Fun story! At the start of the pandemic last year, my friends and I had a bunch of Skype calls together where we would often play shitty BuzzFeed quizzes. One day, one of my friends and I decided to make one of our own parody quiz. So I made an account, and suggested an idea: "Create your dream bagel, and we'll find your SpongeBob soulmate." We thought it was hilarious. I came up with a series of bagel-construction-related questions, and all the results were overtly sexual descriptions of SpongeBob characters (ie, the wonderful things Squidward could do with his nose) accompanied by photos of completely random stock photo models. The next day, I decide to check in on it, and I notice a bunch of activity... Tons of comments... Plus a notification from BuzzFeed saying that I... I was featured on the front page? Yes, that's right ladies and gentleman. It was on the front page. You had to scroll for a bit, but it was there. And BuzzFeed approved it. Yeah they broke a story in my area about the local religious school and the child abuse that was rampant there in the 50s-70s a few years back. I needed to laugh today, thanks Scott! Also! A few months ago I made a trivia quiz for my friends, and it became so popular BuzzFeed but it on their homepage. They changed the title (Here's a Disney animal quiz! to It's almost impossible to get 100% on this Disney animal quiz!) almost everyone of the questions to make them way easier and less obscure.
I massively appreciate a sponsor read that's not 100% smooth transition delivered in a serious way but instead let's the audience feel that you know we know the ad read, and you know we're not really hype about it, but we like to see our creators succeed so we're happy u got the sponsorship. Nothing makes me feel more taken advantage of than when the ad fits too perfectly and smoothly into the video because then it always feels like the whole video was created just to be the ad, not because the creator wanted to make the video. It feels like i got got somehow to enjoy a video but then at the end get served an ad that makes me feel like the video was just an excuse to get me on board with watching the sponsored bit.
If I wasn’t a subscriber, your regular calls to take social media breaks would have me on board quickly. Props for trying to help your audience have good mental health!

Yup. It's like they made a bargain with a demon. Like, "You'll do great journalism, but the rest of your content will be sillier and will be how the public perceives you."
Yes! And sometimes they get the first scoop. It’s weird!
Oh yeah, Buzzfeed News has literally won a Pulitzer. It's like the most intense double-edged sword ever.
Yeah I think they were the first to bring the R Kelly victims to light. Weird.
Yeah they broke a story in my area about the local religious school and the child abuse that was rampant there in the 50s-70s a few years back. It was wild because it was such a good article with multiple, credible sources but then at the bottom of the page it was like '15 things we are STANNING in the Amazon black Friday sales'.
Buzzfeed helped me know what kind of pizza I was based off of my decoration choices, I thank them for that
Scott: yay I’m blue
Buzzfeed the second time: you’re not that guy pal trust me you’re not that guy
I love that Scott puts the ads first because I don't feel tempted to skip them and the rest of the video feels like a reward
Man... I absolutely love Scott Cramer. Seems like a nice, genuine, funny guy! Completely underrated, elite content.
sometimes when i have run out of things for my brain to aimlessly do, i'll take a handful of buzzfeed quizzes. typically i don't return to the site for at least another year or two tho
Woah! Less than a minute and almost 100 views already?! Good job Scott! Can't wait to watch the video! My partner and I both love your content! ⭐
Everytime you mention taking a break from socials, it's a great reminder to check in with that. I try to take regular breaks, but it's easy to forget & it really does make me feel better when I'm away from it. Anyway, thanks. 💚
7:15 That Paramore reference while showing Olivia Rodrigo 😂
Omg! Fresh out of college studying PR, I gave an anecdote to a publication about “listicles” and I haven’t heard the word since. How awful.
I was also photographed at the first Starbucks that served alcohol and put in an article. What a year.
Wait, there’s more! Playing Paramore during your first mention of Olivia was 🤌🏾
That Paramore sound clip when he talked about Olivia Rodrigo was hilarious.
