I love this video idea! I feel like reading books and loving them marks where you are mentally in time and revisiting those books helps you get back into the mindset you used to be in. I’m glad you still loved a few of these 😊

So I work at a bookstore and Paper Princess is definitely Teen Fiction, that's just how they categorize it ig, it baffled me too when I saw that. I'm pretty sure they only label it that way because they are all highschool age. You'd be surprised at what you can find in the YA section lol

Yeah, the whole “I bought an empty seat” thing doesn’t work irl either, because you’re not actually buying a seat, you’re buying transportation. If they have a person who needs a seat they will sit someone in the empty one, and you won’t be reimbursed. Also, don’t think that you can get away with bringing your three-year-old on without a ticket, they will make you buy one, and if there isn’t a seat for them, you’re not getting on the flight. People are always trying to trick the system and then get mad at the people *doing their job* instead of themselves.

I read Kulti last year and I gave it 5 stars. It was my second Mariana Zapata. I agree that it could have been trimmed but I find her books compulsively readable regardless of the length. I love that she lets you really experience and live in the mutual pining that's inherent in a slow-burn romance. I went through almost her entire backlog last year but my favorite remains All Rhodes Lead Here. I think she nailed it with that book.

Paper Princess has been turned into an audioseries on Spotify (called The Royals of Malibu)! The first three episodes came out yesterday and I've been listening but had not taken a second to look up the original book! I had a whole wait-a-damn-minute moment when you were describing the plot before realizing it was the same story! The narration has been fun to listen to and now I am SUPER curious how true to the book they will be. Would love to hear your thoughts on the series and how it compares to the book if you end up listening :D

So back in 2012 era when Slammed released and it blew up, the series got picked up by a publisher, and they didn't bother to do much editing. So now in 2023, she can't go back and edit her backlist unless the publisher requests it. I was around in 2013 and remember everyone going nuts over this series and just saw another BookTuber reading Slammed for the first time and very much disliked the student/teacher aspect, so it's always interesting to see others' opinions on older NA romance books.

I loved this vlog and love this idea❤ it’s so interesting to go back and see what the “hottest/best” books in years passed were and compare and see what language and trends and plots were popular. Also what problematic things were brought up and how the book deals with it and whether that book would even be published today. Just adore chandlers uploads.
“Sick lit” is a new term I’d never heard before and gotta say it ain’t for me😷 I like the whole nurse me back to health situation in some cute romances 💓 but never liked fault in our stars, my sisters keeper, those kids books just aren’t for me.

I’m really not tracking at all with your thoughts on Fighting Silence. It’s much better than I think you’re picking up and I just need to say that for people who see this because it’s a damn travesty for people who haven’t read it to hear this and maybe not try it.
Also, it was one of the most unique stories for the time it was written because of his disability and what that brings.
It had zero to do with him not wanting to complicate things with a relationship… he didn’t feel worthy of it and he wasn’t able to believe that it would last because of his life experience. That’s what the whole only coming in through the window thing was showing.
Also… book 3 in this series is the best.
