I'm dying! Dude we are all the same! Every painter including myself all have very similar appearances and character. And we are always doing these brush comparisons.. I've been using Picasso's for a year now.. switched from Wooster and been trying to stay away purdy these days (except their black bristles) because they don't last more than a couple times of use. I haven't used coronas yet because of price but found a plug with a good price so I have been debating this for a little while... Thank you boys for the video definitely helped this painter 👍🏻 have a good one guys!
Like you said it works great with thinner paints. I personally use proclassic alot for interior trimwork and I absolutely love it!!! For my interior walls I use the Wooster alpha and my exterior is the 3.5 gold edge angled semi oval brush. I have a lot of brushes (I have a problem) but I love to have the right brush for the right application.
I have no problems cutting in latex wall paint with a Corona 3" Denver (I use the side of the brush cutting in) ..... works great , very nice straight lines ..... and yes , I add a bit of water and Floetrol of course , but not a lot ...... I know corona sure cleans up well and stays true much better ..... my purdys get ragged too quickly , corona's don't do that
"I have a lot of brushes (I have a problem)" .... lol .... I know what you mean .... I have 20 damn good brushes in excellent condition .... Yesterday , I bought a new brush !!!!!! What the hell is wrong with us ??????? lol
Corona Brushes are the best. Been using them for many years. Tynex/Orel. Tynex/Nylon. Chinex. Use them all depending on what I'm doing. I wanna say the 3" Cody Tynex/Orel is my Favorite. 👍
Love watching your videos. I have been a painter for 21 years now. I only use corona brushes for the last 16 years. I havent found a better brush than the Corona Excaliber for latex. And i only use Corona oil brushes as well. I use woosters and purdys as throw away brushes.
Try a Corona Cortez. Much better than those. I had a fairly new one dry up for about 3 weeks. I put it in really hot water multiple times then beat it up with a wire brush and it came back almost brand new. I ♡ Corona Cortez brushes. The ONLY brush I will use
I wish the corona red gold brushes had a wee bit longer bristle. But an excellent brush. I find the FTP brushes are also excellent, but again, I think the bristles are a little short The purdy xl elite is excellent for cutting in. Generally I think chinex is too stiff for interior trim work. The Wooster ultra pro is a good choice for trim especially in Advance. But not an easy cleaning brush
Man the purdy glides that our local s.w.'s have been getting for the last few months are trash!! They cut great the first few times then seem to get too stiff and starts to fray. I miss the good ol days when purdy was a good brush for it's price point.. their contractor series brushes that are almost 10$ cheaper last longer! And believe me we definitely put some gallons down on our brushes!
Have you ever used a hockey stick paint brush? If so what do you think of them? Since I'm a little shorter I always have to use a step stool the hockey stick brush eliminates my step stool on most jobs
the corona tynex for brushing trim is really good. corona chinex are good for everything trim as well. coronas are the best all around brushes. they last way longer than purdy. I will go through 5 purdy chinex before 1 corona easily
Corona brushes are the best on the American market. The build quality and durability are the best. Tynex (nylon) are soft bristled. We use them really only for semi-gloss, gloss trim paint. That is where they excel. The Orel/Tynex is the Polyester/Nylon brush. This is the most versatile cut brush. Chinex is Dupont proprietary filament so they are same all across the board amongst brush manufacturers. Corona just has higher count and their filament profile is different. Wooster brushes not being tapered like Corona has fantastic sharp cut lines. Their bristles are seated well, but I find the bristles themselves are easily deformed after multiple uses. I love their maple wood handles though, very very comfortable in my hands. Purdy are the worst of the three. Their taper is uneven and favored on one side. The brush fingers and spreads apart while cutting. Their nylox brush is worst of all and even sheds bristles. The best amongst Purdy's lineup is the clearcut followed by the XL. Where I work they use Purdy, mostly. That said, give me any of these brushes and I will paint well- meaning they are all pretty good.
I'm with John I picked up the chinex FTP a couple weeks ago and I absolutely love it I the first one I had was the Wooster Pro chinex so I thought I would try the FTP and it just blows the other one away
i never used one, but i held one, it felt amazing and i went on their website to find out more, but their site is very poorly made and gives you no information on each brushes use or intention.
that is true , they even clean up better than Purdy's , and the filament stays true better ..... Those damn Purdys get whacked out too easily ..... My Coronas have stayed true for a long long time ..... I love 'em .... but now and then I'll get out a Purdy , but for the most part , Corona all the way
I use the Vegas as strictly a trim and door brush. Pretty much identical to Elder & Jenks Gen Y brush. Way too soft for cutting in IMO. I can get trims and doors to look like they’re sprayed depending on the trim paint being used. Usually using waterborne alkyds or enamels so I can’t give the brush all the credit but it does have a gentle layoff. I use Excalibur chinex for cutting in. Again pretty much identical to Elder & Jenks Gen X. All of these brushes are better than anything Purdy has to offer but again that’s just my personal opinion and it would be a very dull world if we all liked the same things. Great review. My Titan Flexspray came in yesterday’s mail so I’ll be watching those videos again soon.
Hi was hoping you could take a second and answer a question for me. Do professionals like yourself use any of those cut in attachments for a paint sprayer you know the ones that look like a Pizza cutter and if so which one I know I've seen a lot of negative commens on some
Home Improvement How To's . I was a coach painter when I started at 15. So brushes were really important. We had to brush paint panels 8ft high and 20ft long on the side of lorries. One person on the top, one on the bottom.
What all around paintbrush would you recommend? Mainly for interior and for painting my own house? Love all the videos. I’m currently using a 2.5in angled purdy XL but am wondering if there’s something better.
Home Improvement TV I saw on your Kit.com page you really like the Corona Excalibur Chinex as well. I saw these in the store and also saw a corona Pearl Chinex is this the same brush just a different handle as the Excalibur
The Corona is the best brush I've ever used. But I prefer a beaver tail handle: always have. I also do cut ins with a straight cut 4" brush and will challenge any painter with my speed and accuracy - just sayin' - I've been at it for over fifty years.

If you could get your hands on a Kelly-Moore red line.. i have tried all the brushes you had and thats one of my favorites Kelly-Moore red or blue are really nice for the price
I didn't like the Wooster Alpha at all, but then I prefer soft to stiff even for cutting in. Corona makes my favorite that I've tried so far. They're the only ones I have found where I don't have to look at 4 of them to find 1 good one at the store.
You guys have a chance to try the Corona Cortez brush yet? Looks like it is supposed to be between the Excalibur and Vegas in terms of stiffness. Sadly for me, I can only get the Excalibur and Vegas locally.
Corona's a damn good brush , about the only thing I have not liked is a couple of my brushes got a small crack in the wood where the nail attaches the ferrule , but as far as the brush goes , my favorite is the Corona 3" Denver
