Good morning Chris and Family, thanks for the autographed photos of you and your daughter. I ordered the Premiere brushes Riverdale, Montauk and Hampton from you and did receive them in perfect condition, excellent packing job. I am really shocked at how well the brushes feel and look, these brushes will probably become my number one go to out side of my Proform Technologies Picasso brushes, Purdy and Wooster have been pushed to the back of the line. Thanks for this very informative video and sharing your trade with everyone.

I have used a lot of brushes, and alot of them are dang near identical. Ultimately, with my prices at SW, I run what they have. I like the Purdy brushes. Seems we are doing more and more latex. I like the way the clearcut elite puts down a good amount of material, but without being sloppy. I get a real good cut. It's stiff, but not overly stiff, and bends back perfectly. I use a 3 inch mainly and I like the way it fits my hand and gives me control. I hold the ferulle when I paint. Others may be different. I use the handle to sling, slop and clean.
Really I like a lot of the Purdy offerings. The Purdy XL has been another go to brush for quite some time. Also have an array of other sizes and styles. Some used much more than others. I also use a little nylox quite a bit. Also have several black bristle adjutants that give a nice finish when using oil.
I honestly can't keep up with all the names. May be better alternatives out there. I do a whole lot of business with SW, so in my case at least I have Good prices. Good brushes, and I know what I'm getting every time. Alot of painters say "Purdy really went downhill since SW bought them out." Of course meanwhile, they're buying pretty much the exact brush. Most good quality brushes in this price range are built similarly and most use dupont filaments.
Anyway.... That's just my take on it.
I haven't used one, but the premier brushes look pretty good. May have to try one out sometime.
Thanks Chris for the content. God bless 👊

Hey man, just found your channel and I'm glad to see an intelligent painter. Loved this video, glad you exposed the gimmick "stinger" brush. Ya cant reinvent the wheel, right? The Lucus brush is beautiful and I might try one. Personally I prefer a stiff brush. I know painters that prefer really soft brushes. Ok, I live in Memphis and started painting as an apprentice for a commercial/industrial painting company. I was taught by the book, though I was surprised that there was a book, but there is. I'm so glad I learned from a company that was about quality. I was taught to cut in with a big block 3" brush. I mean everything we painted no matter how big or small, you only had one brush. You would catch hell if you bought a thin body brush, yelled at if you were caught painting with anything smaller than a 3" brush. Before you were hired, the superintendent would want to see your hands tools. If there was a sash or angled brush in your bag, your application was tossed in the garbage. When I went out on my own, I didn't allow angled brushes. Most guys were perplexed as to why. I found that painters that weren't from the south used angled brushes. What are your thoughts? Do you think an angled brush is better? Have you used both and found more success with and angled brush or what?

I'm a DYI kind of guy with a fair amount of construction experience and know how and do all my projects around the house myself, whether it's painting sheetrocking, electrical, plumbing, etc. I'm in no way a pro painter, so I've had very little luck at successfully cuting in. I gave the Stinger brush a shot this week and have to say, I had much better success with it than any other brush I've tried. Granted, all the brushes I've tried were before I saw this video. While the stinger was a success, I may try the Premier montauk brush for my many future projects. Thanks for the video!

Good video - you definitely appear to be a pro painter, good info even though I've never heard of these paint brushes. But, Wooster Ultra-Pro and their Alpha work really well for me. With Purdy, not so good as these are the brushes I have been using. I just can't get Purdy's to work the way the Wooster does. Not sure why, maybe its just to me, The Purdy leaves more brush marks that I have to go back over. Even the cheaper Wooster Soft tip is a good brush for me, but I'm not a pro painter painting every day and I would think good pro's don't use this cheapy brush but I would recommend it but its heavy

I've been painting for close to 10 years now and here's what I've found...for anyone who cares.
    Interior
Purdy pinks for doors. Coverage is great. If you have to roll and brush cabinet carcasses, they also work real well for that.
I like Purdy browns for ceiling cuts but Corona Tynex is really good as well. Browns hold more paint, in my opinion.
Corona Tynex for trim that isn't being sprayed.
Corona China bristle brushes are freaking amazing. Haven't used another since since my first day finding them.
    Exterior
Corona Chinex for fascia and trim. Wow, what a brush. Purdy blues are also an excellent choice.
If you back brush homes (most people don't) use a Corona or a Purdy pink to smooth out the paint so it doesn't leave deep brush Mark's.
I love the Corona Tynex 1.5" angle sash for window details. It's stiff and smooth at the same time.
I have not used a Wooster brush in the entire time I've been painting that I have been impressed with. Maybe I'm missing something or the places I've been don't sell their better brushes but they seem cheap to me. I've used Primier once or twice but I haven't used them enough to have an opinion.
I love your channel man. It's really cool to hear what you say and read the comments. PAINT LIFE MAFIA!

Please advise. I am an artist who paints with acrylic( water based paint looking for a more durable paint brush. Many artist acrylic brushes are very vague about what the bristles are made of. “Synthetic” is the best description I get. So I am looking to find different wider brushes the can be used for different purposes. Smooth application, blending or scubbling. Scubbling is not a problem as most old brushes will work. But smooth blending without streaking is an issue. Can you make some recommendations? Thanks

I used that brush for the first time today. It's a 2 1/2" angled brush. I'm interested to see what you think of it. I'm applying Benjamin Moore Regal Select H 190 Black in Pearl finish over a white primed fiberglass door as well as previously finished Andersen 400 windows with their sashes, jambs and casings. I'm surprised! It's as smooth, if not smoother than my Wooster Chinex or Ultra Pro brushes or the Purdy sash brushes that I own. It covered as good as could be expected for black over white but it didn't produce any heavy brush lines. It held and released paint well and cleaned to like new.

