The Goblin Song with Janis Goblin released two weeks ago & for a period of time (want to say a week & a half) was number 1 on the UK Itunes chart within 3 hours. It was genuinely possible that said song about eating babies could have been in the running for a Christmas number one Though the Escape Song with Gatwa Doctor & Ruby was a suprise to all.
First of all, HUGE CONGRATULATIONS on 100K Subscribers! I'm truly invested in 15th Doctor and Ruby after this - such a fun story, and I feel more empathy with these characters (someone please get Cherry a cup of tea), than I ever did with anyone in the TARDIS throughout the 13th Doctor era. The feel good scene with the Doctor and the Policeman, felt like a deliberate harking back to the 8th Doctor and capturing that zest of life he had. Roll on May and eight weeks of madness! Can't wait!
@@peterratter6603 'Master No Six' was an anagram of the fully written out 'Mister Saxon' so perhaps we should be looking for anagrams of 'Mistress Flood'. 'SISTER OF OLD MS', perhaps? As in, sister of former female companion River, aka second daughter of Amy? An 80 year old could have been adopted as a baby in 1940s New York City.
@@rtozier2011 Another thought that came to mind (and it's tenuous...). Notice how Mrs Flood goes from 'angry, confused old lady' to 'indulgent acceptance and knowledge of the impossible' in a very short space of time? Series 9 has an episode called 'Before the Flood'. This is set in and beneath a Scottish loch. Series 13 of Classic Who sees the introduction of the Zygons, based in and around Loch Ness. Given the personality shift, and the (admittedly) tenuous link between classic and modern Who, there's a possibility that Mrs Flood is replaced offscreen by a Zygon halfway through the show.
You didn't hang about with these new reactions ;) This is definitely an episode which could only have worked as a Christmas special, especially with that song. It was a good full debut for Gatwa, who just has so much style and charisma and I had a good feeling about him from the start. Speculation abounds about the identity and importance of the old woman. I have heard theories that she is either Ruby's mother or even an old version of Ruby, and neither would be out of place in this show. Watching your reaction she definitely seemed to know more then she was letting on. Oh and as others have pointed out, RIP Richard Franklin, our former Captain Yates.
Yet we see her utterly shocked upon witnessing the TARDIS dematerialize a bit earlier and when we first see her, she displays open distain for her neighbor Abdul, accusing him of "always watching". It's like something "happened either "to her or "with her" between the bag dropping sequence and her relaxed, friendly and "knowing" stance at the conclusion.
@@Redfern42 lots of theories for her. One of my favourites is that she knows what a TARDIS is because she is a time meddler like from classic who, she knows the sound and such but she didn’t know it was a Tardis until it did dematerialise in front of her because only the Doctors looks like a police box, any other would change and blend in to the environment.
My theory is the lady is a regeneration of The Rani, a former enemy of The Doctor, i think Ruby is her baby and she left her there for The Doctor to find.
Look, I like David Tennant, but I've been waiting to see this new Doctor and he did not disappoint. I'm glad to see you were as excited by it as I felt.
When I first started watching Sesskasays, she was easing in to my favorite show, Doctor Who, and, post COVID, post everything, it is so great to have this channel as a constant in my life, including now when Jessica is all caught up and we get to watch all of this together.
loved gatwa dr who performance, i already love how he acts , and his doctor seems to really care and hes funny too , and i I already know ruby sunday actress so i love her already too
It's also the first time we've had a companion join on a Christmas special and stay (obviously we had Donna, but she said no) so it's nice to see we're still doing new things
Mrs. Flood could be What Toymaker meant by "My Legions are coming." as one last word game and warning. Her name may well be this because in ancient times, a legion of soldiers would sometimes be described as a flood descending on their enemies.
This really was such a fun episode and I can’t help but to think that they’re setting up something bigger with Ruby’s birth mother and the neighbor lady. Can’t wait for more
I love it when Doctor Who takes on a more fantastical approach, and goblin pirates especially is an aesthetic I am here for. With or without the singing, but preferably with.
It might just be a coincidence, but the cab card that was on the fridge in place of the photos of the foster children says Crossgates cabs. Ncuti spent some of his life in Dunfermline (actually attending the same high school that my daughter now goes to). There is an area in Dunfermline called Crossgates.
I'm not quite decided on Ncuti's Doctor yet. It may be a case of "what you are used to", but in my view he's a bit too "settled" in his personality. Usually, each "new" Doctor is introduced with a bit of struggle accepting his new personality, or getting through the problems with regeneration. Even 9, who needed to be introduced without a direct reference to his prior incarnations, displayed some of these quirks. Ncuti just dives in, declares that he IS the Doctor and is enjoying ever second of it. Don't get me wrong... I like what I have seen by now. I like Ruby's vibes, and the whole setup and design of the new series. I don't even dislike Ncuti's Doctor... it's just so different from the Doctors I have gotten used to. It will definitly be an interesting voyage, and I'm looking forward to see where it goes.
