I took care of a mom who developed a group A strep infection postpartum. Went into multi organ failure… she was put on the liver transplant list. Thanks fully she turned a corner… and we discharged her from the ICU to the ward. Didn’t need amputation. It was really really borderline for a long time though. Poor dad thought he was going to be widowed with two little girls at home. I washed her hair for the first time in two months. Took forever to brush as it was coming out in chunks. Barely had any hair left from all the stress ontop of PP hair loss. She will need a long road to recovery to regain her strength as we had her paralyzed for quite some time and her muscles just wasted away. Those mommas have some serious strength and will to live for their babies let me tell you. Group A strep is no joke. It’s terrifying
And once again this woman proves how strong you ladies are when life falls apart. I don't think a bloke would handle it anywhere as well as this marvelous lady has done. Hubby too deservers a big pat on the back for dealing with such a catastrophic situation, and being there for his wife, no questions asked. I wish all the best to both of you and the littlies (kids), from Australia.
a lot of men think that women's health is unimportant because women are "strong" enough to deal with it. she doesn't really have a choice but to be strong. there are a lot of men who let all of the childcare and housework fall onto the woman, are against allowing women to use pain meds during pregnancy and labor, are against allowing women to choose abortions, and think jokes about domestic violence against women are funny because women are "strong" enough to deal with it.
"Being there for his wife" and *their* child is what any decent human would do. I don't think this deserves a big pat on the back; empathy, surely. Those who don't do what they are ethically and morally supposed to do need to be called out and reprimanded by their family members and friends. Many men leave their partners during cancer treatment and other life-shattering illnesses. It's appalling (look up the statistics). It's actually sad that we get impressed by seeing others do the right thing.
Bree, you have done the seemingly impossible by surviving. What amazing care you must have received in order to be alive today. And your baby boy! He is so perfect. All of this happened to you so recently ! Yet, here you are at home and being Mom to your children and wife to your husband. Please don’t hesitate to accept every bit of help anyone offers . You sound like you and your husband want to find a way to manage everything on your own. Don’t put that additional stress on yourselves. God give you strength for today and all the days to come, and joy in each one.
No mam. I beg to differ with you! So many people would have given up. So many people would have fallen into depression and self pity. So many people would have given up the fight and let themselves drift away into the next life. You didn't. You fought your way back, like only a mother could do. You are a WARRIOR. Thank you for sharing your story. I wish you and your family all of the joy and happiness life has to give.❤❤❤
I can't even imagine how earth shattering it would be to not be able to hold your newborn baby in your arms😢 Try to keep in mind being a mom isnt just physical love isnt felt from skin its a vibe your kids will feel inside no matter what!! Your an amazing woman and mom! Praying for your family to stay strong and for your family to remain solid in supporting you a long the way. You can show your kids they should never give up, and family is one of the most important things in life ❤
I am blown away by Brie’s incredibly positive attitude! To go through what she has experienced and to still smile and be positive is amazing. What a blessing to have such an wonderful husband, family and community to support her. It’s okay to have outside help so that no one becomes overwhelmed. Pray she keeps getting stronger. So much love in that family!❤
This is just awful! I’m sitting here with tears, running down my face, thinking about the trauma. This poor woman has endured. Bless her husband and kids for their trauma as well. Prayers to you all.🙏🏻
What an incredible strong woman!! She went through so much! Gives me hope to fight my own personal health struggles having been told I will need to undergo Dialysis for my kidney failure. What an inspiration! ❤
Wow. Examples like this young lady remind me I AM SO BLESSED. So easy to take things for granted. But everything can change from one day to the next…God bless this family ❤
Yes you are so brave and strong God bless you and your family and may God guide you through all of the challenges your a great mother and woman prayers for you and your family Amen. ❤❤❤❤
She is awe inspiring, still a pillar of strength in her weakness of moments. My heart goes out to her and her Husband, wow he seems an absolute warrior as well, such an incredibly terrifying and unexpected tragic event to go through, they both appear to be doing amazing considering the heartbreaking situation and circumstances they have had to face. Sending my uttermost respect and love to the both of them, they are incredible humans, their Children are very lucky to have such a strong Family unit. ❤️🩹
What a courageous young woman and loving husband. Dear Lord, please bless and keep this family in the challenging days ahead. May abundant grace and mercy touch their lives every day. Let blessings multiply to overflowing to encourage them to keep facing life with hope and peace in their hearts and minds. In Jesus Christ’s name. Amen✝️🌹
You are an absolute warrior and are showing your kids that true love knows no barriers or obstacles. Sending love for you and your beautiful family, sweet girl. Stay strong and remember that the universe wanted you to stay ❤
Amazing strength! It sounds like she might have developed sepsis from the infection but it wasn't mentioned... Would be good if they did since there needs to be more awareness about it.
Just so glad to know that she was able to pull through such a difficult medical condition. Stay strong Bree, just know that that even in the toughest days we’re always find ways to make it through.
Prayers for this sweet mama. You’re beautiful mama. I can only imagine the mental stress you experience from such profound changes. I hope you’re seeing a therapist and appropriate mental health professionals. Don’t forget to take care of yourself.
You know something? I hope she realizes the universe has an important job for her. Not just any person can survive this illness and I hope she realizes this. Glad to see she is among a very few group of survivors
Your an amazing Lady and your Husband is also amazing and shows how much you both love each other no matter what your three little boys are adorable 💜🙏💜
i understand the doctors probably wanted to try and save what they could. but I'd rather just get all 4 limbs amputated than have to suffer through MULTIPLE partial amputation. that sounds like absolute hell
As soon as I heard what the diagnosis was, I legitimately said "there was no saving those limbs". Strep toxic shock can cause gangrene, and DIB can cause necrosis in limbs due to lack of blood flow. There legitimately was almost nothing they could do to help her, and I'm sorry she has to be stuck in this torturous existence
Oh my goodness, you and your WONDERFUL Family are INCREDIBLE People. This would break up a lot of marriages, but you both obviously have an Amazing & INCREDIBLE Love. You are a TRUELY an AMAZING WOMAN. Can I please give you some advice about accepting extra help. My husband and I have an adult son with disabilities and health problems, we have no family or friends to assist us. We are 60 and 69 in age and our Darling son is 29. As you get older, things get a bit harder, also you don't get much time together, even to go and have a coffee. Another thing, the main carer gets very tired doing all the things that have to be done. You also have other children, we didn't have any other kids. Please don't think I'm telling you what to do, this is only advice. Take care all of you. Sending Lot's of Love. Kind Regards Vicki Butler Australia. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
This dear lady might get a lot of help by watching Joni Earekson Tada videos. She is a great encourager and has been a paraplegic for 50 years in a wheelchair.
there are much more things in life to be scared of than being disabled, imagine saying "i would rather die than be you" to her face... what kind of message is that?
Her husband’s face said it all for me. The way he looked at Brie before and after it’s a complete change! What a tragic thing to have happened to such a young woman while pregnant😔so how could this been prevented? Was it strep throat she had but didn’t know it? Like what could’ve been done sooner to help Brie?
Most likely but because she was pregnant and there are certain antibiotics and medications which are not safe for use in pregnancy due to the risk of complications
I can’t even imagine…
Oh my god, she is so brave, God bless her.x🤲
❤😭
Praying for this woman and her family. What a hard thing to go through, but I'm glad the mom and her new baby made it through!

