The higher you lay the more tendency you have to lay away from the line, & can put a roll in the wall. Either only lay so high before you raise , or come back with level ...plumbing & straight edging to make sure things are good.
When brickies lay too much bed they tend to rub the inside(back) of the brick to get it down to the line easier. As they go higher the weight will fall on the back and your wall will lean in.