I think thats part of the character development to come though. This is a Doctor who is really proud to be the Doctor, he loves it, his level of guilt or complicated emotion is deep deep beneath the surface buried under joy to be alive. There's no way Russell is going to let that stand lol and certainly not Moffatt if he is indeed on board as a writer. I think it's just setting up an arc in the way Peter Capaldi was a grumpy old man who was softened over time. 15 will be tested.
What an episode. We may need to keep a close eye on Mrs Flood. I have a hunch that she's actually an iteraion of an old Doctor Who enemy, The Rani and I think that is the character Jinkx Monsoon is playing as for Doctor Who this season.
Ncuti just owns the part straight out of the gate. It was wonderful and weird and everything that Doctor Who should be on Christmas Day. I have my own theories about Mrs Flood but I'll keep schtum!
I loved the episode & your reaction. I was waiting for the Doctor to fix the broken window using the same 3D printing function in his sonic screwdriver that 14 used in the first special for the bulletproof screens during the shootout in Donna’s house.
Gatwa makes a strong first impression here! As you say, this episode is less about the plot and more about introducing the characters - but it does that admirably! The whole cast - the Doctor, Ruby, and Ruby's mum and gran - are all really entertaining characters, and I look forward to seeing their dynamics throughout the series! I quite like the goblins. Goofy, cheesy-looking monsters are one of Doctor Who's strong suits, and I'm glad to see they're leaning into the cheesy aesthetic despite the higher budget. These goblins feel like they could've been a Troughton-era monster, almost.
This was a great into episode for both the 15th Doctor, and his latest companion, Ruby Sunday. I like their chemistry, takes on their roles, etc. Where things will be going, as they involve Mrs. Flood, will be of interest for the coming season (a May window if read correctly from BBC One). Lastly...but not least: Richard Franklin, RIP.
The Doctor noting that he's adopted is already a WAY more interesting thing to do with the Timeless Child reveal that anything Chibnall managed. It's actually kind of weird he didn't come up with it, since he's adopted himself.
He's said before that his own experience with adoption was the inspiration for the Timeless Child. He just slightly missed solidifying that as a fully realised theme. It's a shame that didn't really land in Series 12 or Flux, but I'm glad Russell is doing something with it.
I love that there are now Americans loving this very British show I just hope they DON'T CHANGE TO MUCH I'm okay with a little American change but not to much
I enjoyed watching the Christmas special. Ncuti Gatwa as the Doctor, is a breath of fresh air. So I am looking forward to seeing the next season in 2024.
FYI Mrs Flood she is an Actress/Singer Anita Dobson, she was in a soap in uk called Eastenders one of the plots she was in was watched by 30m people and still holds the record as far as im aware, she is also married to Brian May of Queen. The question is who is Mrs Flood really, at beginning she called it a police box from 60s but at end she called it a T.A.R.D.I.S. i think she's The Rani - Mrs Flood what is a flood = Water/Rain anagram of Rain is Rani. The Rani hasn't been in any the new Dr Who I was thinking River was her but i got it wrong. I think she's the new Riversong/Missy we'll find out at end of season or Ncuti's run
Funnily enough, I've seen a few theories that Jenny might be the mum, which would mean the new companion would be the doctor's granddaughter, just like the original series.
@@cooluncle4242 Millie Gibson does look quite a bit like Georgia Moffatt and brings similar energy to the character. Plus it would be nice to have an in-universe link between 5, 10 and 15 to go with the irl one between 5 and 10.
Loved this special and Ncuti is awesome as the new Doctor! I can't wait for spring! ( Is it only my imagination, but the scene of the strange woman in the cloak who left baby Ruby at the Church reminds me of that scene where Jodie's Doctor was revealed....her walking along concealed in a cloak!)
It was apparently Disney who pushed for The Goblin Song to go full pop and this proved a wise decision for its main market in the UK, as it's recently seen a respectable chart placing - reversing the trend of the show using previous hit singles from other artists. I see there is even a Janice Goblin T-shirt now. I wonder how big you can get it?
I think you made that up about Disney. RTD has talked openly how he wants more music in who, also made his desire for goblins on Christmas in the behind the scenes
Love the episode, Ncuti is brilliant. And I wonder who Mrs Flood really is as she seems to know the TARDIS. And the song in the nightclub scene is Touch by Hybrid Minds, if anyone wants to listen to it
Great reaction and don't worry about reacting to the song. That song flew to the top of the youtube charts before the Christmas Special had even come out. So you are not only who liked the song. Yes the lyrics are bad because they talking about eating a baby but the Rhythm is so good you just can't help dancing and bobbing to it. I have listened to the youTube version over and over again because it's such a great song just shouldn't be about eating babies though.
