      Almost. Her attitude towards him from Series 4 has completely changed by The End of Time.
      We see her out on the street when Gallifrey is appearing, looking up to the sky and begging for The Doctor to save them. She now not only understands that these things exist, but also has a belief that The Doctor will save them, when she didn’t even believe in aliens at all when we saw her in The Stolen Earth.
      I think she actually probably appreciated The Doctor’s “then maybe you should tell her that once in a while” although she was angry and embarrassed at the time, it made her realise how harsh she’d been to Donna, and why she was so desperate to get away from her normal life and travel with The Doctor in the first place. It’s great character growth 😊

    Can't help drawing parallels between Donna-Rose and Amy Pond-River Song:
    - Mothers are stubborn redheads
    - Daughters have curly hair
    - Daughters born affected by their mother traveling in the Tardis, and thus have some Time Lord tendencies
    - Daughters end up going by a different name to their birth name which starts with an R

    - Mothers have some extrasensory abilities due to exposure to space stuff

      @@friendlyotaku9525 Oh very true. But looking back at the End of Time, it's crazy to see how much she changed between Journey's End and then, especially her attitude towards the Doctor. When Gallifrey was crashing down, she was practically praying to the Doctor. And then at Donna's wedding, she's quite emotional over the fact that she's never going to see the Doctor again (or so she thought) and that he's dying. So her protectiveness over Donna and respect for the Doctor in the Star Beast isn't at all surprising.

    Tennant was speaking from the heart when talking about Wilf. He and his wife Georgia grew so close to Bernard Cribbins they named on of their sons Wilf in his honour. Tennant also admitted that there was very little by way of acting from him when doing the TARDIS interior reveal scene, as he was genuinely impressed and delighted with the new interior. Finally did anyone pick up the reference to The Doctor Dances? Nice little thing I picked up on:
    "Cold milk yeah?"
    "Well remembered"
    The Doctor has lived for more than a thousand years since "Journey's End" (technically four and a half billion if you count "Heaven Sent" as part of their overall lifetime), they've gained and lost new friends, made and defeated new enemies, said goodbye to old allies, got remarried and become a widower (again), saved the Time Lords and then watched them be damn near wiped out again, has gotten younger, older, and even become a woman.
    But even through all that, nestled somewhere deep in their impossible brain....they still remembered the way Donna Noble takes her coffee. If that's not a perfect way to sum up true close friendship, I don't know what is.
    A fab start to the 60th & Xmas special period, can't wait to see what comes next!

    So I knew where things were going with Beep the Meep, because I have read the original comic story this is based on (it was in Doctor Who Weekly in 1980). One thing I loved is that they made sure to get permission from the original writer and artist, Pat Mills and Dave Gibbons, made sure they got story credits right at the start, and there's some touching behind the scenes footage of them visiting the set, and being really pleased at how it turned out.

    I loved the new TARDIS interior, but I do hope all that space will have or be put to good use in future stories!
    Also a little annoyed that considering this show is immensely British, that it’s a coffee machine in the TARDIS and not a tea…machine. It’s rather American for it to be coffee and not tea, and especially because this Doctor loved a cup of tea, considering it brought him round in The Christmas Invasion.
    But that’s a small gripe.
    Doctor Who is back in big budget, insane production quality glory, and I’m here for it!

      Felt like RTD trying too hard to be inclusive and messing it up. The other stuff earlier in the episode was great. It has the vibes of people that try to say autism is a superpower in their films/shows and it ends up just feeling insulting

    • @hanonhold
      @hanonhold 11 місяців тому +3

      @@joevictor53 Yeah I think people forget that just because RTD is gay and has done a lot of great work for gay visibility in television he is still a cis middle aged white guy so he's still totally capable of falling into the same traps as straight writers when it comes to tokenizing characters or falling back on stereotypes. Most women don't want female characters going "lol women are soooo much better than men!" and most trans people don't want characters whose gender is some kind of alien super power. We just want to be included and accepted and visible. I like the episode and give him props for doing his best, his heart is obviously in the right place, but this is one of those times I wish British shows would use the American concept of a writer's room with diverse voices contributing material 🤷
      ETA: also as a wheelchair user I found the Davros stuff a bit ridiculous since I've never considered him to be a character that uses a wheelchair or thought of him as disabled, but then I know other disabled people who welcomed the change and said the character had been a source of bullying for them over the years so I guess it comes down to personal experience. I think it would've made more sense to just retire the character than to retcon his backstory which really messes with the history of the Daleks.

