGS a great Christmas and a great new new. Keep the films coming and look forward to the next gun review vid.👍👍
With the recent HSE communication on a possible future of a lead shot ban, it would be interesting to see where and what Hull Cartridge need from a customers support base. We do not have a ever ending budget, and neither does the manufacturers. Yes, I completed the consultation.
Hull hydro wad perform very well but 2 years on and left out all year round they still look brand new. How long is it expected to take for them to break down ? I know of one shoot who bans them and treats them as plastic!
That's because it's a bioplastic and their certification isn't evidence it will biodegrade. The EN13432 standard only shows it is suitable for industrial composting, which is very different to sitting in the grass on a hillside... Bioplastics are still plastics, and it's quite misleading the way Hull present the product imo
It is not much of a factory tour, but mostly their product advertisement. Came here to see how cartridges are made. Your Beretta factory tour was excellent.
There is only so much we could show, without breaking UA-cam’s rules or disrespecting Hull’s requests. Was a cool opportunity to learn about them, and we at least got to learn the secrets 😂
Super fast 24grm fibre amazing cartridge, quality, consistent, like my perazzi simply does what it says on the box time and time again. Thank you all at Hull. (It blows my mind how far out they will kill, in my 33" HPX DSR John Jeffrey perazzi 3/4 3/4, 80 yards no issue. Oh it's the only cartridge I have never had a misfire. I have never had a cartridge that has smoked so may clays. I would love to have a super fast cap ❤️👍
I have used Hull loads for years, they are good. However, despite what was said in the video I believe they have changed the specification of the case, which they use for their X Comp loads. I have shot thousands of these loads in 21g and 28g. over several years in my Longthorne sidelock. However, about a year ago after buying a new batch the cartridges kept slipping past the ejector irons on both barrels, which meant I had to use a cleaning rod to push them out. I now use Hull Sorting 100's which work well. without any problems. Any comments Johnny ??
Doing the processes at high accuracy and using the best ingredients are the foundation but very high quality control separates the top tiers producing the best.
When you were at Hull Cartridge didn't you go watch them pour shot in the shot tower? I wnet past a year or two since and saw the little cart being hoisted up.
I would like to see a video comparing 2 guns with the same barrel length, bore, and chokes with the same cartridges but one being 70mm chamber and the other 76mm chamber and see difference in pattern or even pellet speed that the extra empty chamber space makes!
I will say, in the US, the hunting market seemed to die down a bit for a while. I think more people got interested in hunting again after COVID hit but it didn't really seem as popular as when I was a kid before. I grew up deer and squirrel hunting and still do to this day and I do hope to see more people get interested in hunting again. Especially because, when COVID hit, people went out and bought guns like crazy due to lockdowns preventing police response in some areas, so a lot of larger manufacturers that supply the US market focused on the bare bottom in ammo quality and it was difficult to find certain rifle cartridges. Instead of making 30-30, they were using the bullets to make other calibers. My dad deer hunts with a .260 Caliber rifle and, because they use the same bullet in 6.5 Creedmoor, he couldn't find any quality ammo for his deer rifle. Very good video and I like seeing manufacturers still care about quality because, when shortages with COVID hit, a lot of the mainstream manufacturers here cut corners to try and produce more volume. I have a Winchester 9mm round sitting on my desk that the primer was put in the round sideways and is definitely not safe to fire. Frankly, with how the primer is crumpled up sideways, I don't know how it didn't cause an accident in the manufacturing process. So definitely love seeing companies still caring about quality. I don't know if Hull Cartridge company ships or supplies any of the US market but if they are caring about quality, I'm sure someone in the US is caring about quality too.
You bring up some good points about ammunition being hard to find over the last few years. One of the bigger issues outside of timing with Covid is the problems that Remington experienced. The timing for that manufacturer was that the holding company that owned and ran both the firearms as well as ammunition factories was essentially robbing Peter to pay Paul. Ammunition was profitable and brought in much needed operating capital. That money instead of going to maintain the ammunition plant and pay suppliers went into the firearm end of things. Toward the end several suppliers essentially put the ammunition plant on a pre pay basis. Once the company was broken up and the ammunition plant was bought the new owners had a big job so that they could bring the plant back on line producing ammunition. Combine that with greater demand from shooters, LEO, and military for all the ammunition factories and we have a perfect storm leading to shortages.
@Parris George and that perfect storm unfortunately lead to some manufacturers forgetting about quality a bit to focus on producing higher volume. They figured who cares if this ammo isn't as accurate as usual? We just need to produce ammo and that's never a good thing.
Honestly as a person who loves repetition warehousing and simple manufacturing jobs like these are the best. If only New York didn’t ban guns maybe we’d have a beautiful industry going
Hull looks pretty solid. Although I’ve used various European Shells with that new green flake powder, and it’s temperature sensitive. I’m not sure if they’re using it, but if they are be careful taking it from hot to cold and vice versa.
In my late teens I wanted a job with HUll Cartridge testing the product. Never dared to inquire or even hoped a job would be available . I did something better I joined the army. Still didn't get to fire a shotgun though.
Really great video , i heard frome some one who lives in france and he uses hull cartridge that this cartridge are the beast in the world bothe for game and trap but i never trayed this cartridge before because they don't come to my country i live in tunisia, i hop there i get the chance to tray theme some day

