I think New Jack Swing is one of the most underrated genres of music
peace; Yes indeed Brotha
Forreal indeed
It was the identity of the late 80s 90s.
Underrated? Everyone knows that the NJS was one of the greatest eras in musical history.
It's not underrated.
Immediately started singing "Let's Chill..let's settle down..." ❤❤
Exactly!!!!
Did you know Keith Sweat wrote it?
@@reekreal7953 No. I didn't know Keith Sweat writes. I was glad the legend is still getting money in the business as a radio host, much more respect in him getting that writing money.
@@reekreal7953 Where did you get this info from?! In the credits it says "Bernard Belle & Teddy Riley". It was intended for Keith 1st but then Teddy decided to make it a Guy single. Good decision.
@@rikkidgermano9640 right. Lol
His smile and teeth look amazing!
I love the New Jack Swing Era... To me, one the best eras of music❤
Guy - Piece of my love 🔥 🔥 🔥
Guy was definitely that group. Introduced the new jack swing sound in the late 80's and early 90's
Damion had a good solo album that was slept on. He's a good singer and percussionist
I'm not from NY but I must say that two of the best dudes that I have ever known are from NY..
Real dudes 👊
My dad always told me this is our cousin and different stories about Aaron, Todd and Damion growing up together. I don't know them to much but I'ma watch it, they definitely come from the Romeo family though outta forest projects outta the bronx ✊🏽 my dad and his mom were extremely close ❤️ we definitely a singing family
Rip johnella! 💙
I made a comment about Forest Projects before reading your comment. I heard Aaron claim Brooklyn before but I definitely heard him claim Forest Projects also. Every year in Atlanta they have Bronx Day and Aaron was there repping the Bronx hardbody and naming all the hoods
@@bxdale83 Big facts, forest projects was were the Romeo's came from on their mother's side, my great aunt. May she rest in paradise.
I heard Todd Hall preach when I was younger. He said he was their brother. I thought he was lying till he actually sang lol..awesome voice and awesome word
@@reeseromeo6 So was their mom (may she RIP) a Taino Indian looking PR or was she an Afro PR? And do all 9 of them have the same mother and father?
I had their version of “The First Noel” on repeat this Christmas. Those voices 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
That New Jack Swing era inspired by Teddy Riley was the ish 🔥 🔥 🔥
Keith Sweat helped Teddy a little but TR was the face. Sweat was just an artist
@@reekreal7953 How did Keith help Teddy when Teddy was responsible for the sound?! When Teddy created that sound, everybody including Keith used it so it was rather the other way around.
Your forgetting Gene Griffin he was the manager during that era
showed Teddy the way to produce that sound old head from the solar records era Whispers etc
@@keiththomas111 I can’t argue with that
Give a shout-out to The Group Guy... Damian Hall used to be killing those dance moves in the group a lot of people be sleeping on him
Teddy jam for me 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💣💯80s R&B the best
Facts!🙌🏾
Hell yeah dancing he's ass off
HOLY SHIT! This interview is amazing. holy shit. damion hall is dope vocalist in his right, his brother just happened to be aaron hall so people never really noticed lol.
Aaron is the King of hip hop soul and Mary J is the Queen . "Groove me" kicked it all off . Guy will 4ever be that group .
I got K-Ci as the king of Hip Hop soul.
@@noncustody A Lot of people forgot about Dino too . Still have to call Aaron The Godfather of it all . Jodeci is my favorite. RNB group of All time still.
@Official Replik Did you forget R. Kelly got his style from Aaron Hall. His first couple of albums with public announcement was a wack version of Guy
@Official Replik Hip hop soul not RnB . I would definitely give RnB to Kelz . But there is no R without Aaron.
lol you can't be the father when you're not the original my boy. Charlie Wilson gave birth to both of them to honest. We know in the music business you need more than just talent. You need style and swagg and that is where he copped Aaron Hall style
Nice seeing you, Damion Hall. You're looking great. Love that warm smile. And I always enjoyed watching you move.
RIP Mama Hall! 🙏🙏🙏
The Hall brothers
Their third CD is so underrated!!!
