Thanks for watching!! I don't know about you, but each time rewatch these episodes, they keep getting better and better! I think I would bump this one up to an 8.5 or 9 with the rewatches. What was your favourite part of the episode? The Perrin + Aviendha fight has to be it for me! Let me know in the comments below!
Great episode! I love Avienda! The fight was awesome. I can’t imagine how crazy larger battles including the Aiel will be! I really like the tel’aran’rhiod lanfear/ishy meeting, too. Ooh, and Sherlock Verin! Good stuff. Like the books on rereads, the episodes are even better on rewatch.
Seeing Aviendha was everything. My 17 year old daughter’s name is Aviendha…. I’m obviously a fan. We chose her name before she was born. She was born with red hair and green eyes. Both a rarity on each side of her family. Manifestation I say.
Yeah i have actually seen book readers take issue with Ishy planting the Eye of the World bait in the show that that never happened in the books. I'm like what? He absolutely did exactly that in the books, he just used Jain Farstrider to deliver it not Suian. Im a 30 year book reader and while i haven't agreed with or liked everything they have done (rip Uno) I've been pleasantly surprised with how they have tackled other things. I am trying to be open minded and i certainly don't go into every episode hating only looking for more to hate on like far too many do. Not that I'm not surprised though as i absolutely remember the irrational hate Sanderson got finishing the series. Always happy to see the reaction of a feloow book reader who is also keeping an open mind and trying to enjoy the show for what it is. Good stuff!
Thanks for watching! For sure, it is a deep cut to get Ishy's bait- they don't understand it is until later. I will say, in the books it comes from multiple sources that leads Moiraine to say let's go to the eye. I think having that vs just Siuan having a dream when she isn't a dreamer would have been nice (but not necessary given time constraints). And season 2 is making it easier to have an open mind haha
If Lanfear comes to an empty barn she doesn't know where they went, if they are horses or are they walking etc. If Lanfear comes to a barn with a horse that has obviously just been killed she knows they took horses, killed one to deny her and are heading down the road since they are on horses. Killing the horse is part of the plan to get her to follow them.
The way TP works shouldn't be identical to how OP heals, something has got to be special about it. So I think TP heals by breaking the natural laws of the patter, it heals by reversing the effects of time.
I heard that- I feel like I could find the 76 seconds to get a new intro haha, or run the credits with it or something All good though, I just figured we would be getting something cool with it!
Also a long time reader with multiple re-reads over the years. For me s2 has gradually improved and E5 was really enjoyable TV. I do wonder how much of it makes sense to non-readers however as so much lore was dropped in the last episode. Until e5 i wasnt buying lanfear at all...but this episode completely sold me on her. Love the portrayal of Aviendha already! i completely geeked out when she asked perrin if he liked to dance :) You have a new sub and look forward to more reactions. BTW did you spot perrin trying to protect her? :)
Thanks very much for watching! I did spot him, hilarious when she walked around him laughing. If you would like to watch some non-reader reactions for season 2, I keep a playlist on my channel up to date with several channels- ua-cam.com/play/PLiTHHwQOUdxCU0Xt8Ic_w6nA0rM3I29jz.html&si=ApP4bkXAUllEIrCh
I can't figure out how the show will be introducing a few weeks time between Ep5 to 8. That time is needed for Rand to learn to channel better, Nynaeve to learn to channel on demand by getting angry on demand. I guess Min and Mat could be spending that time travelling, while Nynaeve and Elayne could be snooping around in Falme, but Perrin is so close already, I can't figure out what he will be filling in his time with that delays him getting to Falme.
The timeliness are a bit wonky in the show, or at least hard to understand. I think we will have Perrin and Avi look for their friends, find that they are captured and then get chased away- we will then have Avi introduce other Aiel to help. Nyn still has here block, so as long as she can get angry and do some things thst will be good Rand doesn't really need to channel great- I am more worried about him not sword fighting at all at this point lol
I agree, but she also did not know the area she was traveling from, which we know is important. The real question is why didn’t she skim in short jumps down the road to catch up with them?
@@laceymurphy9064 same reason as mentioned above, she'd have to know exactly where she was skimming to. Roads don't go in a straight line, so if she tried to skim even one mile north, she'd most likely end up in the middle of the forest with no bearings and even less idea whether Rand and Moiraine are ahead or behind.