just wondering how long till 3.5 inch for steel loads becomes more common and not just wild fowling or someone comes out with a 4" chamber and a 4" cartridge for the higher load of steel
Too bad they aren't more available in Canada. Canadian shotgun shells like Challenger, Score and Imperial are good quality but they don't offer as wide a variety of components.
Looking at the warehouse with all the pallets stacked with ammunition there must be quite a bit of health and safety rules . # no 1 No Smoking. A very interesting video.
Goes without saying in any business i think. If you do your homework you will find out that shot shells ammunition or any civilian ammunition is actually very safe compared to other manufactured products we use in daily life, sans a PHEV motor vehicle or a lap-top computer etc, etc. It is class 1 which puts it at the top of the list but Class 1 is a very diverse group of dangerous goods. You go have a look.
Interesting that Hull appears to have confirmed the rumour that when using Steel you have to match the Cartridge with the chamber length? My guns all have 3’ chambers but I still only shoot 70 & 65 mm cartridges even when using Steel. Am I damaging my guns by doing so?!
I shouldn't think so, if there is an issue i would assume it will be maybe not so good obturation with the shorter length cartridges. It's a learning curve for us all.
Very interesting. Here is the States we haven’t been mandated to go to steel, other than water fowl. And bio wadding is very limited. What a fast adaptation to make this change and stay in business.
I have been watching you for a while and wonder how you are not a bigger channel. Your personality and video production standards are so good 👌Great video as usual
Thankyou ❤️
What's good to some isn't to others. Opposite of the saying: One man's trash is another man's treasure.
111k subs is not exactly a small channel.
Completely agree; really enjoy your shooting videos and especially those with Ed Solomons. Come to Melbourne sometime and shoot Field & Game with us.

I try not to use too many sovereigns a year, or I will become addicted.

9:44 BRILLIANT!
I love all these factory tours and watching Jonny basically be Charlie in the Chocolate Factory 100 times over.
Once visited whilst i had the barrel on my HW100 changed for the version with the "silencer" / UNF thread. Lovely place, great staff.
Same as Potato Arms. Its good to see you do these visits and hold excellent conversations with sensible well thought out questions that produce clear understandable to the layman answers. Keep up the excellent work.

Love that you’ve come to my hometown and shown off one of its few gems ❤️
I love passionate companies like Hull. They are a NJFP organisation. Not Just For Profit.
Another very strong production. Camera, sound, music, editing, and light. Well done.
And again, Jonny, Sash you guys hit it out of the park! Great video love the use of B&W. Great story telling. You guys are the best in the industry!!
Once again you have smashed it out of the park with this video John! Unfortunately for me shooting has become very expensive so I don’t get out as much but I use comp x! Keep up the great work
Factory tours 😍😍😍, miroku factory is my dream, to see actual craftsmen sighting barrels by eye and hand fitting guns

We also have Gamebore Cartridge company in Hull
That was flipping brilliant! More of this stuff
What an incredible video. Honestly. It was done so well.
Neat. Pricing more and more folks out of the sport. And then I hear his future plans. Yep, even more of the same. In the guise of "moving forward" of course.
A truly great British company, I've been past the Hull Cartridge Company many times and have always wondered what it was like. They could do with the royal warrant!
What a great insight to the Hull factory. Thanks Jonny 👍
I worked at Eley Hawk for years, On BSN loading and Sintesi packing machines so I found that an interesting watch. Thanks for the tour.
I am surprised they do not have the Sentesi packing machine if they are working near the capacity of the Kameleon. Even 4500 per hour is busy for a packing person, hard on the hands and wrists. We are just installing the latest Kameleon in New Zealand. Have three now.
Looks like a solid company, good on them for their forward looking management. I can understand Hull cartridge having a very committed customer base.
I just finished watching your "Hull Cartridge" offering. One of your best videos! Happy Holidays!
It's a shame we can't get Hull cartridges in the States
When I was a kid, I remember going past the Hull cartridge factory, on the bus and seeing how massive the building is, I always wondered what it would of looked like inside. Now I know. 👍
Love my Sporting 100 7.5 28g Fibre cartridges. My go to on the clay ground.

well done all involved, another high quality video out of the top draw congratulations
Just used some pro fibre and I’m now thinking of switching to hull after years using gamebore 👍👍
Pro fibre are the one!
This man definitely supplies the Kingsman
I wish Hull could export into the U.S. Sounds like a cool company to try out and support.