It's okay at best but it did not age well compared to their 1st & 2nd.
Go check out Damion's solo single "Satisfy You" feat. Chante Moore...great music!❤
That song is STILL in rotation in my whip
What about A Song For You with Aaron
I immediately start singing We can Spend the night 🤣🤣
My Jam!
The most influential group in the New Jack Swing era everybody wanted to be like Guy...
I remember buying Bobby Brown, Tony Toni Tone, New Edition, Guy, and Keith Sweat cassettes one day in the summer of 88. I wore those things out in my Walkman🤣💯
People also forget that R Kelly basically took Aaron Halls style and ran with it
@@brandonwright3553 Stop it! Kellz did none of that! Vocally they were on a total different vibe and if you listen to Aaron, he sounds way too close to Charlie Wilson while R. Kelly was heavily influenced by the Isleys. The look, you might be right but musicially & vocally - Never! R. Kelly killed it with 12th Play and that album sounds nothing like Aaron!
Teddy created new jack swing. He mentored Pharrell and timbaland. All 3 from va beach
@@dominiqued2539FACTS 💯
He’s A lot less angry than Arron
Well., when your soul is crying out for the relationship with the God you once knew, but still want continue in unchecked sin you'll manifest what's really going on in your soul. Just outwardly and without reasonable justification.
It's *Aaron* .
Aaron got derailed when Guy broke up. Stars wasn't aligned for him then R. Kelly came up. But I'm sure Aaron has calmed down now looking at R.'s current situation.
@@billyjacc WTF!!! You just typed a bunch of incoherent shite
@@billyjacc Preach Fam...One Love Fa'Sho...
I was 11yrs old in 1988.. my uncle always listened to Guy so I did too and Guy has always been allat!! I always love seeing Damion dance!! He always kill'd it!! He's aging gracefully!! Still very handsome
Damn shame that Damion only had 1 solo album. Gr8 album. Fantastic vocalist & dancer.
Mann thank you for this interview blessings 💎💎💎
I was checking into my room in Indianapolis, Indiana for the Black Expo and I heard a voice behind me saying "sister you are rocking that buzzcut". I turned around and it was Damion Hall. He was absolutely humble, handsome and very respectful. We actually talked for a few hours before he had to fly home.
I too was there at The Embassy suites that year. I have pictures with them. The good old days!
Salute to Damion Hall of GUY very talented brother a.k.a "Crazy Legs"
What was his talent?
@@tlig DEEZ NUTS!
Great dancer, planned their choreography and outfits, sang backup. Wtf are your accomplishments??? Lol
@@MyKeeP81 I merely asked what his talents were. I am not challenging him or anyone else so why are you asking me for my accomplishments?
Hey Damian!...Im a huge fan.Thank you for all of music
The music
I love Guy. Goodbye love is definitely in my top 10 favorite songs EVER
This is gonna be a Classic one!!! MUCH RESPECT & SALUTE 💐✊🏾✌🏾
Piece of My Love is my ish
Man ! A. Hall and R.Kelly ran the 90's R&B GAME.Only thing, R Kelly produced his music and others. That would be a versus I would pay to see..Amen!!
Agree...And Also Gerald LeVert & Keith Sweat
@@JunniorRooks You have to look at Kell's scores for other people that made them or reinvent themselves.I like those artist you mention, If you MAKE a hit for MJ, you on a nother level in the Game of music..Amen

@@bxboro4662 that boy Dino, from HTown was right on thier heals as well as KCI AND JOJO..Who dont miss those days ??😳😳
It is always interesting to hear different interviews from time to time. I really like this interview thus far especially about how if Damion would have a disagreement or some type of problem with his other Aaron, Todd or even Teddy Riley they would go bowling. I was like wow, because I really like bowling myself. There just something about bowling that takes your mind off the daily pressures of this world that allow you to just fellowship with people & literally have a good time. You are able talk things out, refocus, reprioritized what is important & what is not important. Just keep it moving, always going forward never backward.
NOW THESE THE INTERVIEWS WE NEED GLAD!! 🔥🔥😭
He still looks good
Groove Me, Goodbye Love, Teddy's Jam...Love me some Guy! New Jack Swing...