I did think that spiderman brush looked too much of a gimmick . I'll try one of those Premier brushes though they do look decent , i've been using a 3" Wooster FTP chinex for a few months on interiors and the filaments and ferrule still look new , only the handle is a giveaway that it's not a new brush , they really do clean up brilliantly. I used to like Arroworthy Finultra brushes but found the filaments wore down too quicky , they cut in a dream though when new.

When You bought that Lucas Brush did they ask You if You have a Brother? For $125 bucks you can buy seven or eight 2-1/2" brushes so yeah I reckon they will replace the bristles see that's how you've already bought seven or eight of them when you bought one. If you want a 3-inch brush that holds a ton of paint try a Bestt-Liebco 3" Oval Brush. They're DuPont Tynex Nylon/Orel Polyester Blended Bristles. These particular oval 3in brushes that I'm speaking of are straight brushes not angled, they're egg shaped. They have the longest bristles of any 3" brush I've ever seen and they have more bristles of any 3" inch brush I've ever seen they work just like any other three inch flat brush that you'll get except being oval in the center they're much thicker which accounts for them having many more bristles. They have stainless ferrules and the handles are made of Beach. They're stained and then finished with satin polyurethane, really nice. is the heaviest 3 special ever put in your hand they feel like they weigh 5 lbs (I'm exaggerating a little) that's because I have so many damn bristles in them. The bristles are about an inch longer than any brush that I've seen extremely long wearing. would you have fairly short bristles you do have better control with them but it doesn't take long before the rush warriors down the begins to feel stubby. With really low bristles like these it takes you a little bit of time to get used to the controlling them but what you get it down you can go a country mile with one dip of the brush. I had one for years and never wore it out. I eventually lost somewhere and couldn't find another one. They are by far the longest lasting brush I've ever owned. Another really long bristled 3 inch brush that holds a lot of paint is a Purdy XL Titian. These are full stock Brushes with 4 rows of bristles in them. Purdy XL Titian's come in a 4" size also. The Purdy XL Swan has 3 rows of bristles with a square ferrule. These are my favourite in the 3-1/2" size for 6 panel doors and exterior trim except windows. They're great for siding and cutting in interior walls too. Try a Purdy DuPont Syntox (synthetic 🐂 ox hair). These are the finest grade of synthetic bristles made, great for laying on a mirror smooth finish (especially with thin paint) on cabinets, furniture, etc. You can use Syntox with Oil Base Paint and/or Varnish also. I still like the Wooster 3" or 2-1/2" Yachtsman White China Bristle for solvent (oil) base finishes, especially oil/alcohol base stain. Synthetic bristles will not work for stain. The little 2-1/2" Wooster white China Bristle Brushes with the pencil handle Brushes are great too but the 3" version of this brush has much shorter bristles (don't know why). They feel way too stubby right out of the gate. Hope this helps You.

@@Idahopainter Awhile back you had a video about power washing. I posted a rather lengthy reply not realizing this video was a year or more old. My reply was about a product called an X jet. This product is manufactured here in North Carolina in the research triangle Park. When you get it all rigged up for the first time you can have a designated line specifically for this xjet. this way you don't have to rig and under to get every time you need to wash a house. What you do with this is you have your set up rig up and you can wash a 5000 or larger square foot two-story house standing on the ground. It shoots water 40 or 50 foot high in the air depending on the size of the power washer you have. When I had my big 3500 PSI 4 gallon per minute Graco washer that was belt driven it would shoot bleach and water 55 feet straight up into the air like a fire hose. The most I've ever had to do was climb a few rungs up on a step ladder to spray the very peak of a Gable on a tall house. I couldn't quite reach all the way to the peak in the center of the Gable. You can't imagine how much time you can save when you can wash a house standing on the ground without ever having to climb or use one of those really long extension wands. just imagine being able to stand flat-footed on the ground and blast one or two stories tall in the air like you have a fire hose in your hand and then you will get some idea how fast you can wash your house. If all I have to do is watch the house itself the driveways sidewalks and decks I can wash a 5000 square foot house in about an hour. It is so easy and so fast I can't even begin to tell you. If you use an X jet once you will never wash your house will that it again. This is the equivalent of you driving a Ford pinto with manual brakes and manual steering 3 speeds on the column I'm switching up to a chauffeur-driven Rolls-Royce limousine. if you want to know more about this I can give you a much better description talkin to you over the phone this product will save you so much time and money it would pay for itself halfway through your first job. The last one I bought was $175 and that was about 10 years ago even if they're $250 now or $500 they're still worth it. I've been out there more than about 200 or 250 they made me the same price or they could have come down because they were just starting to get more prevalent when I got mine that was my second one that I had bought. My phone number is:
      (910)-818-3279
      My email address is:

Feel free to call me anytime 24/7/365 and 366 on leap year!!
If you don't own an X jet you need one 5 years ago. as I said it would be much easier for me to explain it to you over the phone rather than try to type it out and you trying to talk back and forth to me why typing stuff is just so much simpler to talk to a live person especially when you're trying to describe something to them if you want to know more about this xjet in the way I rigged it up feel free to call me at the number I have posted. If you do not get me please leave me a text and I will return your call. Best wishes in all your endeavors.
God Bless 🙏😇 Y'all and Your Families
