@@timcook8999 True. Rising powers have been challenged more often than not. But conflict is avoidable, if reason prevails. There is hope we'll get a scenario like "The US outgrows the UK in the early 1900s (peacefully)" instead of, e.g., the turmoil when Germany became the powerhouse of Europe beginning with the late 1800s.

Anyone watching this I hope you appreciate the gravity of the messenger. Hans Rosling's tone, facts, and demeanor was/is that of an adviser to the world. He didn't have one slip of the tongue, or foot in the mouth, statement in his presentation. While the whole time he spoke in a manner as if to advise what the best course of action would be. Then he predicted (arbitrary date) that power and responsibility has already begun to shift. King making on video.

Wow, Hans is the man...his fierce representation of the future has definitely made my day. And believe it or not, he's absolutely right, avoid war at all costs, it'll only bring us back to the past. What's the point when we have the future to look forward to?

  • @indianmilitary

@stopcommunistmedia didn't you hear what Hans said? Asia was not only richer than Europe 500 yrs ago but also had more knowledge in basic science, math. Astronomy. European colonizers not only occupied Asia but also looted the enormous amount of wealth (Diamonds, Gold, Emerald, Ruby etc) from India especially. If you go to British Museums, even today you can see diamonds stolen from India being displayed. LOL
Like Hans said, India and China only regaining lost wealth, not gaining anything new !

The presentation is wonderful, packed with a wealth of informative data. Alas, I won't be alive to see if it comes true as I'll be 102 years old in 2048 (my reasonable expectation) ! But economic forecasts are as true as weather forecasts at best, I feel.

Manner is a relative term. I am an Indian living in Europe , I see many Europeans complaining about American tourists manners. If you ask me American tourists manners were better than Indians. However American manners are not enough for Europeans.

There might be times that monopolies function better then competition i just find that most of the time it is the case because of already existing gov regulations. Phone company (at&t) use to be a monopoly formed by government and costumer service sucked and prices were higher then after it got resolved. Companies now use tricks to share networks.

As of today yes the western world does hold the monopoly on paradigm shifting innovations but that was also true of 15th century China. Times change and this is only the Wests era of innovation The cycle repeats itself as it always has and with current trends the East is not only catching up but surpassing in many fields.

Unfortunately as history thought us in Andalusia (today's Spain) the Islamic Spain at its time was one of the most advanced and sophisticated civilizations with advancement in mostly chemistry, medicine, physics and litterateur, art and architecture. And such doesn't always make you the best in military power because it focuses more on one part more than another. The still barbaric west-Europe at that time could still after some time fight back the Arabs from Spain.