I stopped reading Buzzfeed when their “listicles” became just entire ads for obscure amazon products.
the only thing i ever go on buzzfeed for is ideas. like ill take a “pick between these songs and…” and then ill get one of the songs stuck in my head, and ill go listen to it and then just listen to the related songs. so basically what im saying is that i only go there when im bored and want to use them for something unrelated.
I remember back in uni in like 2013-2015 just constantly sending my friends BuzzFeed quizzes back and forth during study breaks.
6:09 ooh nice Aries reference, I recognize the first second of Fool's Gold
"I bet I can guess your age within five years."
Buzzfeed has way too much time on its hands.
buzzfeed has learned the art of titling their article like an isekai light novel
Man that hey at the beginning was so perfect and I don't even know why
Ya know, just for kicks, I deleted my social media and I actually feel so much less stressed
6:08 "Im an aries" *plays Aries* nice one lol
That aries joke was way too funny for no reason.
The “I’m allergic to bullshit” line is the perfect amount of terrible to make a joke absolutely hilarious, it was so good
YES NEW VIDEO!!! scott please make more PBS kids show videos the arthur one was so good
Everytime I watch it I actually laugh out loud
@@luthientinuviel3883 same here!!
Oof that Aries Fools Gold chord got me hype, only need one note
Literally was thinking the same thing with green being environmental and so I’d choose it, looks like we’re both wrong lmfao
If I wasn’t a subscriber, your regular calls to take social media breaks would have me on board quickly. Props for trying to help your audience have good mental health!
In this increasingly anonymous world of modern technology theese quizzes give us the only thing any of us truly want, which is an identity. Regardless of how sophomoric it may sound on the surface, I truly believe that the hardest thing for anyone to know is themselves.
says how out of touch and specific buzzfeed is then shows he memorized a specific Disney quiz show episode from 15 years ago
When I subbed middle school they always did buzzfeed quizzes, cause they were allowed and they were bored, so the average age is probably middle school and middle aged.
Commenting to inform you 2 years after you posted this that the aries joke was peak and did not go unnoticed
The Aries reference was the best thing I've heard in a long long long time
I always feel like I'm seeing something I shouldn't be seeing when your shorts are visible
6:08 _"I'm an Aries"_
By the way Scott, thanks for introducing me to _Aries_ , I heard _Kids On Molly_ at the end of one of your videos and have been obesessed evee since.
- _with thanks,_ a fellow Aries.
“a couple times a week i’ll just throw on the 2006 disney channel games”
buzzfeed did peak in 2018, though. even when no one really took them seriously at the time, they were thriving. then, in early 2019, they fired 15% of their employees, and they've never recovered from that.
the microphone covering up the “go” on scott’s shirt makes it look like his shirt says “daddy bowl.”
As a girl who has no social media. I used to LOVE doing BuzzFeed quizzes. The only reason I stopped was bc my school's wifi is trash and I needed to go to sleep at night.
I got 15 on the fashion trends one. I hate you for making me take that test, and I hate myself for multiple reasons
6:09 nice to know Scott listens to Aries
The fact that I only got three of these wrong, one of those I couldn’t keep up with the answers, and have never watched the Disney Channel games, astonishes me
I regularly take buzzfeed quizzes because I find them hilariously dumb and so mind numbing to the point where it takes 0 effort.
I love it
I love that you took the quiz for disney channel games. This channel is so wholesome lol.
I used to watch buzzfeed all the time, but all the interesting people left for the most part. The unsolved guys and Sofia Nygaard are the only ones me and my wife still watch. The other people that I used to watch really had there heyday on buzzfeed and kinda went down hill afterwards, or atleast lost my interest.
LMAOOO using the Paramour song while talking about Olivia Rodrigo is sooo good. We love the subtle drag
That Aries joke was perfect 😂😂
The aries reference really caught me off guard. Lovely artist
1:05 the sole reason buzzfeed died is because they didn't put Scott Cramer's name in the title of this vid after featuring him
BuzzFeed always made me feel like they would try to sublimate me into drinking essential oils.
