Wife: “Why are you watching this?”
Me: “I’m learning about purfling.”
Wife: “What in the world is that?”
Me: “Shhh...Monty is telling us.”
Keep ‘em coming sir, quite the journey. Almost there.
Be careful...it's cold outside.
Those Purflings are really gonna make this guitar POP!
Man I hope so.
Good one Monty. You should try it in the next vid.
I’ve always been so curious about binding, so thanks for explaining it! It’s one of my favorite details on a guitar.
Mine as well and it is difficult to do.
thank you
Hi Monty, welcome back.
When I was a teenager I had a left handed light switch. The switch was on the door frame and my bed was in the opposite corner. So I rigged up a set of strings and pulleys so I could turn it on or off from my bed. Pull the string on the left side to turn it off, pull the right side to turn it on. Then I did the same thing for the door.
Now I think about it, that makes it ambidextrous.
Love your content! 😊
thank you.
Your shaking hand is just the good Lord's way of making you unique. And through your uniqueness you show us how to be successful with our work with our uniqueness. The work you are doing is precision work and takes time and dedication to achieve. What I like about building things is that they may last for generations. This guitar you are building may be around for hundreds of years. Good work! Happy new year.
Thank you!
Have a Healthy and Happy New Year Monty!
Nice to see ya, Monty. ✌️
well done sir
Thank you
Happy New Year Monty!
Thank you so much.
Happy new year Mr Monty. I always learn something new about woodworking from you video, so just wanna said thank you to sharing your knowledge with us.😁
thanks for your comment
Why doesn't anyone make a left handed light switch? Between that and a left handed hammer someone is going to make a fortune!!
I guess I could always back into a room in stead of walking into a room. lol
I’m working on my interpretation of the Guild of American Luthiers Ted Davis drawings of a 1-18 and I’m trying to figure out what I want to use for purfling and binding. I have a bunch of maple, rosewood, walnut and cherry veneer. I want to make my own purflings. Good video.
That Light Switch problem is not a thing in the ambidextrous community XD
Oh that';s a good one! lol
Happy New Year, Monty! Routing binding channels is my least favorite part of the build. I'm at this point on my second build and I'm forever breaking bindings and purflings and routing too deep. I can't wait to see how you do it.
It is tricky for sure.
As to the shaking; It's going to depend on what the vice is secured to, but I love your response. It is what it is. Just for heaven's sake keep the tea in that right hand. By the way, get some tea company to sponsor you! You've already got me drinking more Earl Grey!
Doesn't seem to be any interest in sponsoring my tea habit. lol
thanks for the video, what glue do you use that survives the heat bending process?
Titebond.
Happy new year
...and to you as well!
What glue to you find holds under heat bending?
I use titebond. Seems to work.
Love your vedio's but what happened to Pete's angle/advise😂😂
I changed it temporarily because of the visa on the end of the bench. You'll see why in another upcoming video.
@@MontyMcKinnon thanks you, can't wait!!!