    It's really nice that you feel like you can vent to those of us who watch to the end, I'm sorry you had such a difficult day. I honestly didn't notice any lack of quality later in your reaction, you were great.
    The episode didn't feel much like a major anniversary special, but I guess we're coming off the back of the BBC Centenary special which packed in a lot of the nostalgia, and Tennant & Tate were back (along with Sylvia who was excellent in the kitchen scene, not so sure about slapping The Doctor across the face).
    I don't think this was an episode I'll want to rewatch anytime soon, but for the people who've been pining for the Tennant era I can see how it would have been excellent, that just wasn't my preferred era of the show. Very happy to hear the Middle Eight in the end credits though, so it's strange what matters to different people eh 🤪

    • @SlyAceZeta
      @SlyAceZeta 11 місяців тому +2

      Her slapping the Doctor made perfect sense, considering how hard she and Wilf have worked to keep Donna safe from the truth that would kill her and the Doctor just pops up at the front door as if nothing had happened. She gave him her highest compliment later so I think it's all water under the bridge.

    • @bobblebardsley
      @bobblebardsley 11 місяців тому

      @@SlyAceZeta Given all the other messages in the episode, "It's OK to hit people in the face with no warning" doesn't sit well with me. There was absolutely no other mention made of it, literally just you can slap a man in the face if you want to and there will be no consequences. Combined with Rose jumping on The Doctor for assuming pronouns and the whole "male-presenting" bit at the end with Rose, Donna and (for no apparent reason??) Shirley all smirking at him, it's like The Doctor is the literal punching bag for every female character in the episode. It's not the right message to send and it's a really poor way to treat the title character and 'hero'.

      @@bobblebardsleythe doctor got slapped for putting Donna's life at risk. The last time he talked to her, he literally told her that Donna remembering him would kill her.
      The male-presenting line was awkward, especially since saying it would NEVER occur to the doctor in the episode after Whittaker regenerated into this face... But it's really one of those lines that only offends you if you're looking to be offended. Are you the sort of person that couldn't let go of power? If no, the comment isn't really about you. If you are... The point offends you because it struck a nerve.

      @@chazo1367 if you recognize that ALL timelords are male AND female, at different times - the questiin answers itself. If biological measures are temporary, they are irrelevant. I'm timelord society, then, 'male' and 'female' would be presentations of self - someone who BEHAVED 'male' by their metrics, would be 'male'.
      RTD even kind of confirmed this in the episode. The Doctor is described as not understanding about the option to just 'let go' of power because the Doctor is 'male-presenting'. This is despite the fact that 1 of the last three Doctors has been biologically female. Clearly, being 'male' isn't about biology.

Because she didn't do anything wrong, I felt embarrassed for her. When I shouldn't be because she probably isn't. I just wasn't feeling her writing at her music. Everything else about her I absolutely loved. David Tennant was s tier as always. I got to see him do doctor rage again. And he really gave me end of time level acting. The meep was scary?! When they first heel turned, my first thought was Donna had this thing around her daughter. It could have been it for the both of them. When the car got shot up and there wasn't any damage and they addressed that later on. I thought to myself bro we are freaking back. This episode was a 9.5. A thing I found out is the meep apparently comes from a old Marvel UK Dr Who comic, and the creators of the Meep are gushing about it, not just the way it was treated but the way they where treated, which is rare in Comics, they feel so respected and yes where given financial renumeration over their creation which can be a huge issue in Comics.