Hull..lads and lassies..leading the way...
Hello TGS, a very interesting video. Looking forward to see what the next year will bring.
It's a banger brewery!!!!
God Bless Mr Hull Cartridge ❤
A great education. Fabulous: thank you
Hull looks pretty solid. Although I’ve used various European Shells with that new green flake powder, and it’s temperature sensitive. I’m not sure if they’re using it, but if they are be careful taking it from hot to cold and vice versa.
Cracking video chaps, great watch and brilliant production
In my late teens I wanted a job with HUll Cartridge testing the product. Never dared to inquire or even hoped a job would be available . I did something better I joined the army. Still didn't get to fire a shotgun though.
We also have Gamebore Cartridge company in Hull too.
Merry Christmas TGS hope everyone has a great Holiday.
And to you too
Wow. I love it.
That was a awesome tour
Great video from across the pond...
GREAT VIDEO!!!!!!! BRAVO!!!!!!!
Great film. Just needed some Chris!
Everything needs more Chris
Really great video , i heard frome some one who lives in france and he uses hull cartridge that this cartridge are the beast in the world bothe for game and trap but i never trayed this cartridge before because they don't come to my country i live in tunisia, i hop there i get the chance to tray theme some day
Please could you do an Eley factory tour?
Absolutely brilliant. 👏👏Thoroughly enjoyable.
Interesting watch this one very enjoyable 👏
Thank you 😊
Was a very cool place
Lol. I love that they use so many imperial units.
Can Hull come to France and sell their product here please? We need better supply and more choice. I have the contacts and knowledge of this market, maybe we can get them over here.
Been watching this channel for probably near 5 years now. Quality has increased by no end. Any chance of a Gamebore tour? I use both soverign parcour 6.5 and black golds so it would be nice to see how Gamebore do it. Although i understand you have good ties with Hull so i know this may not be possible for the same reason reviewing the Krieghoff factory would be tricky with Longthorne being so close with you.
Would love to look inside Krieghoff one day, but as you say, it may never happen
its a thumbs up from me JC!👍
I moved to Hull from Eley in 2020 and haven’t looked back, they are cleaner and so consistent. Pro Comp 24g fibre is my cartridge of choice now. As I use less in the field I treat myself to the Sovereigns 😂
Great video as usual, well done gents.
Brilliant! Love your channel!
What a truly excellent presentation! You need to grab a pallet of Hull cartridges and come to California for a clay-shooting tour. We have plenty of high-quality clay ranges. I have never seen Hull cartridges for sale here (Kents, occasionally.). Perry Pappous, Southern California, USA.
A container load or two in the USA would make me and a lot of other very happy!
Great Video, at the end you talked about the 28 bore and lack of any non toxic loads. I load all my owe shell and been experimenting with TSS. its not cheap but what it gives is a mush more superior shell, lighter loads with fantastic down range kills. take a look on you tube no9s 20 gram load kills out to 45 to 50 yards.
Alan Robinson
I just hope we can keep lead in sizes 8 and smaller, just like in fishing. So clay shooting at least should be safe. No idea what's going to happen with pigeon/crow
How long you have to work for one box of them in UK? Middle and high ones? You can type in minutes.
just wondering how long till 3.5 inch for steel loads becomes more common and not just wild fowling or someone comes out with a 4" chamber and a 4" cartridge for the higher load of steel
excellent!!!
Wish Hull cartridges were available here in Texas
Hi Did Rio get their loading plant set up in Texas?
Excellent content, more please 🙏
Too bad they aren't more available in Canada. Canadian shotgun shells like Challenger, Score and Imperial are good quality but they don't offer as wide a variety of components.
Well done. Get some to theUS
So will we be getting interchangeable chambers to go with the chokes to make guns more versatile?
Unlikely, It's more likely the "standard" chamber size will be bigger and become the new norm due to the decreased density of steel.
What components do they actually manufacture or is everything outsourced and they assemble?
Such a shame, we used to be able to get Hull in Ireland but they are not available now.
Looking at the warehouse with all the pallets stacked with ammunition there must be quite a bit of health and safety rules . # no 1 No Smoking. A very interesting video.

Hoi Johnny, keep on dusting Clays. Do you know the length between the first pellets and the last pellets after 30 meters in the air. Karel Belgium
Great content. Please make Hull readily available for me. USA.
Hey Santa Jonny 🧑🎄: All I want for Christmas is a case of Hull cartridges 😀. I’ll send you my name and address. 😂😂
Pretty interesting video.
It's a learning curve for us all.
wow , great vid , and whats better its a British company
Great episode, again. I use a Hull Cartridge made bespoke brand and noticed bespoke brands like "crazy 8" I think. What is the recipe of these?
Barbury have a 24gram load based on a inter comp but slightly beefed up. Cracking load
Top notch as usual but it's hard to get interested in ammo that's not even available in the U.S.A.
Do you know if there are any plans to bring Hull cartridges to the States?
🤞🏼
Very interesting. Here is the States we haven’t been mandated to go to steel, other than water fowl. And bio wadding is very limited. What a fast adaptation to make this change and stay in business.
Out here in California we have. Besides target practice we have to use steel
@@matthewsmith5394 you all are still allowed to own firearms in California?