The fan-enemy Rafe wrote a hate you letter to Robert Jordan and the source material rather than an adaptation. Season 2 is barely better. It already has wasted time on non book plots for far too long. And really messed up the storyline having the Mat, Perrin, and Rand not together to chase down the horn. Rafe cannot help himself to mess this up and his worst possible choice keeps paying dividends, the aging up of the cast and stripping the innocence from them. This was a coming of age story by Jordan. Also Mat is a friend betraying broken loser under Rafe instead of our loyal prankster turned hero. If Rafe can ignore his killing of Loial, Uno, and Ingtar in 1-8 why not ignore his fubaring of Mat? But no, cannot do that. The Lanfear casting is not that great nor lore accurate. Se is supposed to be the literal most attractive woman on the planet. Rafe's characterization of Lanfear is wrong. She turned to the dark for power and discovered anew power source and opened it not purely because of Lewis Therin spurning her. She also would have not entered a horse chase but rather went to their dreams in the flesh and exited the dream near them, compulsion of people to track them down, compulsion on them or nearby people in their sleep, skimmed ahead of them, or even traveled ahead of them using line of sight portals. And having Lanfear sleep with Rand, just another big mistake. Rand never did that in the books as this incarnation had learned from his prior mistakes.
Hey, if you don't like it- I get it, not what you are looking for. It's never going to be book accurate at this point- most likely never was going to be under any helm. EF4 are 20, they are 19 in the books They did change Mat alot, but Mat wasn't a loyal prankster. He told Rand to go away when he learned he could channel, and wasn't until after the flicker that he started acting better. In TSR, he spends most of his time trying to leave Rand but keeps getting sucked back in by Ta'verenness. I suspect any casting any LF casting would not satisfy your imagined person... but the actress who is playing lanfear is doing a fantastic job IMO She didn't turn to the Dark to get a new power, she wanted the power and released it, she wasn't turned to the Dark at that point. She did later... "Her reasons were partly due to the power she would receive from the Shadow, and partly because she wished to have Lews Therin once again." (From wot Fandom wiki) Rand didn't sleep with Lanfear because of his TR morals. Maybe there is an argument because LTT was already influencing his decisions at that point, but there is no evidence to that. Anyways, happy to discuss more- but worth looking up some of the things you disagree with as well
So many book fans keep on moaning about no Mat and Min, I mean if they have read the books, then they should know that RJ didn't always focus on the main characters all the time in the books! With the amount of characters he created, he could not possibly tell their stories all the time! The show is already starting to bring us so many characters, so like the books, they cannot be in all the episodes when Amazon only give them a run of 8 episodes, I am sure Mat and Min will get more screen time soon, especially Mat, bearing in mind how the Great Hunt ends ... it may be we get a lot more Mat in Season 3 and less of others! I mean we know that Perrin is going to be a big focus in Season 3 ...
I agree, but we are talking about condensing 14 + 1extremely long books down to 8 seasons with 8 hours each. Mat has 25% of the PoV in book 3, and is a constant figure in book 2- I think some more time allocation is warranted. As you say, see how the next 3 episodes go- but he hasn't gotten much agency at all this season, and considering they had to leave him out in s1 e7/8, it is a bit disappointing.

Could very well be- but I assume she would just follow them anyways, and if she went the wrong way- then it works out in either case.
The way TP works shouldn't be identical to how OP heals, something has got to be special about it. So I think TP heals by breaking the natural laws of the patter, it heals by reversing the effects of time.
That was my thought as well, similar to balefire in someway
Rafe said they omitted the opening sequence because they were given a total time and decided that people would prefer more show.
I heard that- I feel like I could find the 76 seconds to get a new intro haha, or run the credits with it or something

In the books there is a more than 100 day time jump between two chapters so probably a good chance they do something like that.
I was assuming Lanfear didnt travel, because she didnt know where exactly Moraine and Rand were going. So she had to follow their trails
I think that makes the most sense as well- in either case she would have caught up to them because they dipped off the road
I agree, but she also did not know the area she was traveling from, which we know is important. The real question is why didn’t she skim in short jumps down the road to catch up with them?

lol no Labfear cleaned the shirt, in the book Girls do that all the time cleaning and drying their clothes with one power ...
Like 99% sure, there is a hole in the shirt from when Moiraine stabs here and it get sealed! She could have stitched it with the one power haha