The internet is already exploding with the BIG question..... WHO THE FUNNELCAKE IS MRS. FLOOD?!?!? People are suggesting: "The Boss" mentioned by The Meep "The One Who Waits" mentioned by The Celestial Toymaker The Rani regenerated The Fugitive Doctor regenerated Susan, perhaps? {Who claimed to coin the abbreviation "TARDIS"} The first two could, and most likely DO refer to same approaching opponent. Who could also by The Rani, if she is returning. Apparently Russell T. Davies has teased the possible return of Susan in Tweets.....
The goblins didn't have much personality, but that's fine for a Christmas special. It's also funny that, in folklore it's gremlins who cause all that type of mayhem, but talk about copyright issues, LOL!! I think this story sets a strong tone, and it won't be the last time we see The Doctor singing and dancing! If there's ever going to be a musical theater Doctor, he's here!! I have ideas about Ruby and Mrs. Flood, but they can come another time. Cheers to 2024!!
I was shocked the first time I watched this episode on tv I was like “wait what! The doctor can now sing???” - was shocked for a while after I finished watching it I think this new series will be amazing going off this first episode I love the 15th doctors energy and style
You can tell Ncuti is putting a lot of himself into the Doctor. He plays it BRILLIANTLY and I have nothing but high regards for his performance. If he doesn't go on to be one of the best Doctors, I will be stunned.
Russell T Davies has said Mrs Flood character will be a slow burner, but we will find out who she is during the next season in spring 2024, starts May 2024.

My leading theory is that one of the two women who raised her was the person who dorpped her off. OR it was herself realizing it doesnt matter who her real mom is and somehow was back in time and decided to drop herself off as a baby.
Why do i get the idea that Mrs. Flood is either the Master/ Missy and or is the mother of Ruby at the end. Wasn't the best Christmas special but a good background for doing the washing up.

The Goblin Song with Janis Goblin released two weeks ago & for a period of time (want to say a week & a half) was number 1 on the UK Itunes chart within 3 hours. It was genuinely possible that said song about eating babies could have been in the running for a Christmas number one
Though the Escape Song with Gatwa Doctor & Ruby was a suprise to all.
Deeply saddened to have learnt about Richard Franklin passing away on Christmas morning.
I love the connection between Ruby as adopted and the Doctor being 'adopted' as the Timeless Child, really uses the concept well.
Rest in peace richard franklyn aka Yates amazing character and actor! This episode was amazing.
Can't wait!
We’ve had the Pond’s, a River, and now a Flood. How important will she turn out to be?
What about a lake or ocean
@@jaymorrison4886Jackson Lake
We know how RTD loves his anagrams. Best I can manage: MRS FLOOD = M FOOLS DR
My guess is she's a new incarnation of Missy.
Well done on 100k subs well deserved always enjoy your reactions to Doctor who old and new keep em coming Jess
loved gatwa dr who performance, i already love how he acts , and his doctor seems to really care and hes funny too , and i I already know ruby sunday actress so i love her already too
Yeah I agree, he reminds me a bit of Christopher ecclestons portrayal of the doctor looking forward to seeing his upcoming episodes
Ncuti in the nightclub will be forever iconic.
Just stumbled across your channel today. Your reaction to this episode of Doctor Who is funny, joyful & you made me laugh. Thanks!
It's also the first time we've had a companion join on a Christmas special and stay (obviously we had Donna, but she said no) so it's nice to see we're still doing new things
RIP Richard Franklin AKA Captain Mike Yates.😢
Congratulations on 100,00 subs! 🎉😊
Mrs. Flood could be What Toymaker meant by "My Legions are coming." as one last word game and warning. Her name may well be this because in ancient times, a legion of soldiers would sometimes be described as a flood descending on their enemies.
The same year that ruby is left is the year that ten went back to see rose and Jackie in the end of time
This really was such a fun episode and I can’t help but to think that they’re setting up something bigger with Ruby’s birth mother and the neighbor lady. Can’t wait for more
Great reaction video. Thanks for getting it out so soon after it aired. Oh and your hair looks lovely in this vid, by the way!
the look on your face,, when the doctor was dancing . Made my Christmas .
I love it when Doctor Who takes on a more fantastical approach, and goblin pirates especially is an aesthetic I am here for. With or without the singing, but preferably with.
I love this episode so much, and I''m excited to watch your reaction to it! Hope you're having a great holiday season!
It might just be a coincidence, but the cab card that was on the fridge in place of the photos of the foster children says Crossgates cabs. Ncuti spent some of his life in Dunfermline (actually attending the same high school that my daughter now goes to). There is an area in Dunfermline called Crossgates.
