no because if you add the ethyl group to C2, then the longest carbon chain in your structure now comprises of 6 carbons instead of 5, and you end up with 3-methylhexane, which you already drew.
Because they are named based on the longest carbon chain you can find the molecule … when it is branches, somethings the chain is only 6, 5 or 4 carbons long
@@brigidpopores23 yes exactly. the hyrdrogens are there, its just in skeletal formula you dont draw them in cause it takes a lot of time to individually draw each hydrogen
Why not use ethyl instead of methyl in the drawing, and how is the distinction made, whether the branch means ethyl or methyl? Can you help me ,please?
Ethyl is an alkyl group with 2 carbons written as CH2CH3 which is why there are 2 lines in isomer 8 extending out of the main chain. Methyl is an alkyl group with 1 carbon written as CH3 which is why there is 1 line in isomer 2 extending out of Carbon 2 of the main chain
idk but the simplicity of your videos along at how informative it is, helps me understand it a lot more than the two months our prof taught us.
Yep. You’re my hero.
Thank you...
Your explanation is very beautiful
For 3-ethylpentane If you put the ethyl on the 2nd carbon isn't that a different isomer?

@@tasniahossain9996 Thx for the explanation buddy 🤗🤗🤗🤗
@@tasniahossain9996bro literally thanks a lot for this suggestion
Thank you! This just helped me!
Him: Done under 5 minutes
Also him: *shows 7 with his fingers but weird*
Question- for 2,2,3-trimethylbutane, could you turn the two methyl groups on the second carbon into an ethyl group, and if so, how would you name it?
No then you parent chain would be a pentane, with two methyl groups on carbon 2 and 3, which is already an isomer youve written. 2,3-dimethylpentane.
Thanks bro you my hero
what about the stereoisomers, like optical isomers
Thank you bro Love From India 😁😁
Does 4 ethy pentane doesnt possible please tell
Who s my hero? Yes, you are
How come all the structures don't end with heptane, some end with butane and some pentane, aren't they all structures of haptane?
Because they are named based on the longest carbon chain you can find the molecule … when it is branches, somethings the chain is only 6, 5 or 4 carbons long
Why are the hydrogens left out?
hes drawn it in skeletal formula, which is just an easy way of drawing hydrocarbons
@@soyboy5961 thank you! so do you just assume that there will be hydrogens attached to the carbons in order to fill the outermost shell?
@@brigidpopores23 yes exactly. the hyrdrogens are there, its just in skeletal formula you dont draw them in cause it takes a lot of time to individually draw each hydrogen
Thank you
very good
go on
and thanks

Thanks Sir
U are great
thank u sir
But sir why 2-4 dimethylpentane it is identical na ??
exactly very nice method of teaching but draw full ......
100%😎😎😎