And so young. Praying for her and family.
This is an amazing woman. Having a baby and living life again. I wish her the very best and their family will only get stronger.

Men go to war and see their friends blown up and flesh, blood, and limbs flying through the air. This is a nasty, ignorant, and UNempathetic comment.
@@Happytown7523 so do women. It really boils your pee when men appreciate women properly doesn't it? You should work on that.
a lot of men think that women's health is unimportant because women are "strong" enough to deal with it. she doesn't really have a choice but to be strong.

You’re an amazing human being! ❤️ from CT.
Both Mom and Baby are lucky to be alive. DIC is often incompatible with life.
Yep, they don't call it 'death is coming' for nothing. So glad she made it! What an incredible strong brave woman.
Right?!? I have seen this occur multiple times and it's always fatal. She truly is remarkable!
When learning about DIC in nursing school my teacher said a way to remember it is that it stands for "Death Is Coming" 💔
@ that is a perfect way to say it. I think in all my years of practicing I only had one patient live after DIC.
What a strong women. God bless you and your beautiful family.

Very well said!
A systemic infection is so absolutely terrifying 😢
I will never get pregnant and stay that way. Damn!
God bless the mother and family 🙏🙏🙏....how was all the infections not any detected at all.....❤❤❤ cannot even imagine.....
That’s awful. That poor woman going through all that whilst raising 3 kids, 1 being a prem baby. What an absolute warrior. As is her husband.
She gave a life to three children. She is a brave.
That baby looks like her. May this baby inspires her willingless to continue her life, always, happy and to the very old age. Amen
God bless. I can’t put into words what I feel when I see her struggles and her response to them.
Yes you are so brave and strong God bless you and your family and may God guide you through all of the challenges your a great mother and woman prayers for you and your family Amen. ❤❤❤❤
Where did the infection come from?
@amyserra440 the video mentions she had an infection from a stomach surgery. The surgery she had before she started to become sick.
They mentioned necrosis in the stomach from a previous surgery, so it could be from that.
A Streptococcus A infection along with a necrotising facsiitis, which is a very bad infection which CAN and WILL EAT THROUGH BONE and soft tissue. 😢😢😢

How does one get strep A infection?
It's so wonderful you have a loving, devoted husband!
I'm so sorry this happened to her. I hope she can cope.

The smile on that baby's face says it all. He's got his Mom !!!
Praise God for you!!
I pray that your husband is as strong as you are! God bless your family
Such a traumatic life event. I'm so glad she survived and gets to be a mum to her children. What a strong woman.
Amazing strength!

definitely sepsis, it's kind of implied if you're in the medical field but they should have mentioned it more overtly

That's so tragic 😢
Wow you are my hero. God bless you and stay strong and keep the faith.
Pregnancy is not health neutral.
@Girlofpages what do you mean ? I don't understand
@Girlofpages Getting pregnant is the result of an act, which in most cases, IS a choice.
I can look at that woman and see the strength in her she will make it and she will get stronger from this
You are a very strong woman and I am so happy for you that you have such amazing support and love God Bless🙏🙏
What was the previous stomach surgery?