12:45 Jess was SHOOK
Talking about coincidence i find out The actor of Mike Yates passed away and 5 minutes later this pops up
I had such fun with this episode! Can’t wait to see the rest of the season
Ncuti just owns the part straight out of the gate. It was wonderful and weird and everything that Doctor Who should be on Christmas Day. I have my own theories about Mrs Flood but I'll keep schtum!
This episode was so much fun & Gatwa's enthusiasm is off the chart! It's going to be a long wait until spring 😁
I loved the episode & your reaction. I was waiting for the Doctor to fix the broken window using the same 3D printing function in his sonic screwdriver that 14 used in the first special for the bulletproof screens during the shootout in Donna’s house.
Am I the only one who felt a bit of homage to 1984's Gremlins? Mischievous creatures tampering with things and causing chaos on Christmas?
The only disappointing thing in this episode was when he switched from kilt back to trousers, I loved that look! Great reaction and episode.
R.I.P Richard Franklin aka Captain Mike Yates😢
Great reaction as always. Wishing you a great New Year with your family!!
I hope you had the loveliest Christmas!
Davina was in Dead Set, the spiritual to Black Mirror and was the voice of the Big Brother house in Bad Wolf.
I love that there are now Americans loving this very British show I just hope they DON'T CHANGE TO MUCH I'm okay with a little American change but not to much
Here we go again. Looking to be a great run. Can't wait to see your reactions.
I enjoyed watching the Christmas special. Ncuti Gatwa as the Doctor, is a breath of fresh air. So I am looking forward to seeing the next season in 2024.
So far the new Doctor is doing well and pulling off the tortured soul who is willing sacrifice themselves to save those they love.
Ruby reminds me of a combination of 80% Jenny (the 10th doctor's 'daughter') and 20% Me (Maisie Williams)
I see a mix between Rose and Clara (more of Clara) in her!
As ive said on other reactions:
Pond-River-Flood?
Lots of mystery being woven in this episode, setting up future storylines.
Love the episode, Ncuti is brilliant. And I wonder who Mrs Flood really is as she seems to know the TARDIS. And the song in the nightclub scene is Touch by Hybrid Minds, if anyone wants to listen to it
Actor who plays Mike Yates in the classic series passed away Xmas Day, 😞
Great reaction and don't worry about reacting to the song.
FLOOD?!?!?
People are suggesting:
"The Boss" mentioned by The Meep
"The One Who Waits" mentioned by The Celestial Toymaker
The Rani regenerated
The Fugitive Doctor regenerated
Susan, perhaps? {Who claimed to coin the abbreviation "TARDIS"}
The first two could, and most likely DO refer to same approaching opponent.
12:45 pretty much the whole world reaction to 15 singing lol
I love this Doctor and this special! 😊👍
I was shocked the first time I watched this episode on tv I was like “wait what! The doctor can now sing???” - was shocked for a while after I finished watching it I think this new series will be amazing going off this first episode I love the 15th doctors energy and style
I really wish that Ms Flood was Susan. Good lord we need to see that reunion.
Carole Ann Ford is still alive though so it would be nice if she reprised the role with the idea that Susan had chosen to age in the human way
i love the new characters and just adore the new Dr Who, excellent reactions, thanks
Ange from Eastenders meets Kelly from Corrie.
Hi Sesska,
I’m a huge fan of your channel! I have been watching your videos for a few years now. I recently went through a hard time and rediscovering your videos really helped me through it! You have great positivity and enthusiasm. Thank you for sharing your videos and keep up the great work!
I was wondering if you have ever seen or heard of VAN HELSING. Its premise is like if you mixed THE WALKING DEAD & SUPERNATURAL. I thought since you are a fan of both of those that you might enjoy this one as well!
So fitting that you wore red on Ruby’s debut episode ♦️
My leading theory is that one of the two women who raised her was the person who dorpped her off. OR it was herself realizing it doesnt matter who her real mom is and somehow was back in time and decided to drop herself off as a baby.
Why do i get the idea that Mrs. Flood is either the Master/ Missy and or is the mother of Ruby at the end. Wasn't the best Christmas special but a good background for doing the washing up.
Just imagining Jess' face if they announce a musical episode! All those lovely copyright battles lol
Happy 100k subscribers 🥳
I do say Seska as well as viewing Dr Who classic and modern, if you might view and react to Blake,s Seven an awesome science fiction series from 1978 to 1981.
Ncuti is amazing as the 15th doctor, the energy and tone he’s bringing is so relaxing and inviting.
Everybody is saying that with the same unconvincing tone of enthusiastic reassurance that one would use if forced to take the kids to the beach because the queues to enter Disneyland were too long - _’Awwww how lucky are we, this actually turned out to be better than Disneyland ay!’,_ meanwhile the kids are inconsolable with disappointment 😭
Hoep you feel better soon!
Loved your reaction :)
