For those who are actually interested in making one of these, buy USB "endoscope" modules which are basically USB webcams, and connected them to PC as you normally do or to a smarthpone using an OTG configuration.

I've never torn into a USB cable anywhere along it, but let me take a stab at understanding how this was done, OK? So, you cut into the cable near the connector or somewhere else if a longer wire might be needed & pick out the black, green, red, & white wires from within the cable (are these ''the only'' conductors in a USB cable? I guessed there were more by the number of contacts on a USB connector). Next, after bending those wires into a specific shape & arrangement, you solder them onto ''some fairly general areas'' of the edge-board type connection the camera is connected to, right? So, it's not that important of a detail which specific connection point a certain color wire is soldered on to, is that right? I mean, as long as the black wire is soldered on somewhere in the area of the far right side of the board, the red wire is about 1/4 (or 1/3rd, depending how you look at it) way to the left, the green is at a point that's spaced the same as the black & red, to the left of the red, & finally the white is soldered on at the far left of the board? So it's that easy??? WOW !!!!! In the 40-some years of being a repair tech. in all forms of electronics, I've wasted so much time connecting wiring & components because of pesky details like polarity, power, & signal. Amazing.
well to be honest there are only 4 wires in the usb cable. so that answers first question. if it was a type c usb then there would be more wires. next he showed a picture of the pin out on the camera ribbon. maybe you missed it? which is possible to find before removing the camera. so yes this is possible to do but did he actually do it? who knows and also not all cameras are usb connectable. but for some it is possible. i have done it with laptop web cams and use them for security cameras.