Thanks for this one VLAD
Satisfy you is a underrated cut..with chante moore ..
“New York has changed, you got some flimsy ass cats over there now” 😂😂
I'm gonna use that today..😅😅😃
I'm Damien's Hall little brother Deshawn all of the Bronx say mother and father Janella Romeo Hall is our mother
Really?
My favorite group 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Shawn Prez does a great job interviewing
I love guy. Aaron hall took a major L by letting his ego get the best of him. when he went solo. Teddy Riley was the master for the sound they had.
facts, but he dropped don't be afraid, i miss you, lets make love, all the places i can kiss you, going down, and worked with big and pac when they were alive. aaron's solo career had two solid albums. and then they made III. if anything he proved he could make hits without teddy then got back with teddy and had guy's highest charting single. aaron cemented his legendary status individually and also boosted the group's status as a whole cause 2 legends 1 group.
Aaron did the right thing by going solo. Most lead singers go solo.
@@themansince Didn't really do much for him though. Teddy started BLACKStreet and people almost forgot about Aaron. The sound Teddy created was way more important than Aaron being a lead singer and Aaron has a similar voice to Charlie Wilson who on the other hand still is in business.
@@rikkidgermano9640 Aaron did good by going solo. The group was broken up when Aaron went solo. Get over it!
@@themansince How did he do good?! He had two solo efforts and the 2nd didn't even to well. Teddy on the other hand still travels the world with his music and will always be remembered as the guy who created New Jack Swing!
He ain't on them drugs like Aaron.
THAT’S it right there!
He looks good!
Legendary guy and group!
Yes I'm here for it.
Aaron Hall is a beast.
*was
@@tlig No, not his singing. I am talking about Aaron 'Jodeci know I got a long dick' Hall. You haven't seen his vlad interview from back in the day. Aaron is on a whole nother level with the shit he talks.
New jack swing is the most underrated genres groove me alone if yall dont gimmie likes yall dont know what time it is and never will know
The title is shameful ,imagine being introduced as someone's brother. Being a brother isn't an accomplishment.
I said the same thing
Most people wouldn't know who he is if they didn't say he was Aaron Hall's brother. It is an accomplishment to be kin of somebody famous!
@@themansince He is a part of one of the most important New Jack Swing groups ever. That alone speaks for itself. if you know about music, especially New Jack Swing, you know about Damion period!
**Ray J has entered the chat**
@@rikkidgermano9640 exactly...he should be introduced as that.
Wow ! Small world . I’ve seen Todd hall preach several times and never knew he was connected to them .
peace; This catt showed his singing skills with his Brotha on his song, one of the illest songs ever remade by a few catts name "A Song For You" on Damion album "Straight to the Point". Then I knew the Brotha was just as dope as Aaron.
I loved "Satisfy you"
@@Diving4pearls81 Now you talking Kenya. That joint with Chante Moore definitely a piece of history in the R&B world of hits. Good ear Kenya

Those artist that come from Church are a different breed of Artists! The runs and the root of their voices are just different. Amazing!
I heard Aaron Hall claim the Bronx, Forest Projects. There's a video of him speaking at "Bronx Day" in Atlanta
I played ball with Aaron and Damion in Roosevelt, LI Exit 21
These both my uncles❤️
Please start interviewing more R&b artists. if you ever watch unsung, their stories are more interesting than the rappers. . Also shout out to Shawn pres for not asking the typical Vlad question Did you grow up with both parents or one parent?
Very good interviewer
I Love Guy. my favorite new jack swing Group
Not a fan of Prez doing these interviews but glad to see Damion be heard.
Damion is very articulate down to earth guy if you ever meet him. He speaks his mind, handsome and loving.
Most new york city cats are. Thanks too their amazing public school system
Right on !!
Remember, before R. Kelly, there was Aaron Hall. R. Kelly clearly stole Aaron Hall's style.
GUY was the TRUTH!!!!!!
Aaron hall is the granddaddy of swag... Damion was his mini me that could dance
